No running for me today.  Rest day, woohoo!  And extra woohoo because it’s also skiing day.  We were both still a bit sore from that long run yesterday, but after taking some Aleve it improved. 🙂

Get ready for lots of pictures because we had a busy day!  First, it started out with some mischief at the hotel.  Isn’t that always the case when you are in a hurry to get somewhere??

After about 25 mins we arrived at our destination… Holiday Valley Ski Resort!

The country side is very pretty out here.  It’s a little bit of work to get there, not not too bad.

We decided to put our ski boots on when we arrived at the ski resort and that turned out to be a problem for me because it was a major pain trying to put on those cold stiff boots!  I thought I was going to hurt my ankles trying to cram them into my boots.  Not fun.  But I survived, and we hit the slopes.

It is really beautiful here – lots of pine trees and quiet woods.  We had the extra treat of having a lot of fresh powder in the woods.  It was quite an adventure!

When I was following Zack through the trees he said “Don’t go this way!” and I found him like this….

It was as steep little hill and his skis went straight down into the snow and popped right off!!  We also ran into a couple runs with this super huge mounds in them.  We have never seen anything like that before.  They were so much fun to ski on!  They were super steep, but not hard to ski.  It was just a matter of getting brave and doing it.

Another brave thing we did was ski the Wall.  It was a crazy steep run which was icy.  A bit too icy for my liking!  We had talked this up to the kids since we skied it years ago when we went there (before kids).  As soon as we got over there my son said “Can I go??”.  As soon as we said yes he zipped down that run faster than anyone I have ever seen!  I was cringing because he was going so fast, but he was in control.  It was pretty crazy!  He made it down with no falls.

I went next and as soon as I took my first turn I fell.  I slid.  And I kept on sliding.  My skis did not pop off so soon I was a big blur of snow flying all over the place because I just wasn’t stopping!  That was about 50% scary and 50% embarrassing!  Eventually I stopped and then Alan and Sydney made their way down the run very cautiously.  They also fell and slid for a little bit, but they made it down better than I did.  Good times!

We had a full day of skiing and then we hit the town for some dinner and microbrews.

Dinner was great and now to enjoy some downtime at the hotel…..

    1. No injuries on this trip! Surprising though, given all of the crazy stuff we do. My son is quite the daredevil on skis and he worries me. He’s a great skier though, but just a bit too fast!
