Golf mania!

I thought I’d share these fun pictures of what we did last week.  It was date night with my son.  We played miniature golf.  He was pretty good.  Way past the stage where we just chase the balls all over the place since he knocked them too hard.  If you’ve ever golfed with little kids you’ll know what I’m talking about 🙂  He even made a hole in one!  I didn’t get any.

We also went to the batting cages.  Those were a lot of fun but my hand and arm was pretty sore by the end of the night.  Metal bats are kinda tough, if you’re not used to that kind of thing!

Then we made a trip to the ice cream parlor because we thought we’d run into my husband who was out on his date with Sydney.  A delicious new treat this year is a slushie with Nerds in it.  Green apple is sooooooooo good!

Later in the week we volunteered at the LPGA golf tournament that was in our town!  We volunteered with the band boosters for our school system.  They get a nice bit of money for helping out and the work is pretty darn easy.  Better than selling cookies or fruit baskets!  Technically, it’s “ecology” duty.  That, my friends, is a fancy term for “picking up the garbage”.  And let me tell you, I don’t think there is such a thing as “garbage” at a golf tournament!

We get to wear these cool “uniforms” to indicate that we are legit and can have access to any area of the golf course.

We get to drive around golf carts because the trash cans are located all over the course.  We pull the full bags out of the containers, replace the bags and then take the bags to the main garbage dumpster.

And, in between, while waiting for garbage cans to refill (which is a long time!), we cruise around the course and watch the golfers!

And hang out in the volunteer tent and eat snacks, pizza and hydrate on our complimentary “Sparkling Ice” drinks.  The kids love the Sparkling Ice drinks.

And finally, we got to try out the golf simulator.  Wow, we are pros!!

As you can see, it’s a good time, for a good cause.

Q: Do you golf?

We don’t, but it’s fun to goof around and go to the driving range.  And of course miniature golf!

Q: Do you volunteer for anything, races or otherwise?

I do a lot of volunteering at school and just in general.  Sometimes I need to say “No”, but that rarely happens.
