I think the weatherman said this was the first in 5 years we have not had rain on Halloween!  If you are not from Ohio, you might not know that Halloween is totally hit or miss around here.  One year you might be carrying an umbrella, the next have a costume mostly hidden by a winter coat!  So it was pretty exciting to hear that the temperature was going to be 50ish and DRY!

But before I tell you about Halloween night I wanted to tell you a fun expedition I had Friday night.  I took my son and his friend to a local “haunted corn field”.  FIELD OF TERROR!!  Note, not a picture from our corn maze, but exactly what it was like…

My daughter did not want to go, so it was a dude’s night out.  My son is 11 years old, but someone I was selected at the fearless leader through the cornfield.  This is not an actual picture I took, but it is exactly what I looked like the whole time…

There were several walk through houses set up along the route.  I was pretty brave, but when I got to the one that was most all blacked out, and you had to walk through a very small space (like inflated black trash bags on each side squishing you..) I said NO WAY. I am not going through that.  I’m claustrophobic so that was not my thing!  And I backed up through the house and walked through the cornfield around it!!  Not surprising, the boys had no protests to my plan.  ha!

The part that left us running out of the field screaming was the psycho with the chain saw chasing us!!!  Eeeeeeekkkkkkkk!!  A good time was had by all I’ll definitely do that again, even though I am a wimp.

For Halloween we went Trick or Treating around our neighborhood.  I love the neighborhood we live in, especially on Halloween night when all the kids are out.  We have such great neighbors!  They are the kind that have a party in their garage and give us a beer!  woohoo!

The kids were a robber, and a rock star.  I know, the rock star costume is a little sketchy, which was my fault.  I had great visions of what the costume would look like, and when it got assembled, it lost something in translation.

Eventually he even lost his wig (after 20 mins), but none the less he still received his share of candy for putting some effort into it 🙂

My parents passed out candy at our house, so I was able to run around with the family to gather candy all night.  And when we got home, the kids made their candy twins with the loot!  Gotta say, the neighbors are feeling quite generous this year… our kids each had around 21 full size candy bars!  WOW

Another great Halloween!  I’ll be sad when my kids don’t go out any more, but based on the ages of the kids I saw out, we have a few years left!  LOL  Hey, at least they weren’t our causing trouble, so I’m all good with that 🙂  Free candy is a treat at any age.  Just ask my Dad who probably had a tummy ache from eating a whole bunch of candy while he was passing it out.  I have proof – lots and lots of empty wrappers!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  How about you…

Q:  Do you pass out candy at your house, or go out Trick or Treating?

Q:  Did you visit any haunted houses/corn fields/scary alleys this year??

Q:  Favorite Halloween candy?

I’ll take anything chocolate.  I pass on Smarties, Laffy Taffy, and all of the other fruit flavored candy.

  1. I love the candy twins!! Your kids sure mad outhat well! I agree, as long as kids are in costume, say “trick or treat” and are polite, who cares if they are a little older? Sydney robber costume is cool!

    1. I saw I couple that I thought were parents, due to the guy’s facial hair. Yet, they got candy at all the houses with my kids! I might draw the line when they drive themselves around. haha!

    1. Funny story – at a haunted walk-thru attraction that we took my daughter to (this year!), she was so freaked when someone scared her, she grabbed my arm and bit me!!! yikes! Glad I had a jacket on.
