a Rafflecopter giveaway

The winning entry can be used for the 5K, half marathon, or full marathon.  My raffle ends at midnight, Sunday Nov. 20th.

The Glass City marathon was my first half marathon.  I remember it well.  13.1 miles seemed the farthest distance EVER to run!!  Times sure have changed, but one thing is for sure, the Glass City Marathon is always a memorable event.

Whether 2017 would be your first Glass City, or your 15th, I’m sure you will agree with me that Toledo loves it’s runners, and loves this event.  Here are some throw back pictures from my first Glass City half marathon in 2010.  My husband ran with me and took these pictures…

My angry face when I realized I have to run ALL THE WAY AROUND the University… not in a straight line (geez, look at the map before the race!!)

My husband enjoying a beer on the course. I didn’t get a beer, but I was still smiling 🙂 See, it’s a great race!

Q:  If you won a free bib, what event would you choose?

Q:  Have you ever run GCM?

  1. I would probably choose the Half Marathon even though the Full sounds better. My spring schedule already has 2 Marathons, but then again if my body is healthy then I would just go for it!

      1. I’m on the 5 year plan for Boston, which means I’ll do it every 5 years until I no longer qualify! We might do the family team relay in Detroit next fall, its great getting the kids out there and it gives them something to work towards.

  2. I would run the half. I was so excited to do churchills this year, but just could not get ready after having a baby end of August. My house in on the course and I watched from the window and it was so sad to not be out there (I ran it the past 2 years).
So I am excited for GCM. I ran it for the first time last year and really liked it.

  3. I haven’t decided if I won a free bib if I would do the half marathon, or if I would bite the bullet and try to do the full marathon. I started running about 9 months ago, and completed 4 half marathons since then!

I ran the half at GCM in April 2016…my first one ever! And I became totally hooked, yet I’m not sure WHY. 🙂 Since April, I’ve completed the Boy Scout Half in BG, the Detroit International Half, and then the Churchill’s Half this past weekend….and I got a new PR!

  4. My goal is to run the half again this spring. I ran it in 2014 and 2015, but was sidelined by acomplete ACL tear in 2016. Nothing pained me more than driving past the course the day before the race knowing I wasn’t going to be able to run! I’m back to running and slowly building my strength and pace. GC Half will be the crowning moment of my recovery!

    1. Me: “I see the finish area. Don’t we just turn down this street here??”
Alan: “no. You still have over a half mile to go!”
Me: “WTF! Are you kidding me!?!”
Ha!! Definitely not funny then, but hilarious now 🙂

  5. I ran GCM for my first full in 2014! I’ve been registered to run the full for the past 2 years as well, but sadly stress fractures both years kept me out. Hoping 2017 is my year!!

  6. Awesome! Thanks for the opportunity…AGAIN this year! I ran the full last year and had a blast. It was a toughie for me…it was my second full but the first time I ever experienced the dreaded wall!! I hit it hard at mile 20…but pushed on through. Can’t wait to run it again in the spring!

  7. I would seriously look at the half, just haven’t committed yet. I just ran my first half a month ago and was blessed to have the run community supporting me. Joined Dave’s MIT program and had a great time training.

  8. I would choose the half! GCM 2016 was suppose to be my first half! I trained all winter and 2 weeks before the race I was sidelined with a stress fracture:( I am coming back in 2017!! Can’t wait!!!

  9. Knowing me it would be hard to turn down a full entry but I may have to drop to the 1/2 since Canton is the following weekend.

    1. I know… hard to saw No to a free marathon!! My crazy husband wants it to be a trifecta month with Boston, Glass City, and then Canton!! (and then months of PT. Haha!) Good luck!

  10. I would love to run the 1/2. It would be my first and being a Toledo native I couldn’t imagine running any other race for my first time.

  11. Looking forward to doing the half, have done the full GC three times. I agree all psyched you’re almost at the end and then the run through the parking lots! Lol
