Remember I said I had ordered a Christmas gift for myself?  Why yes, it was a spin bike. I  got one that several other bloggers have, and have given some great reviews.  Side note, I actually paid $50 less than what the price was listed for today when I’m writing this post.  Deal!!  Anyhow, I ordered the bike on Weds morning, 10:53 am to be exact!  Originally the shipping date wasn’t until Dec 28th so I had it shipped to my office to insure someone would be there to sign for it.  Then a few hours after I ordered, I was told the shipment would be there THURSDAY!  Yes, the very next day.   This picture of the lady cycling, with snowflakes, cracks me up!

What the heck?  I just selected the free shipping, nothing special. The best part?  When the UPS delivery guy stopped at my office, he agreed to drop it off at my house instead (because it’s his same route).  What a deal!  Oh, and he’s a runner friend, and you know runners are great people!

Speaking of runner friends, we joined many of them this week for festive Christmas runs!  Earlier in the week I joined Alan’s running group (I call them the “North Side runners”!).  We toured a neighborhood and went out for pizza and beer.

Just look at the size of this tree in his neighborhood.  That is legit!!!  The owner actually gets out there and hangs those lights himself too.

I was the slowest runner in this group, but still managed to get a 8:54 pace overall.  Those 5 miles were challenging for me and I sure felt it the next day!

On Dec 23, Christmas Eve Eve, I joined a group of my Moms Run This Town friends for a morning run.  It started snowing and we spent a bit of the run being pelted in the eyes with the snow.  Yikes!

I decided I did not want to push it again, so I hung back with the 10:30 pace group and enjoyed some good conversation.   It was a incredible wintery wonderland!!  So peaceful, and we saw a lot of runners out that morning.

7 miles just flew by!

And finally, I decided last minute to join the Nerd Herd group and go on a Christmas Eve run.  Initially this brought on some moaning from my kids, whose “faces were freezing”, but it turned out that they totally forgot about that woe as we ran through the park finding deer and checking out the frozen pond.

Deer selfie!  (deer butt selfie really)

We made it an easy 3 miles while the rest of the group did many more miles than we did.  I give my family kudos for finding red things to wear!

That pretty much sums up the running for me this week!  I’ll give you my thoughts on my new spin bike soon.

Merry Christmas!!  I hope you were on Santa’s nice list 🙂

Q:  Do you have any recommendations on spin classes on YouTube?

Q:  For those who celebrate, do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Q:  Did you go on any Christmas lights runs?

  1. Merry Christmas!

So glad you got your new spin bike and sooner than you thought you would. I should probably try a class again since I’m not running right now. I’m kinda jealous of all the Christmas light runs, but I figure I’ll drive around with a cup of hot chocolate tonight and look at them that way (it’s warmer!).

Hope you have a wonderful day and holiday season!

    1. We used to take the kids for a drive around with hot chocolate, but we haven’t found any neighborhoods really lit up in the recent years. Bummer because I really enjoyed that.
Hope you had a great Christmas!

  2. WOW that’s awesome that the bike arrived so fast! I hope you enjoy it.

I know that picture of the woman cycling cracks me up too! So realistic! 😀

I hope you and the family have a very happy Christmas today!

    1. Merry Christmas to you, Adam and Cecil!! I’ve used the bike twice now. Still liking it! I’m sure a tracking device will be in my future now. 🙂 all.the.stats.

    1. Cool, I will check out that spin video. I tried watching a scenic ride today when I was on the spin bike, but found that pretty boring. I think a movie would have been better if I wasn’t doing a class video!
