Week 11 is done, getting closer to race day! It was another busy, but good week. My knee pain was only a bit annoying, and kind of intermittent. Here’s what happened:
- Training for: Glass City Marathon, April 28th
- Miles run: 47.5 this past week
Monday – 6 miles, treadmill miles. Rise and shine Monday morning!! Easy miles, nothing new to see here 🙂
Tuesday – 6.5 miles, treadmill – intervals. This was a fun workout of cutdown intervals. 1600, 1200, 1000, 800, 600 & 400. All with 2 mins of active rest. With warm up and cool down I got 6.5 miles. I even bumped up the pace with each interval. Go me! I tried out my new tank top from Athleta. Love it!
Wednesday – 5 miles of easy treadmill miles. Fun thing of the day – I’ve been catching up on The Good Place on Netflix. Anyone else watch this show? It’s getting quite interesting!
Thursday – 10 miles, tempo run! It was unseasonably warm today. It was 50 when I went for my run! I know that usually means shorts, but my last run outside had been in fleece tights, so it just felt odd.
I did end up ditching my shirt half way through the run.
My paces were good, so this was a big win for my week.
Friday – Rest day! Enjoyed sleeping in, then having lunch with Alan 🙂
I did spend the evening working the race crew for the Blarney Shamrockin’ Shuffle. We assembled the finish area in the wind and rain!! (boo on bad weather!) Luckily the rain cleared by race time at 8pm. I’ll post a recap of this event later this week. Here’s some of the set up crew (that’s me in the pink jacket!)
Saturday – 20 miles, long run!! I woke up to a fresh snow today. OH NO! I thought the snow was totally going to ruin my plans. I also was questioning my choice of being up a bit too late last night and being out in the cold setting up that race. I was unprepared for my long run and the snow wasn’t helping the situation!
Luckily, it didn’t even snow at the trail which is only 10 mins from my house. Crazy! The trail was clear and beautiful. I’m also glad I met my friend for this run because I was really not organized in the morning, or feeling it when I woke up. Another jump shot to celebrate our long run!
And this is what it looked like when we landed. Jumping is hard. LOL!!!
Sunday – Rest day. No big fitness going on, but I did help out at a race again.

Q: Did you participate in a St. Patrick’s day race this year?
Q: Did you eat anything special in honor of St. Patty’s day??
Does green frosted Shamrock shaped cookies count? And the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake? 🙂 Then yes, I did.
Q: How’s the weather near you? Has Spring hit yet?
Ha! After months and months of slowly getting back I finally beat you on weekly mileage (50)!
What? I’ll be late for dinner tonight…. 😉 I’m sure you’ll beat me next week too. I had my week of glory!
Spring came & went in basically one day, and unfortunately I was sick & didn’t even get out. It’ll be back, though. Although we had snow showers this morning, nothing really stuck. Just a few miles can make all the difference (and elevation).

Well boo that you didn’t get to enjoy the weather! I hope you are feeling better. My son was sick all week. Coughing all day. Missed school a day and track practices. He is all better now. Yahoo!! I really don’t need to get sick now!
Nice job getting that 20 miler in! That would not have been fun on a treadmill! Great week of workouts for you. Thanks for linking up w us

I do have a bunch of movies I need to watch… but for sure the outdoors was the place to be for that 20 miler!
Your jumping pictures cracked me up! Whew, it is hard work. 🙂
Glad the path was clear for your 20 miles. Running 20 miles in snow would have made me cry.
I was so bummed when I saw the snow! I even put 2 extra pairs of shoes in my car, just in case (trail shoes, a “dry” pair of shoes). I really lucked out!
I know how hard those jump shots are, especially after 20 miles LOL So, you’re in Ohio (I probably knew that, but I’d forgotten)…have you ever done the Air Force Marathon in Dayton? I’m hoping to do that in September (just haven’t pulled the trigger on registering). Your interval workout (from Tuesday) sounds interesting! I might have to try that (or something very similar) next time I’m stuck with Milly. I’m really hoping I can get most of my miles outside now that the temps are on the upswing. Thanks for linking with us!!
I haven’t run the Air Force marathon. I have friends who have. I have been to the museum 🙂
The interval workout was good. I like when the distances get shorter!!
Wow! What a great week of training for you. I love that you also volunteered to help on a race yesterday after running 20 miles the day before. You are a real trooper!
The race was a lot of fun, despite the crappy weather right before it. In fact, it wasn’t even a race – just a 3 mile “shuffle” with a clock at the end, but no awards. I’m pretty sure the course had a “short cut” too, in case you wanted to finish a little early and hit the beer tent! 😉 Just a lot of people having fun – and raising money for charity!
Brilliant work and love your jumping and after-jumping shots!! Also glad to see others helping out at races – it’s fun isn’t it.
I ran in shorts on Sunday as we were away from home and it felt Very odd. We also passed someone later running in her bra and holding her top, so obviously had got a bit warm!
I like to think that I’m running so fast, no one even notices that I’m half naked in my sports bra! haha Oh well, comfort over fashion I always say.
good runs this week but how the heck didn’t it snow on the trails 10 min from where you live??? that’s some specific snowing!!!
I always think about volunteering more at races but I’m either too late or running the event (in that case I think “why am I not just volunteering here instead of the (half) marathon?”). Hopefully I can volunteer at Liverpool in May – I was supposed to run but can’t now due to surgery and recovery (and no running for 2 months boo).
We don’t really “do” St Patrick’s here – the odd Irish pub in every (bigger) town/city will have something going on but Dutch people are still like “who? what?” when it comes to St Patrick. Never know – we started to do Halloween here more in the last 10 years so I’ll give it another 10 before I’m seeing green everywhere in March 🙂
Yay on knee being only a little annoying/ Funny how little distance can change the precip so much. I didn’t celebrate St. Pats, but the NYC Half coincided with it so in a way I ran a St. Pats race

Good for you for volunteering at two races last week! And yes, green frosted Shamrock shaped cookies totally count as eating something in honor of St. Paddy’s Day!
