Here in Ohio the weather just hit 83 degrees. Whew!!! I don’t even have my long sleeve clothes put away yet, because I think I was wearing sweaters last week. Crazy. But, I’ll be prepared because I finally found a very detailed arms workout!
I’m excited about this find because I’m pretty clueless when it comes to putting any weight workouts together. On Wednesday my gym day is “upper body” day. So I pretty much used to so some arm curls and kick backs and called it a day. But this workout… nope! I didn’t even get through it all in my 30 min workout time (there’s more on the other side of the page too).
I have to use lower weights next time because I started out strong, and was having a hard time lifting half the weight in the later exercises. And my arms felt like Jello when I got back to work 🙂
Weds night we had a fun Toledo Roadrunners club run.
It is called the Frantic Finish. We all turn in our best 5K time, and they start everyone staggered. So lets say the first person is going to take 60 mins to finish – they start him first. Then 10 mins later they start a 50 min finisher. And so on, and so on! And if all goes well, we all cross the finish line together. Because, you know we are all going to fit across it at the same time.
Since it’s my “easy ” running day, we started with Zachary and predicted a time of 28:00, so that’s when we started. Sydney is always in “game on” mode, so she predicted 24:00 for her finish and she started later than us.
Here we are at the finish line. We actually saw the clock hit “0”! I came in 17 seconds after the clock hit 0. Pretty darn good prediction! I was being a nice Mom and I let my son win. (haha, just kidding! It was so hot and humid I thought I was going to die. I told them to just run ahead if they wanted to!!)
Sydney was a bit off of her predictions, but we still all had fun. Because getting all hot and sweaty in 80+ heat and humidity is fun for runners!! 🙂
It’s really is just a bunch of fun because the finish never really works out quite right. But who cares because we get beer, pizza, and desserts afterwards! We each ate at least 3 cookies. Yum, yum, yum. That’s why I run!
And random prizes! It’s the best.
Today is the kid’s last day of school. We are heading over to a friend’s house for an ice cream social after the bus drops the kids off. Summer has arrived!!

Q: Do you workout a body “area” when you do weights, or an all over workout?
My days are now split into areas, so I do have tired legs for my hard runs.
Q: Do you enjoy hot, evening runs?
Ugggggh. No. I stepped on the scale this morning and had lost 3.5 pounds between two days of running in the heat. Sweat fest!
Q: Have you turned on your air conditioning in the house yet??
In pursuit of my New Year’s resolution (one Honest-to-God pull-up) I have been doing upper body on M/W/F and lower body on Tu/Th. I am definitely an early morning runner. Get out early before the heat. Had to break down and turn ion the AC this week. Looks like Summer finally made an appearance but I think Spring got lost in the transition.
Love that resolution! For me it would be more like doing 10 “real” push ups!! Hey, maybe that could be a reality with those big guns I’m going to have 🙂
You always find fun races to do!!!
I split up my upper body into back and chest normally BUT now with Hansons I think I am going to do them both on the same day and try to get it in 2-3 times a week. Well, when school is out I will be able to fit it in that much. Now I can only squeeze in 1, 2 if I am lucky!! I already feel like I am losing muscle….
Megan @ Meg Go Run recently posted…Rant!
My weekly gym trips have been sporadic because of end of school year activities, but next week should be back to regular schedule!
We do have some fun, budget friendly races around here! I still want to do a race like that “last man standing” one that you did.
For the record, I only ate ONE cookie! But I did have a 2nd beer, but since it was Bud Light it was pretty much like drinking water.
Don’t worry, I ate enough cookies to meet your quota too.
AC runs pretty much all year round here….. we maybe use the heater for a couple months out of the year!
It is so hot and humid here!!!! I have a 5k tomorrow and hoping to PR, but man, the heat slows you down!!! So, I will give it my best!!!!
I am soon going to work on core exercises! I am so weak in the core area!!! Much needed work!!! Working on setting goals….. I need goals in order to be motivated…..
