What? It’s Tuesday again? I had a 5 day holiday weekend, but it went by very fast. Once again, not training for anything right now. It’s my recovery period. I did have a pretty strong multi-sport week though. This is what went down the past week:
- Miles Run: 17.3
- Miles Biked: 34.4
Monday – Rest day! So pretty outside these days.
Tuesday – 4 miles, treadmill. Some morning miles to balance my day, and enjoy some TV time.
Wednesday – Dooby Two duathlon! Ran 1.6 miles, biked 13.4 miles, ran 3.2 miles. Very happy to report this event turned out great! Full race recap here. If you have been thinking of doing one, I highly recommend it!
Thursday – Rest day! I was feeling a little whipped from my race on Weds. I needed the rest!
Friday – 21 mile ride. My longest ride! Woohoo!! I went out with Alan. He makes my ride a challenge because he’s faster than me. But I really enjoyed it.
In the evening I helped out at packet pickup for the River Run 10K. The Run Toledo Ambassadors were out in full force. I didn’t run that race, but it was fun seeing my friends pick up their bibs and shirts.
Saturday – 3.5 miles. I was hoping to get 4 miles in before we spent the day at Cedar Point, but I decided to cut it a little short because I was feeling a little sore. Then I decided to throw a little sprinting in there, and actually had a 7:48 pace for the last 1/2 mile. Haven’t seen a “7:” in a long time!
We got to Cedar Point early, and rode a lot of rides. Then an unexpected downpour happened! Unexpected because I was just expecting “brief showers”. Oh no, it was not brief.
Stomping in the puddles on the way out…
Sunday – 5 miles. Another beautiful morning run. Even though it was a bit warm and humid, it was a good run. Feeling accomplished!
Monday: 10 miles! And finally, it’s Monday again. I’m not posting a workout recap next week. My kid’s last day of school is this week, so it’s going to be a free for all around here! But this is what happened on Memorial Day. I was debating on going for a ride, or a run, and then I made the decision to go for a long run! Yep, get some double digits done. It was a freaking hot day already at 7am. I was happy to have a pretty consistent pace, and to have run that far. Win! Here’s a glimpse of what it looks like around my town with the cottonwood trees bursting open right now. It’s a pool owner’s nightmare (but so fun to jump in the piles on my run!).
Hope you had a great holiday weekend!
Q: Do you have problems with cottonwood trees near you?
Q: Are the schools out where you live?
Q: Do you have a pool?
Wow we do not have cottonwood trees and I never saw anything like that! We have school this week- Tues-Fri. The kids get out at lunch on Fri and then they are done. Teachers stay the full day and go back Mon and Tues, then we’re done. This is a very early end of the year for us. But it seems like we start earlier and earlier in August every year so I suppose it only makes sense! I am very excited to be done with school and I just don’t feel like going today. I know that sounds terrible, but the kids have the attitude that school is already over and that they can do whatever they want. UM, NO!

I hear ya – it has to be crazy at school this week! I figured it was an easy week, but Sydney was studying a lot this weekend for some tests that are happening on her last days. Bummer!! Zach is super excited because if history repeats, they have foot long hot dogs for lunch on the last day of school – and that’s a big deal. 🙂
Interesting that you don’t have cottonwood trees!!
We don’t have cottonwood trees here. We do have a ton of pools here. The pool is .25 miles from my house but always packed with kiddos.
Great week of training, racing, and volunteering! I love how you balance all the things :). I have never done a Duathlon, we do have a swim/run here in the Fall and I volunteered at that, it looked like a lot of fun.

So lucky to not have cottonwood trees. They always pop all over the place right after we open the pool, then clog up the filter. Blah!! Pools with kids are not that relaxing. I know. haha!! Is there a name for a swim/run race?
