Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there! I had a lot of time with my kids this week, which was great. It’s week 8 of stay-at-home/stay safe. In Ohio we opened up offices this week (medical, etc). Not much changed for me. I actually ran 26.2 miles this week (not on purpose!). I biked a bit and did weights. A well rounded week!
Monday – 40 mins elliptical. When we last talked, I was getting ready to go for a bike ride on the most wonderful May day. That ride ended up being 21 miles (!), which is farther than I’ve rode in a long time, so today was definitely a no-running day! Here’s me at work, following our new orders. Why am I even wearing a mask? No one is near me.
Walked 2 miles after work.
Tuesday – 3 miles running, as part of 45 min Peloton bootcamp class. This was my first bootcamp class. I liked it, but not “loved” it. I did get a good sweat though! Sprinting on hills? Maybe not the best choice for me, but it got me going. It was hard to pick a class since they are all so different, but I settled on a core class, 45 mins. I did have a couple others bookmarked for later. Maybe I’d like some strength work in between my running better? Then I ran 1 mile for cool down and got my 3 miles done for the day.
Later in the day, my son got his braces off!!! I got a call that the orthodontist office had reopened and was able to go in right away. I knew he was ready, but they didn’t even want to schedule the removal, they just did it! Woohoo!
My son and I did another Peloton strength workout. 20 mins this time instead of 30. Had to make time for our Mexican fiesta!
Hola! Another quarantine fail… waited until 4:30 to try to order from our local Mexican restaurant, and guess what? Their phones were busy and the online ordering was down. Shocker. So, it was another visit to Chipotle for Taco Tuesday & Cinco de Mayo. No worries, I do love Chipotle! And I now know why I stick with drinking beer. One strong margarita and the rest of my night was unproductive 😉 [looking at the picture I now notice the food to alcohol ratio is a bit off, that may be the reason…ha!]
Wednesday – 40 mins elliptical, 3.1 miles running. In an unprecedented move, I went grocery shopping after dinner. After seeing my daughter and all of her coworkers in masks at the store, I just felt like I needed to go out for a run. The weather was great and the sun was just going down. I was just going to be out for a few mile “joggy jog”, but when my 2nd mile was faster than the first, I decided to pick up the pace. Not only did I get a decent 3rd mile, I actually hit 7:39 the last tiny bit. Woot! Who am I?
Thursday – 5 miles. I had already planned to run with my daughter, because you know, equality for the kids and it’s not fair if one kid gets donuts and iced coffee and other doesn’t ;), so I kept my running date with her. It’s rare that we run together so I was looking forward to this. Phew, that run last night got me and I ended up walking twice. Oh well, the company and treats were great!
Friday – 2.5 mile walk, 40 mins elliptical. Yesterday was a beautiful day, today was cold and windy. I just hung out in my sunroom most of the day. As you can see, it’s a lovely place to be 🙂 No complaints here.
My son got a new bike. I’m so excited for him. He’s been begging me for a new bike for a while now and the shop finally got one in. Our bike shop has been selling bikes like crazy. We nabbed this one right as they got their inventory delivered one morning. It never made it to the sales floor.
Saturday – 10 miles, long run. It was COLD out. I wore my fleece tights. I was ready to put that stuff away. So glad I didn’t! It is really May?? This was a decent run. Started out slow, and the last two miles were the fastest. Go me!
Mountain biking – 8 miles. The big highlight of the day was going on the trails with my son and husband. I’ll write about this later in the week, but I’ll tell you now that I had a blast!
Sunday – 5 easy miles. Happy Mother’s day!! Started out my day with an easy run around my ‘hood, then my husband made breakfast for the family. I also got some nice gifts including flowers, dark chocolate and a beautiful necklace! We also played Just Dance for an hour.
I also got to visit my Mom & Dad, and trimmed my Mom’s hair. She really appreciated that 🙂 I’m glad to see my parents aren’t driving each other too crazy in quarantine (at least not this week!). Love ya Mom!

Question of the week…. If you have one, how did you pick the name of your blog? What does it mean?
A: “TechChick” was my name on the now defunct Runners World online forum. I work in programming and technology, and for the longest time I was the only woman doing that at my company. When I started my blog I wrote a lot about our travels, our family adventures. We are always on the go, so I thought it was fitting. How about you?
Q: Have you ever been mountain biking?
It always makes me smile when I hit 26-ish miles for the week. I will be so glad to put my winter running clothes away! Looks like we have a few more chilly days next week so not quite yet. I wouldn’t say that the food to alcohol ratio was off, just that the margarita was ambitious;-)
I went with a working title for my blog and after 9 years I guess it’s permanent? I lived on Birchwood Street at the time and my first post was an apple pie. The closest I’ve come to changing it was when my stepson came up with “Cooking the Books”, which fits b/c I’m an accountant.

Ah, that’s what it means! I actually Googled to see if there was such a dish as a Birchwood Pie! Too funny. The margarita was an upgrade. The previous week’s version just had ice and wasn’t blended. The tequila made me gag! When it was blended it went down oh so smooth 😉
Oh that margarita looks delicious! But yes, you need more food, haha!
I love your floral top sports bra in the pic before the Cinco de Mayo! Where is it from?
It’s actually a tank top with the fitted bra. It’s from Old Navy! Every once in awhile Old Navy has some pieces that you have to order online and they have really nice touches. Kinda like what you might find in Athleta, but not as many details and not as much money. I’ve found some really nice running shorts and shirts, and that tank top! Seems like they are some sort of special line or something. I don’t see them very often though.
TravellingCari fit because I was living in Japan when I got this domain name, and it was a travel blog on and off. Running is kind of like traveling. LOL. It, like my email, is pretty much guaranteed to be me anywhere online.
Happy mother’s day!
Glad you had a good week with yout kids. And yay on no braces, bike. My brother also had to stalk his bike store for one. Boo on the weather. Here too.
Cari recently posted…it may or may not be May
I think my son was more excited about the bike than the braces, but I guess that’s a good thing because then I know he really wanted it! It’s great to see everyone getting away from the electronics and bike riding.
It seems like everyone had cold weather this week! Nice job getting your workouts in.
My blog name came from the fact that I never come home from a run when I say I’m going to (I always take the long way home, lol) and as a play on getting older. It just fits.
Happy Mother’s Day!
That’s funny about taking the long road home. It also reminds me of the times when my husband ended up running longer than he told me (or had a bad run) and I was about 5 mins away from sending out a search party for him!! Wish he ran with his phone like I do.
Hooray for no braces! And all the runs with your family. Yeah, I thought I’d washed my fleece lined tights for the last time, too & wore them yesterday.
Can I come & live in your sunroom? Just sayin’. Looks amazing. Love the necklace, too! Sweet!
We painted the clouds on the walls and ceilings by ourselves and I’m so happy it turned out so well. My favorite room of the house for sure.
I’m glad that you tried out the bootcamp class! The Peloton bootcamp classes can be a little tricky because they have 30,45 and 60 minutes classes. I normally go the 60 minute ones to get the most “bang for my buck” because I like to get at least 3 miles of running during the class.
My first thought when I saw that photo was that the margarita was large – One of those would totally put me to sleep, lol. Bummer about the original dinner plans but happy you were able to get Chipotle!
Happy Mother’s Day – I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating!
My burrito does look small, but they seem pretty big when you eat them! My husband (our bartender!) likes a big, strong margarita for sure.
So many choices on the classes! I think I tagged another one because it said something about punk rock. I will give it another try soon.
I love that your son is working out so much with you. I am getting into the bootcamp classes too. I think I am going to do the bootcamp program for 2 weeks and see how it goes! Thanks for linking up and have a great week
Bootcamp classes confuse me – do I do one on a “run” day, or a “strength” day! LOL! I’m a creature of habit, it’s hard for me to branch off.
Great week for you!! I have always had a fascination with dragonflies, and I’m always running out the door at the last minute (I’m a stud at procrastinating)…hence Running on the Fly LOL I wore a flannel layer yesterday morning, and I was overdressed by the time I finished, but it was chilly for those first couple of miles.
Oh, that’s a good reason for your blog name! I’m writing this week off… but next week is looking pretty great in the extended forecast! (as it should, I mean, it’s mid May for darn sake!!)
Nice week of workouts! I am so over the winter weather and having to wear tights, gloves, etc. My name doesn’t have any profound meaning- I guess I just chose it because I like to share the ups and downs and challenges of running, and just taking things one mile at a time. My blog name used to be Running Out Of Wine which was much more fun but I felt like I outgrew it and never talked about wine, but now I kind of miss it.

I do remember your former blog name! My wine talk would be pretty limited. I just drink sweet whites or rose! And we make a delicious fruit blend wine. Yum!
Sounds like a good week and a good Mother’s Day :). I haven’t tried any of the peloton boot camp classes yet, I’ll have to give one of those a try.

There are so many bootcamp classes to pick from. I didn’t want to do a strength workout because I save that fun for working out with my son, so “core” it was.
That mountain biking trail looks fun! I’ve always wanted to try it. We don’t have many in Florida though. We’ve also been getting super weird weather for this late in the year, but I’m not complaining. It’s better than the alternative of 80 feels like 95. 😉
Pretty Lil Mudder actually came from when I used to be really big into obstacle course racing. I’ve since calmed down on that front and am more into regular road races lately. I’ve thought of changing my blog name but everyone knows me on social media by that name, I think it would be more trouble than its worth to change it!

Ah – that blog name makes sense! This is true – probably not a lot of wooded trail areas near you. My son said he wished we live in Colorado due to their cool trails. 🙂
Great week of workouts! I haven’t tried one of the bootcamp classes yet – they sound like a good sweat-fest.
Congrats to your son for getting his braces off! My youngest is anxious to get an update from our ortho, but offices here are still closed.
Happy (belated) Mother’s Day!
I was concerned that his teeth were going to move too far in the wrong direction with his appointment being missed! I hope your offices open up soon. That’s tough to wait even longer!!
Runs With Pugs is my blog name. I run and I have pugs, and I was trying to riff off Dances With Wolves. Of course, the pugs aren’t at all interested in running, so there’s that LOL.
I’m so glad your son got his braces off! I know that was certainly a concern! I think mine has a dentist appointment in August? I have no idea anymore.
I’m glad you had a nice Mother’s Day. My mom came to visit (in the driveway, tailgate style) on Saturday, and then we had a tailgate brunch with our neighbors on Sunday. And I got a puppy, so everything is perfect.
The mental picture of pugs running is adorable though 🙂 A tailgate brunch sounds fun! I do miss social gatherings!!
You had a great week! I do love the Peloton bootcamp format, but I would never choose a core one! I think it reminds me of the Orangetheory classes I’m missing. I made chicken fajitas at home on Tuesday. I don’t think my husband even knew why. Nice to be able to see your parents!
I feel like Taco Tuesday is something we all look forward to now in quarantine. Well, tacos and those margaritas! 😉
Hello TC,
Discovered you from BLK Knights Blog. DumpingCrackBook is the name of my blog and that stems from FB’s deteriorating pattern. Way back when, there was a tab on FB called PHOTOS. When you clicked there, only showed the photos from that day as your news feed. I began my blog as a way for my friends to follow my Lead King 25K Trail Run training. And I haven’t stopped.
To answer your second question, I live in Colorado, I mtb by default. I raft the Mighty Colorado by default. We hike just because. All of us are outdoors as much as possible because why not. This leads me to the banner title of my blog, What Else Is Possible
Stay Strong,
Cheers

Colorado is my favorite!! We love to ski there. We camped near Estes Park a few years ago and the summer was just as breathtaking as the winter. So beautiful! My son is envious of the mountain bike trails there.
Happy belated Mother’s Day! I love that homemade card featuring the coronavirus, lol! Great week of workouts! It’s fun to go fast and get those negative splits! I’ve never gone mountain biking…I really would like to get a new bike at some point since I do have lots of fun trails nearby.
I ended up making my Mom a Mother’s Day card too. I was in no mood to go into the store with all of the people on Saturday. Too many!! Eeek.
DebRuns was on my vanity plate on my SUV for years so when I started my blog, it seemed like the prefect name.
I love the picture of you with your children! And congrats to your son on snagging a bike before it even made it to the sales floor.

My husband used to have a vanity plate on his yellow convertible Mustang – “HACKKER”. It’s in reference to him being a programmer also, but the DMV made him spell it that way so it wouldn’t mean “hacker”, like someone who slashes people! I think people also thought it might be a golf term. But, the Mustang hasn’t made it out of the garage much lately so I made him cancel the plates. I’m so mean 🙂
Your sunroom looks so beautiful and comfortable!! That margarita looks delicious! I like Chipotle too and also like to get their bowls. I never put Winter or Summer running clothes away because there is no room for it. All of it is out there for me to get when I need it. I am excited to run in shorts and tank tops/short sleeve tops.

I do love hanging out in our sunroom! All of the windows just make it feel like I’m outside. The sunlight does make it a bit of struggle to use my laptop out there sometimes, but I’ll take it!
