Monday

No running – skiing on vacation!

Tuesday

No running – skiing on vacation!

Bruises from my ski trip… that means I had a lot of fun in the terrain park! (and a fall)

Wednesday

Speedwork –  3.3 miles, Dave’s Training night.  It was a freaking WINDY night, be we managed to knock out 4 x 800’s in that 23 mph wind.  No morning run because I only got 4 hours of sleep due to late return to home after vacation!  Also did some time on the rowing machine.

Thursday

Rest day.  After much thought on vacation I decided I needed extra rest days.  My upper hamstring pain has come back with full force.  Sucks.  It hurts from the moment I get up in the morning until I go to bed.  Is it my lack of stretching this week?  Too many miles last week?  Skiing???  Either way, I thought some rest was in order.

Friday

Rest day again.  I was debating going out for a run, but as it turns out, I told my boss I would work today, so I really didn’t have time to go for a run, and I took that as a sign!  And… our basement is getting drywalled this weekend.  See our treadmill under that plastic??  Oh the horror!!!  Set it free!

Saturday

9 miles, Dave’s Training day…. my plan said 12 miles long run 🙁  I decided I would run a few easy miles before the group run so I ran 2 miles.  Ugh.  The miles felt hard, even though they were slow.  Luckily the group portion of the run went well (3 miles).  After that, I was going to run 7 more miles, but only made it for 4.  I was sore and my hammies were barking at the me the whole time.  Took that as a sign to call it a day.

Sunday

I came up with a list of things I’m going to try to knock this hamstring issue out.  I was surprised resting didn’t seem to improve them at all.  So I’m hoping a plan of daily PT exercises, Jasyoga exercises and maybe foam rolling will help them.  Please, help them!!!!  Luna and I fought for the sunny spot on the floor while I did some glute bridges.  She looks pretty annoyed that I’m there!

Well, that wraps up my weekly workouts… but I’ll get more into my “injury” next post.  Stay tuned!

You can find my other Training Tuesday recaps here!  Linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC again this week.  (there are a lot of fun blogs linked there in case you are looking for something new to read!)

Q:  Do you have a basement? Is it finished?

Q:  Is it hard for you to take unscheduled rest days when you’re on a training plan – or even if you’re not on one?

Q:  Did you get a lot of snow in your area lsat night?

  1. Even when not training I pretty much stick to my 5-day schedule with Mondays and Fridays off. At my advanced age, rest is as important as training. I look forward to those rest days when I get to sleep in a little longer and not worry about getting dressed and out the door by a specific time. We got snow Sunday night into Monday and then the lake effect kicked in last night so looking out my window now I can we got another couple of inches. Crap! Going to make running outside a challenge but I can see a glimmer of sunlight on the horizon so maybe some will melt off. Currently 19* so back to winter gear!

      1. Got 20 done on Saturday and 5 on Sunday to finish the week with 50. Wednesday morning is going to be 13* so I am seriously thinking treadmill.

    1. The bruises are from falling on a box in the terrain park. Look worse than they feel luckily! I always seem to return with a souvenir bruise. Oh well, it’s all fun!
