Summer here in Ohio has just been less than spectacular.  That is, for someone who owns a pool.  The temperature in the pool hasn’t even gotten over 82 degrees, and that’s the chilliest I like the water to be.  I really haven’t even had a chance to lounge around the pool on the weekend yet.  Sigh.

But on a good note, on the days that it’s not raining, it has been moderately warm which is good for going to amusement parks.  No one wants to stand around sweating in line for an hour at 90 degrees.  But on this trip to Cedar Point, not only was it a really good temperature, there was also no waiting in line because we had “Fast Lane Passes”.

That meant we got to bypass the regular waiting lines and go to the very short Fast Lane line.  It was great!  In some cases it meant that we got to get on the rides immediately, and others we had to wait maybe 5 or 10 minutes.  Nice!!

No waiting meant we go to ride on the giant Ferris wheel, which is normally a long wait because it takes so long to load it.

There were some great views from up there.

From on top of the Ferris wheel we also saw this couple on the beach.  He proposed to her!!  By the smooching afterwards we can only assume she said yes 🙂

This ride was pretty trippy at night.  It started spinning way too fast at the top.  I thought it was supposed to be more of sight seeing kind of ride!  yikes

We also indulged in some delicious treats.

By the time we left the park it was pretty late.  A late night meant sleeping in late.  I’m so used to getting up early, sleeping in until 9am felt like I just slept the whole day away!  That also meant I didn’t get my long run started until 10am.  Alan joined me and we went to our favorite trail.  With all of the rain we’ve been having, the river had flooded the shores!

My run was 16 miles and was supposed to have 12 marathon pace miles in it.  Once again, hahaha on the pace run.  I think I hit maybe two of my miles.  Coach Alan said “don’t worry about it.  It’s hot.  We’re tired from all of that walking yesterday.”  That, and I felt like a slug in the middle of the day.  Not my running hours!

We were happy to be done!  Funny thing about this picture is that I’m still wearing yesterday’s makeup.  Yes, I was that tired last night and just crawled into bed after the car ride home.  I think that’s a first!

And now, here’s what’s been happening with my training…

Weights: I’ve been trying to get some more weight workouts done.  Looking forward to my tropical vacation that is happening soooooon!

2015-07-07 07.13.01-1

Still been doing that squat challenge.  My kids do it with me, because they think it’s easy.  They drop out after half a set!  It’s literally kicking my butt.

Running:

  • Mon – 8 miles, with 10 x .1 strides  – done on treadmill.  I have a lot of shows to watch on my DVR!
  • Tues – 8 miles, with .5 mile 5K repeats for 6 miles.  Also on treadmill.  I couldn’t figure out how to program my Garmin to do this, so I caught up on some more TV 🙂
  • Weds – Rest!  Weights at the gym
  • Thurs – 8 miles GA
  • Fri – 14 mile long run.  What?  Only 14 miles?  Oh, it’s a cutback week.  Heck, I’m doing that before work! (I have to work due to a scheduling change this week)
  • Sat – Rest!
  • Sun – 5 miles GA.  Hopefully I’ll get to run with my kids.  Sydney is training for XC which is starting in August.
  • Weekly total = 43 miles

Q: So tell me, do you ever sleep in your make up?

Q: Any vacation plans?

A:  Just one tiny little trip to Punta Cana.  Maybe not tiny.  Can’t wait!

Q: Any shows you only watch when you are working out?

A:  The Bachelor(ette).  Just started watching this season.  I think I have a million hours on the DVR waiting for me.  Why are those show so long??

    1. I guess the good thing is that the pool hasn’t had a chance to turn green and it’s easy to clean!
You are kind of close – have you ever been to Cedar Point?

  1. You guys always look like you’re having so much fun! Love it! Did you eat any candy floss? 😉 And what on earth is that giant sugary looking beast you are all about to eat?!? Great job on the long run- you still accomplished 16 miles which is awesome!!! 🙂 tropical vay cay sounds amazing- my heater died and I’m so cold right now! Need to buy a new one but have class from 9-5 tomorrow and then work from 6-11pm so I just cannot figure out when! 🙂
I hardly ever sleep in my makeup but I did a couple of times last year when I was living in my tent at the yoga centre! Traipsing through the woods in the middle of the night was not my favourite! 🙂

    1. It’s an “elephant ear”! Nope, no candy floss, although we saw a lot of it! What the heck, your heater died?? Wasn’t that the one that was so awesome just a few weeks/days ago? Bummer!! Hope you got it replaced.

  2. I looove elephant ears. I am so jealous that you guys got to eat one. yum.!

Good job on getting your long run in after such a busy and fun day. That takes commitment. I know if I oversleep after 9, than I don’t run. haha Running later is definitely not my running hours either. oh and, I used to sleep in make up all the time, but my face used to break out a lot, so now, never, unless it’s just mascara, cuz that’s not really on the face.

Great job on your week of running.!! you are one hot mama.! look at those toned abs.!

PS. you are your husband are too cute. How he comments on your blog 😉

    1. We usually get a funnel cake, but I gotta say, that elephant ear was way better! I especially liked the cinnamon on top compared to powdered sugar on the funnel cake. It it was sooooo huge! yum. yum. yum.
