Overall it’s been a good week. Things are moving along with my adductor injury recovery and I was able to run 25 miles this week. I also biked 100 miles and completed another week of the my Quick Strength Training for Runners book. Things appear to be going in the right direction! The Berlin Marathon is only 9 weeks away now and I was able to successfully run a double digit run (Woot!!!). It was also a busy week with fun trips to Cedar Point and hanging out with the family.
Mon – 6 mile run. I saw a pretty sunrise on this run. Nice way to start the week!

At night we took a trip to Cedar Point. The park was a little busier than we expected, but still a fun night. They have a new game – a human claw crane! Pretty funny.

Tues – 30 miles biking. Ladies Night ride, plus bonus miles commuting to and from the group ride. It was a good ride because we split into 3 groups, so we were able to ride a little faster.

Weds – 4 mile run. Cedar Point day again! This time it was a full day with our daughter.

Thurs – 4 mile run. Was feeling good despite a lot of miles yesterday with my run and walking around. This was encouraging. The sun looked weird from the wildfires in Canada.

I went on a 2.5 mile park walk with my Mom and a snake crossed our path. Cute, yes? We went to a farmer’s market at night.

Fri – 31 miles biking. I had to get up early to take my mom to an appointment (all is well!) so luckily it was a rest day from running. I did manage to get my cycling miles completed in the afternoon though!

Sat – 11 miles, long run! Yes, I ran 11 miles!! This was a good run. Not completely pain free but much improved. My pace was consistent. The trail was busy and I saw friends. I even got to run with a stranger for a bit and we had a lot in common. After my run I stretched and redeemed my rewards for a free Starbucks. Now this is the part of running that I have missed!

22 miles of biking. Getting close to my weekly goal. In the afternoon it was another volunteer gig. I helped out at the Sylvania Triathlon and Duathlon packet pickup. This was a lot of fun because I have done both the Olympic and Sprint Triathlon distances at this race, so I was able to pass along helpful info to others (especially the first timers!)

Sun – 17 miles biking. One final ride for the week to get to my goal of 100 miles of cycling for week. This is the 8th of 9 weeks this summer that I have at least 100 miles for the week. I’m feeling very accomplished! It was also a “sleep in” day finally and I slept until 9:30! (much needed!) Then my husband made a “Hawaiian McDonald’s” breakfast for us along with a white chocolate macadamia nut iced coffee. Ah, it brings back some great memories!

Q: Have you been watching the Olympics??
A: We haven’t made it through the opening ceremonies completely yet, but so far they are… interesting. It does get me very excited to see all of the Paris landmarks in person in October!!
Yay, I am so happy to hear your adductor issues are improving. It’s great that you were able to do a double-digit run. I am cautiously optimistic for you! Well, and then all the bike miles of course should count for something. Beautiful sunrise btw!
I think my cycling 100 mile weeks will be ending this week. Too many other events going on and the weather isn’t cooperating!
Yay, I’m so happy about your recovery progress! Way to go!
Biking 100 miles each week is a good goal. And it looks like you have some nice places to ride too.
I was so bored with (indoor) cycling earlier this year but now I kind of miss it! I think I’ll go back to it in October after our holidays. I loved to challenge myself with speeds and sprints!
Indoor cycling has never interested me. I’d rather do my elliptical or walk on the treadmill! Some competition would liven the cycling workout so I can see how that would be interesting. I am starting to get a little bored with my routes. They are all East and West, nothing North or South! I wish I had an easy way to get to the trails in those areas.
Snake? Not cute.
I love redeeming my stars.
Great news on the injury. Hope it continues to improve.
Teehee, not a snake fan? I did see a cute little one on the path while doing my long run, but it turns out he was dead, probably run over by a cyclist. Sad!
Yay, so glad you managed double digits! I hope the next 9 weeks goes well!
The 12 week plan does have some aggressive jumps in the long run mileage so I’ll have to play those by ear. Double digits is a huge milestone!
Hooray for 11 miles!!! Glad to see it. And nope, never to the snake. There have been rattlesnake sightings on one of the trails I run in Wisconsin. That would probably do me in!
We watched the opening ceremonies and well…I thought it was really weird. It didn’t really celebrate the athletes. Just not my thing, I guess. I am enjoying the athletic events, though!
I don’t think we have any venomous snakes in my area. We used to have a snake who lived by our pool equipment. My kids would pick him up! 😆
Yes, some odd things in the opening ceremonies. Makes you wonder who did the final approval on that stuff.
Yeah for double digits! Nice to see you back at it and happy! My kids have both been to Cedar Point with their camp but I have not. I’m so into the Olympics so far. I watched a few of the gymnastics things My sister is actually going next week
That’s very exciting your sister will be attending the Olympics! The 2034 Olympics will be heading back to Park City UT. That would be a fun one to visit!
That’s great news on the running! And your biking is quite impressive as well. I also had 100 miles last week, but I think that may have been my first “century week” of 2024. I wish I had time to get out for a long ride in the mornings, but I have to be on the road (and showered and dressed) by 7:00…so it’s not really doable (unless I jump on the spin bike & that’s not happening in the summer, LOL).
As the summer days are getting shorter I am also lacking the time to go on those longer pre-work rides. And, well, now I’m getting busy with running!
It’s great to hear that your injury healing process is going well and that you’re getting in some runs good training runs. It’s hard to believe that fall marathons are only a couple of months away.
Your ladies night rides sound fun. I love that you break it into three groups. Our ladies night rides are very fast and intense and you have to practice pace-lining, etc. so I’ve never joined them.
I wish our Ladies Ride was a faster ride, but it’s just “social paced” to encourage everyone to come out. I know there are at least a dozen of us that would be happy riding fast! Since we split into 3 groups we were able to go out a little faster. Big groups are just too hard to manage and keep together!
You are doing amazing! I’m so happy that things are getting easier!
A wonderful week for you. Cedar Point looks fun – we’ve never been, but I always hear such great things. It’s too hot to theme park right now. Heck, it’s too hot to go in the pool!
I am watching some of the Olympics. I prefer the gymnastics and diving, while my husband likes the basketball and football/soccer.
Diving is a good one to watch – but what about break dancing? That should be very interesting! And of course we are waiting for the speed climbing. Skateboarding wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be.
