Friday was my day off and it was a wonderful day to check out a lunch concert at the metroparks.  We packed up a picnic lunch and a blanket and headed over to Wildwood park.  The park used to be the estate of a wealthy family and it was turned into a beautiful park with lot of trails and several of the original buildings that can be toured.  The horse stable was turned into a nature center.  Beautiful place!

The music of the day was a man playing guitar.  It was a good show.

After that, we hit the new playground.

And chilled out in the pool.

On Saturday, we decided to take a trip to Put In Bay.  It’s a little island that has a lot of fun stuff.

We rode over on the ferry, and immediately went to our favorite pizza parlor – Frosty’s!  Well, not exactly immediately because I insisted that we forgo the shuttle bus ($10 for our family!) and walk the two miles instead.  Hey, it was a beautiful day and we all could use the exercise 🙂

Yep, I’m carb loading!

Next we rented a golf cart and drove around the island.

Explored the island… Don’t Give Up the Ship refers to the Battle of Lake Erie that took place on the island with Commodore Oliver Perry and the British troops.  It was one of the biggest naval battles that took place during the War of 1812!

After a busy day at Put In Bay, we headed over to Cedar Point, which was relatively close by.  We have a meal plan on our season passes, so we figured we might as well go get our money’s worth out of the meal plan!  Dinner at the park, then we hopped on a few rides and stayed until the moon came out.

And we went to Boneville!  I swear that’s rated G… it’s bunch of buildings in a little town you see on the train ride at Cedar Point 🙂  Although I do find it slightly disturbing that the skeletons wear jackets, but no pants.

After the drive home, my head hit the pillow at midnight.  It had been a fun, long day!!

Q:  Did you do anything special this weekend, or just relax?

Q:  Skeletons without pants, good or bad?  haha

Q:  Favorite pizza toppings?

My kids are on a bacon kick, so we got bacon and tomato on our pizza.

Q:  Would you rather… if you were on the island – ride around in a golf cart, or rent a bike?
