10 weeks of training for the Glass City Marathon are done! This week was a really solid week of training, racking up 50 miles of running. My daughter was home for Spring Break so it was really nice to have her around. We even took a trip to the zoo to enjoy the nice weather early in the week.

It looked like this snake was crawling right out of his space!! (nope, just super clean glass)

Lucky day!  I guessed the Wordle in 2 tries!!  That was pretty exciting since I didn’t pick any of the correct letters on my first guess.  Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket too!

Mon – 7 easy miles.  It’s come to the point in the training where I’m running almost the same amount as my first week of “long run” miles!  Luckily I didn’t have to set my alarm any earlier than it already was because I called in the assistance of my husband to make sure our son was up and ready for school.  Thanks Alan! 🙂

Tues – 9 miles, Tempo day!  Due to a switch up on my WFH day this week, I decided to do my 9 mile pace run this morning. It was a decent run and I got to enjoy the sunrise.  It was a bit more taxing on my body thought I guess because my recovery time said something like 52 hours.  Oops!

We went to see Uncharted.  Have you seen it yet?  I do love adventure movies, but I thought this one was only OK.  I liked Tom Holland as Spiderman better than this character! That said, l will go  see the sequel when it comes out 🙂 And remember the custom Vans I won? I gifted them to my daughter and her custom design arrived. How cool!

Weds – 5 easy miles, treadmill.  I got to watch the finale of Celebrity Big Brother.  That was a good season! I finally got around to making hot cocoa bombs. I borrowed the mold from the library many weeks ago. They did taste really good, but what a lot of work. A fun project with my daughter though.

Thurs – 18 miles, long run.  Mixed up schedule, so long run today.  This turned out to be a great decision because the weather was really nice and it felt easy!  Well, easy until mile 16 then it was a bit of a challenge, but my pace was consistent and I just ran by feel.  I was very happy with this run.

I went out for lunch with my daughter.  Good conversation and good food.  Couldn’t ask for more!

Fri – 4.25 miles, recovery run.  I wasn’t sure how this would turn out after the 18 miles yesterday, but everything was actually feeling good!  And, the snow was back.  What??  Later I went to the gym and did strength training.

Sat – 6 miles, intervals. It was the dreaded fartlek workout.  I wasn’t looking forward to this after a lot of running this week, but it actually turned out well.

Then we went to Akron, which was 2 hours in the car each way.  After a day of eating not so healthy choices, I felt a bit bloated and I saw I only needed .6 of a mile run to get to 50 miles for the week.  So yep, I for sure got out in the dark cold and ran!

Sun – Rest day!  Actually, it was “project day”!  I have been working like crazy on a photobook from our 2019 trip to Hawaii.  So far I’ve worked on it each night for a few hours, and today I worked on it from 9am to 4pm! I have a coupon code from Shutterfly which expires today.  It took the price of the book down from the original price of $266, and the current sale price of $166 to only $39.99 with my coupon code!!!  Yes, that price was a huge incentive to get it done.  It’s a 12 x 12 inch photobook with 87 pages.  Each page probably averages out to 1 hour of work after you factor in all of the steps to pick pictures, do the layout, edit the pages and upload everything.  Heck, I’ve probably worked on this book for 100 hours!  But it’s finally done.  Here’s one page as a sample.

Q: Do you make photo albums from trips? Digital or printed photos?

Q: Have you ever had a hot cocoa bomb?

I actually had never had one! But when I saw they had the mold at the library to loan out I really wanted to make them!

    1. The hot chocolate bombs were really good, but pretty labor intensive. I’m surprised they turned out as good as they did! I figured the chocolate was going to break before we finished them.

  1. I haven’t made a photo album of any kind for years. Your photobook looks amazing and I can see why you wanted to take advantage of that discount!
Great week of running, and I’m glad your long run went well. My son was also home this week but went back to school today (sigh!). It’s nice having them home, right? Oh and that’s funny about the wordle- so random! You’re a wordle psychic!

  2. Great training week for you!

My brother makes photo books of his trips all the time. We don’t. I mean, we already have enough clutter! Still it’s fun to look back at those memories, right?

Never had a cocoa bomb but it definitely sounds intriguing to me. 🙂

    1. I have been making smaller books for the kids as Christmas presents of our trips each year. I think it will be a good keepsake for them. I agree with the clutter idea – that’s why I haven’t taken up many hobbies that produce things. Crafting and arts are a lot of fun, but what am I going to do with all the stuff??
