Happy Easter! Our Easter morning started with a semi-early (8am) egg hunt in the house. The kids found them pretty quick, with just a few difficult to find ones.
We had a yummy breakfast of pancakes.
I had 7 miles on my training plan today, but coach Alan said I could really do as many as I wanted because I was still feeling a little sore from Saturday’s run. I decided to go for a run with Zachary around the neighborhood because it would be a great recovery run for my legs, and he needs to start running in preparation for soccer starting this week. He ran 2 miles with me at a great pace (9:57 & 9:42). Maybe with a little more endurance work he could be a new running partner someday! I was also excited about this run because it was the first time I have been on a run wearing capris this year! It was a beautiful spring day for sure.
My parents came over for Easter dinner, but it was a bit of a surprise because I told them to come over at 3pm, and they arrived at 2:30. No big deal, but I was just getting ready to sit down and relax on my couch when they arrived! So no relaxing for me, time to get cooking! We had a great dinner and were stuffed with all of the yummy food.
The kids got mini kites in their Easter basket and we needed a windy place to let them fly. So we went to the park, along with our tennis rackets for a little bit of practice. We were surprised how well the kites actually flew!
Our tennis game is in need of a lot of work, but since we’re just beginners we are happy just to return the ball.
Then we noticed that the local ice cream stand was open. What good luck that we can see it from the park! So we had to finish of the day with a (another) treat, because having a basket of chocolate goodies at home is just not enough.
Finally… here is what is on tap for my week. It’s definitely taper time, so I don’t have much going on.
- Mon – Rest day! A good way to start a week back to reality after Spring Break.
- Tues – 8 miles VO2max with 3 x 1 mile interval at 5K pace
- Weds – Rest again!
- Thurs – GA 5 miles
- Fri – 12 miles
- Sat – Rest
- Sun – 5 easy miles
- Total = 30 miles (whoa, that’s easy!!)
Q: Do you use an app to track calories? If so, which one?
A: I don’t regularly, but when I did in the past I found it very educational. I’m going to have to start watching my intake a bit more since I’m not running as much. boo!
Q: Do you use Pinterest?
A: It’s a great source of holiday themed pancakes. I’m into that kind of thing!
Q: Do you play tennis?
