When I woke up this morning our yard was blanketed in this wonderful snow! And, there was still a level 3 snow emergency. That meant no one was going anywhere (especially not to work). I slept in a little, then ran 9 miles on the treadmill. I warmed up for a few miles and then changed the incline/decline every .3 miles. Up, down, and flat.
All good things must end, and so did the level 3. I had to go to work at noon. But the kids got to stay home with Daddy and they played in the snow.
Looking ahead to my week of running, I’ve got a super long run this week. Hopefully it will go well!
- Mon: 9 miles, done! Was supposed to be 5, but I missed 9 from Sunday and I had time.
- Tue: 10 miles with 5 at HMP.
- Wed: Rest!
- Thurs: 9 miles
- Fri: 20 miles (!!)
- Sat: Rest. big time. Oh, but there is a cheap local run going on. I might do that with the family.
- Sun: 8 miles with strides
- = 56 miles. Whew, that’s a lot of miles this week!
With all of the snow we got, it was necessary to go sledding… even if it wasn’t until I got off work. There were quite a few people there as it got dark.
To recap from my ski trip on Sunday…
Sunday was spent enjoying the slopes at Holiday Valley for many more hours before we needed to make our trek home. Reports of bad weather was surfacing from our area so we needed to leave a little earlier than usual. But in the mean time, we enjoyed living like royalty….
Did you catch that? We are riding in the GOLD CHAIR!! Holiday Valley celebrated their 50th anniversary by painting lift chair number 50 gold. Not all of the lifts got them, only the lifts that were around back then. See how awesome it is??
Maybe we had built up the excitement a little more than was necessary, but we thought for sure that they would announce “GOLD CHAIR!!” when we sat down in it. Or maybe get coupons for free hot chocolate or other treats. Or maybe snap a few pictures for their website or something. But alas, it was really just a regular chair ride. It did take some finagling to be the right person to get that chair (holding up the lift line, cough cough cough), but we ended up riding a gold chair 3 times that day! It didn’t matter, we still felt like celebrities when we rode on it.
They had a cool fort in the middle of the slopes. We had some big laughs going down those slides!
The trees were so beautiful and breathtaking!
We didn’t even have to blaze our own trails through these woods. Don’t get lost in there little boy!!
Enjoying some downtime and hot chocolate with the family.
It took us almost 5 hours to get to the resort on Friday night, but the trip home was 7 hours! Driving down the expressway at 30 mph most of the way. At times we were the only vehicle on the road, and we could barely see! But we made it home safe. Good times 🙂
Q: Do you think they should have given free hot chocolate coupons for the gold chair ride?? (ok, I just wanted to see if you all agreed with me…)
Q: During a regular “non training” week, how many miles do you run?
A: I would say I am close to 20 in the off-season.
All that snow is incredible! Having days off work because of snow is pretty awesome 🙂 and yes, free hot chocolate and coffee and marshmallow coupons should be available!

You had a FUN level 3 day!
Wood County only went to a level 2, but I still didn’t leave the house on Sunday.
Yesterday, we were still a level 2, so we went to lunch!
