I’m sitting here being all angry right now. I was so ready to start back at some really easy morning runs post-Boston this week. I really love my routine of exercising before work and it’s time to get that going again. And then, it just came out of nowhere. By “it” I mean a pain in my foot. I had no injuries from the marathon. No major lingering issues. Then, I did yard work on Sunday. And by Sunday afternoon my foot started hurting. There was not one event during that day that I can think of that would make my foot hurt. And, it’s a new pain.
Right along here in the back of my foot, on the side, by my Achilles tendon I think. Some sort of muscle strain I’m thinking. Oh man, this is ridiculous!
I was all ready to run this morning, but turned the alarm off when I woke in the middle of the night and noticed it still hurt.
Ok, enough whining – let’s talk about some more fun things about my past weekend… still unpacking Boston stuff. I didn’t tell you that I was sick as a dog on Thursday so I didn’t get much done the week after our trip. We got these cool bottle openers.
We celebrated my birthday back home and went out to dinner at Nagoya, which is a Japanese restaurant. They serve dinner hibachi style which is always a great time. While entertaining us, the chef tossed some chicken at us to catch in our mouths. The first one bounced across my face. The second attempt bounced off my neck. I think a third attempt was launched and it went way over my shoulder! I’m usually quite good at that catching – so maybe it was the chef….
My daughter made me a super cute card for my actual birthday on marathon Monday.
She even had the “pre rain outfit choice” of pink tank top and skirt.
She has her own trademark logo. Art Pig. Kind of like “ArtsCow”, if you’ve heard of them before.
And finally, here is a funny picture from the expo. For some reason we look like ghosts or like I forgot to put makeup on, but otherwise, it would have been a really great picture! I never notice how much taller Alan is than me until I look at pictures of us. Or maybe I’m just extra short…

Q: Have you ever been to a Japanese hibachi style restaurant before?
A: It’s definitely reserved for special occasions, but it’s my kid’s love it (and so do we!).
Q: Anyone else out there suffering from any out of the blue injuries today?
Q: What is your favorite cross training, when you can’t run? Please help, I’m not sure I remember what to do! 🙂
no I’ve never been to one of those restaurants, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable catching food in my mouth. haha. It would probably bounce off my face also. lol
Sorry about your injury.!! that is soo random. Guess it was just the perfect combination to cause pain.. : /
Your daughter’s card is so so sweet.!
Jessica @ VEGGIE RUNNING MOMMA recently posted…Train.!!! Peanut butter and confession.
There was a couple who didn’t want to join in, but usually most people do catch it and it’s a good time. The chefs are quite entertaining and they can do awesome stunts with eggs!
Injuries are so frustrating! Hope the foot heals soon!
Love the bottle openers!!! Very useful reminder of Boston! 🙂
Awe, what a priceless gift…. handmade cards and gifts from our children are the BEST!!!!! Nothing is better!!!
And, yes, definitely the chef must have been off that night…. he needs to practice!!! 😉
LOVE the pic of you and your hubby!! So fun! So cool!!!
I usually am a morning work out kind of person too… but I have changed it up and using my lunch hour for a quick run 3 days a week…. actually working out good so far! Makes day go fast! And I don’t seem to get stressed or cranky throughout the day…… only wish I had about 30 extra min… lol
Working out at lunch is a great use of time, and a great way to make the day fly by! I haven’t run on my lunch hour in a long time, but I will bike or elliptical and today I’m doing weights. Agreed, I could use a bit more lunch hour workout time too!!
Oh nooooo I hope that foot of yours gets on the mend soon!!! Better after boston than before I guess? Silver lining? Probably not helping but still! Sending you magical healing wishes from down under!
I love Sydney’s card, so adorable. Tell her she is welcome to make me one for my birthday in September 😉

I’m just glad my stomach flu didn’t happen before/at Boston!! That would have been *the worst*. Guess what? Foot improved. Happy TechChick again 🙂
Sydney does have some skills for gift/card design. I used to pretend I was a greeting card designer when I was a kid. I think that’s where she gets it!
