I’m a bit surprised I have been on a training plan for 9 weeks now! It started out kind of random, and now I’m all in. Only 3 more weeks until my race. The degree of discomfort from my lower abs has varied with the workouts, and I think this week it was a bit worse. That’s no surprise based on my workouts this week. It was my peak week. The surprising thing in my life these days is how it ends up being Sunday (again) and I have a partially finished blog post, a list of things to do, and anxiousness that it’s Monday so soon! I always think I’m going be more organized with each new week, and ahead of the game, but sigh, that never happens. Well, here’s to positive thinking and being more organized THIS week 🙂

Last Sunday we went to Cedar Point to enjoy Halloweekends. The park looked festive!

Interesting occurrence: our car got stopped going up the first hill on a roller coaster! This is a picture someone else took, but we were in that car when it just stopped. An employee came out and collected a guy’s phone because he had it out on the ride!! Ugh. It’s a huge safety concern.

Mon – 5 easy miles.  Monday miles!  I started a new audiobook, and finally took a picture of the heart I see in my neighborhood street.  With all of the asphalt squiggles, this one pops out at me all of the time.

Tues – 8 miles, speedwork.  This was another sweatfest speedwork session, just like last week!  70 degrees.  Yuck.  I do enjoy the challenge of this workout though – alternating miles of half marathon pace and threshold pace.  I picked 8:50ish for HMP and 8:25ish for threshold.  Done!  Garmin agreed that it was challenging. Ha!

Weds – Rest day! No group ride today. It was pouring down rain all day!

Thurs – 6 miles, hill repeats! In the evening I sub coached for the 9:00-10:00 min pace group. Part of this group was my training group from spring. Fun to see everyone again! The workout was 4 x “Monument Hill”. That’s the hill at the end of my race in November. I took it easy but it was still a good workout.

During the day it rained, and rained, and rained. I went to see Free Guy with my husband. It was just us, and one other person in the theater!

Fri – 5 easy miles. Very easy miles. Recovering from that workout last night! It was chilly too (50). I busted out my capris and arm sleeves!

I made it to the gym today for weights too. Yeah! And Friday night means football games and marching band! We had to relocate to another stadium because our field was flooded.

Sat – 12 miles, long run! I sub coached for the same training group. There was a lot of chatter so it was a great group to be with. And oh, it rained the whole time!! I really hoped it wasn’t going to it us because this was the longest miles for many (12 for the half and 20 for the full). But it was a light rain and it felt good. Someone even took a bunch of pictures. We averaged 10:12 pace and everyone was happy 🙂 (hey wait, is that the same shirt as yesterday? busted! but Lululemon does have great stink control, right?)

My son got to march in a parade today.

Sun- Rest day. Catching up on sleep. And, going to pick apples today!! We will be taking our annual trek to the apple orchard. My daughter will be joining us. Yay!! And here’s a Petunia update (our foster kitten). She is doing well but we did have a bit of a scare because she wasn’t eating and losing weight. We have been giving her special mixtures of food and kitten Pedialyte. I think she has bounced back!

Q: Have you been to a movie lately?

I really liked Free Guy!!

Q: What is your movie streaming service of choice these days?

Netflix for us. And I heard that Tiger King is coming back. I can’t wait to see the crazy again!

  1. You are torturing me with the pictures of Petunia! I want her so badly! Whatever you’re doing must be working, because she looks healthy. It’s funny how fast they grow- she already looks much older than last week.
Ha, I like how you admitted to wearing the same shirt twice (as we know, that’s one of the things that makes me go “hmmmm!”) I totally believe you that it doesn’t smell. : )
Seems like a great week of running! It sounds like your sports hernia is just kind of reminding you that it’s there- but a little discomfort is okay.
Good luck with your organization this week!

    1. I figured I would point out the obvious about my shirt just for you 🙂 I’m certain it didn’t stink after all of that rain either. ha! Petunia weighs almost a pound now!

    1. Runners do love to see pictures of themselves (well, the good ones) so that was nice you were able to take pictures! I hope your week wasn’t bad. I do miss your weekly recaps and seeing your town!

      1. Ah, thank you! I haven’t done a weekly running post since just before lockdown, as it felt too sad during Covid times … I should have a race report next month though, but from a big park.

  2. I’m glad Petunia is doing better. She’s so stinkin cute.

Your son’s band uniforms are pretty elaborate!

3 weeks to go! Best of luck. My sister Emily who lives in Columbus and my sister Erin (who I’ve paced for a few fulls) are both running the half there too!

    1. Marching band is serious business at our high school! The uniforms are very elaborate. They take great pride in them!
That’s cool your sisters are running Columbus! It will be interesting to see if our review of the race is similar.

  3. Petunia looks so cute!

I hope that you enjoy apple picking today! I’ve gone a few times and it’s always so much fun.

My best friend lives in Cleveland and she always tells me how fun Cedar Point is. I want to go there the next time I visit her.

    1. You MUST go to Cedar Point! As you know I love it. I really hope we can get back to see the haunted houses and other scary places before the season ends.
Apple picking was busy! Surprising because a bag of U-pick apples was $25 😆

    1. The guy with the phone was 2 rows behind me and I never heard him say anything. 🙁 He was probably trying to not draw attention to himself though. I think they should take his phone to security for the first offensive and if it happens again, kick him out of the park!

  4. I just heard about Tiger King on the radio (yesterday? or was it Friday?). Another train wreck of a series…UGH. That’s a lot of rain! It’s stayed pretty dry here…a few sprinkles one morning, but it didn’t last very long. I have several apples from our tree at work…I need to get some stuff made from those, and still have tomatoes awaiting my attention.

    1. The rain caused the football game to be relocated, and there were other activities we had to reschedule that were supposed to happen at that home game. On Saturday we had to cancel a big band event because it couldn’t happen at our school. A bummer because we have been planning it for awhile!

  5. Such a cute kitten

Running in the rain is no fun but bearable with others.

Another solid week for you. Can’t believe how fast time goes by.

  6. Congrats on conquering your peak week! Nice! Also very nice to see a movie IN a theater. If I knew there’d only be one other person there I’d go!

We have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBOMax — I pointed out to my husband that it’s about the cost of going to the movies which now we haven’t done in a couple of years. We’re presently watching Westworld.

Scary to be stuck on the roller coaster! Glad you’re ok!

    1. As soon as the rollercoaster stopped I figured that was the issue. The girls behind me were a bit freaked out by I really didn’t think there was a problem. It’s so stupid that people try to keep their phones out. It’s so unsafe!!

  7. Great week for you! I love all the pumpkins – it hits different here in Florida, because pumpkins and 80 something degree weather just don’t go together LOL! Sure, we will go to a pumpkin patch, but we can’t carve our pumpkins til the day or two before Halloween because they will rot, and we can’t wear cozy flannels, boots and scarves.

I have not been back to the movies. I don’t feel comfortable, but I have decided to see Dear Evan Hansen. We have a theatre where I can go during the day and reserve my seat, and that’s what I’m going to do.

We have AppleTV, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max and Disney +. We will rent Free Guy when it comes available in a few weeks.

    1. That is true about carving the pumpkins! I can imagine they rot fast. I think I will decorate my house for fall this weekend. It’s time!
It was pretty funny that only one other person was at the movies. But then again, I’m sure Thursday afternoons were never that busy!

  8. I don’t think anyone would have noticed you were wearing the same shirt on Friday and Saturday had you not outed yourself (because of the rain and it being wet, it looked much darker on Saturday). 🙂

Petunia looks much healthier already than she did in the first picture you shared. Glad she’s doing better!

We haven’t been to a movie in forever… even before Covid. We’re just not movie people, or TV really other than sports. With that being said, we have Apple TV, Netflix, and Prime. LOL

    1. Petunia is doing well this week! I was a bit concerned about her weight loss, so I’m glad we noticed it right away. She’s destined to be a tiny kitty though I think!
