My race calendar is starting to take shape! The big one on my list is the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon on April 28th of course. That’s what I’m training for right now. (race recap from 2018 here)
The next big thing on my race calendar is the Sylvania Triathlon on August 4th. And I got brave… this year I’m bumping my distance up to the Olympic triathlon! (1.5k swim, 26.2 mile bike, 10k run) I will really need to get more more training for the longer swim, but it was so fun last year I couldn’t resist. Alan will be doing the Olympic triathlon too. His first tri! Remember last year? I think I smiled non-stop for a week after winning my age group! 🙂
Fun fact about the Sylvania event – they have triathlon, duathon (bike, run) and aquabike (swim, bike)! You can even compete in a relay team if you have friends who want to join you. So many options!!
In November I’ll be running the Columbus half marathon again. I debated doing the full, but I really do enjoy the half. I will be wearing warmer clothes if it’s the same temperatures again!!
Another race that’s on my radar is the Mohican Trail run. I did the marathon distance 2 years ago and had a blast, despite the 90 degree temperatures that day. (see race recap here) Once again I’m tossing around the idea of running the 50 miler, but I’ll have to see how I’m feeling after Glass City. Otherwise, I’ll be happy enough to run the marathon again!
As for the other months? I’m sure I will be filling in with some other favorites, and some new ones too. Perhaps…
- March Mayhem Miles – March 23rd: a new race, and great tune up for Glass City. Distances available: 15 miles, 10.5 miles, 6.5 miles or a 5K.
- WTOL River Run 10K – May 25th: downtown Toledo, run over two bridges and of course, the river!
- Some duathlon… I bought the annual membership from USA Triathlon, instead of just a “day pass”. I’ve gotta get my money’s worth out of that! One of these duathlons are on my mind.
- And maybe, the Olander 24 Hr Ultra and Relay again?? Good times!! (recap from last year here)
- Maybe Zach will join me again for the Jeep 4 Miler?? Remember those sweet medals with headlights that actually light up??
Ok, now I’m just getting off track. Choices, choices….
Q: How about you? Any races on your 2019 calendar??
Q: Anyone running any new events (to them) or distances (going longer??)?
Q: Got any weekend plans?
Not me. And I’m not sad about that!
Wow, so many races! I have two booked in at the moment, the Liverpool Rock’n’Roll marathon in May and Race to the Stones Day 2 in July (my first ultra, 50k/31 miles). That’s probably enough for me although I might sign up for the Birmingham Half Marathon in October to have something to look forward to after the big races. I did love the Birmingham Canal Canter last year but 26.2 or 18 miles might be a bit much a month after the ultra!

Is the weather usually pretty good for the Race to the Stones race? I just checked it out and saw it was in July and looked a bit in the open area. That would be hot weather around here! The video looked fun though! The 50K that I ran was in the woods and there were a lot of leaves on the ground… which resulted in me tripping over tree roots several times because they were hidden. I was so frustrated!!
You are a racing machine! Only thing on my calendar is the Hyner View Challenge. I am doing the 25k distance. I have wanted to run this trail race for a long time and finally got in! It’s in April. My bro is doing the 50k.
The Hyner race has a lot of elevation gain in it, doesn’t it? I was just Googling… looks very challenging! That will be fun that your brother will be there too.
Yes it does! My dad did the 25k a couple years ago. He said it was very hard. I better start training on hills! Enough of this treadmill bullshit… 🙂
My goal this year is to actually run all the races I registered for! Although it was fun cheering you on at Columbus, I really missed the running portion.
I’ve missed your running at races too!
