It has been a wonderful Christmas week at my house. With the holidays I pretty much only worked 1 1/2 days this week. Of course the office wasn’t very productive anyways, so there’s that. We did a little overnight trip and filled our week with holiday merriment. Workouts have happened when they can. I made an appointment to get my knee looked at, but then canceled it. If it’s still an issue in the upcoming weeks I will get it looked at, but it’s rarely anything to report so not really worth my time and money to see a Dr at this point! I’m doing PT exercises for it and have kept my running to every other day and no more than 3 miles. I really think it’s helping! This is what went down this week….
Mon – 3 mile run. It’s funny, I used to be up at pre-dawn most days of the week to run before the kids went to school. But now I struggle to get up to run by 7am!! Today was a win because I was out the door early enough to see the sunrise at 7:30am. Here is what my repaired snowmen look like with all of their lights working.

We went to Kings Island for Winterfest. We get free entry into this park with our Cedar Point pass. The park is about 3 hours away. We will be visiting it next summer for sure. The park looked AMAZING with all of the holiday decorations and lights. We got to ride a few coasters too! Thankfully it was not super cold out, but I was glad to be wearing my thicker winter coat by the end of the night. We closed the place down at 10pm. So fun!

Tues – We went to Jungle Jim’s International Market before heading back home. Have you heard of it? There are two stores near Cincinnati. The store is HUGE! It has food from all over the world. We spent 90 mins just wandering around the store and came out with a cart full of food.

Weds – 3.25 miles running. We met with a group of friends for a run along the river for Christmas Eve. In the past this group met at 7am but this year it was 8am. I told my boss I’d be to work at 9am… but somehow after chatting, running 3 miles and stopping home to shower, I made it to work at 9:45. Oops. Since my office closed at noon, it was a very short work day!! But no worries because my boss was part of this group 🙂

The rest of the day was spent doing all the Christmas things…
Making “gingerbread” houses – Cheez It and Skittles!

Watching Christmas movies and playing games on Netflix.

Thurs – Merry Christmas! Went for a walk today. It’s quite nice out, but not the snowy Christmas I’d hoped for! Other cardio included present unwrapping, cookie eating and playing cards. A great day!

Alan got me a very funny candle. It’s so perfect!!

Fri – 3 mile run on the treadmill and some PT exercises.
Sat – 1.5 mile walk. Just a quick walk with my friend around the neighborhood, and then I went to the gym. I did an arm workout led by my daughter. She lifts much heavier than I do so it will be interesting so see how sore I am on Sunday!

Sun – I get to run today (yay!) and will be going to the climbing gym with my kids. Well, if my arms are still functioning…
My kids recreated a picture from 2011. I love it ❤️

Q: Have you played games on Netflix yet?
The controller works quite well!
Q: Have you played Uno – No Mercy or Monopoly Deal?
Both are new card games for us. I thought they were a lot of fun!

Hah! I gave my son Uno No Mercy and we had a blast with it. The hand-swapping makes it extra-chaotic and I even won a round — he usually beats us all.
LOL at being late to work — with your boss. That’s the best.
I was surprised how long the game of Uno lasted though. But yes, fun! My mom kept saying – “what, we have to switch hands again??” She enjoyed it too.
I love that your boss was part of your running shenanigans and fully embraced you getting to work late. Everyone should have a boss who participates in similar activities!
I love the picture your son and daughter recreated – both are so sweet.
I don’t think I’d make it past the Tiki Bar at Jungle Jim’s! LOL
My coworker is from India, so I surprised her with a gift of food from her country from Jungle Jims. It was a big hit!
I was surprised my boss showed up this year to the run because he is also a deacon and usually has some church stuff to do that morning. I guess the later timing worked well for him this year!
what a wonderful Christmas week!
I love that you were late but that your boss was right there with you! That absolutely makes it ok.
King’s Dominion is beautiful all lit up! I love that!
I saw that King’s Dominion canceled their Winterfest in 2025! And, they have no plans to bring it back. 🙁 Sounds like a cost cutting measure since Six Flags took it over. Bummer!!
What a fun week! And, I think opening presents is cardio activity for cats- Foxy was so into all the boxes, paper and ribbons and then he completely conked out afterwards. He didn’t even get to play with his new toys!
That candle is hilarious. Your week sounds SUPER FUN! And, glad the knee is behaving. It sounds like what you’re doing is perfect.
We got our cats each a toy that was loaded (super full!) with catnip. They really loved them on Christmas. Then the thrill of it just wore off because I haven’t seen them play with them again. Geez! They are more interested in chewing on the needles of the tree again now that it is accessible again.
Ok the Cheezit house would be so fun to make and eat! That winter lights park looks really special. Glad to hear your knee is starting to feel better. Looks like a fun week of family activity!
I forgot to mention that days later the Cheez It house looked odd. The orange from the crackers started to bleed into the white frosting, making the frosting orange! It was really weird, and kind of gross! So nope, it will not be eaten.
Your Christmas week looks very festive and fun, especially your trip to Kings Island! This old lady would have said it was too late to go to Jungle Jims, lol.
I didn’t realize Netflix had games. I’ll have to check it out.
Happy New Year Lisa!
Oh, Jungle Jim’s was the next day – but I didn’t mention we went out for sushi at 8pm on Friday night. That was LATE. So hungry.
The Netflix games are pretty good. A lot like the Jackbox games we play on the computer, but on the big screen!
You had a fun-filled week (as always) with so much festive stuff going on. I love that photo recreation by your kids!
Hope your knee gets better with some PT exercises – that can work miracles but knee problems are so tricky!
Amusement parks at Christmas are really special. Where I used to live in Sweden there’s a park where they organise a Christmas market/fair that goes on a few weekends before Christmas, it’s so pretty and festive there. I kind of miss going there during the Christmas period.
Christmas lights are the best. Going on rollercoasters in the cold dark is a bit questionable, but it’s pretty fun too. Our park (Cedar Point) is far too cold to have any sort of event like this. That’s why we have to drive 3 hours south to enjoy theirs. Kings Island also had a few market stalls set up with vendors. It’s a good event.
We played some games on Netflix last night and this afternoon! I didn’t know those were possible, LOL! The amusement park looks great with all hose lights! I bet that was fun 😉
Looks like a fun and festive week! Yay for a half day for christmas eve and getting in a run. I didnt know you could play games on Netflix — I’ll have to check that out! Love the recreated photo.
Sounds like a really fun Christmas week, Lisa. Some runs, some Christmas activities and a wonderful holiday with your family. I love the candle (I have a similar one that says “Smells like you just ran a marathon” LOL
