I wanted to do a quick break in the vaca recap to let you know about a half marathon that’s coming up – one that I’ll be running again. I think this will be my 4th year running it! One thing about the Toledo area that I love is the number of great races we have here, and at great prices! The Boy Scout half marathon will be on September 3rd, at 7:30 am (love the early start time!) in Bowling Green. It’s a great tune up race for many Fall marathons so that’s just one good reason to put it on your race calendar. Not up for a half marathon quite yet – there is also a 5K. Options for everyone!
Here are a few other details:
- Easy Parking (** = low stress on race morning!)
- Low Price (** = more money for other races, or shoes!!)
- Custom Finisher Medal
- 8 Fluid Stations
- High Quality Tech Shirt
- Immediate Results/Awards (** I love that they are handed out when you cross the finish!)
- Cash Prizes for Overall Top 5
- Fast and Flat (** flat!! love that too!)
- Benefitting Erie Shores Council & Brown Bag Project
And there are lots of Boy Scouts handing out water and cheering you on!! Seriously, that’s a great thing. My son and husband helped out at a race water stop this past weekend and 90% of the cups were handed out by my son. Who can resist a kid giving ‘ya water or just a high five along the course 🙂
Pricing for both the 5K and half will go up on August 19th, so don’t miss out on saving a few $$. Last year we got these really nice shirts… I’m sure you won’t want to miss out on that!!

Q: Do you schedule tune up races during your marathon/half marathon training?
Q: Are there any Fall marathoners out there?
Q: Do you prefer to get water from a kid or adult?
Cuteness vs skill, right? 🙂
