Since I now have a 5K on my training plan instead of a half marathon I’ve been trying to figure out what distance makes sense for my daily runs. I’ll need to figure out what my next race will be beyond the 5K because I enjoy having a plan! There was a roller coaster of temperatures this week – 34 to 78. Good thing I didn’t put my tank tops away yet.
Mon – 3.7 miles running. It was really cold this morning. 35 degrees and it required me to bust out my long tights, jacket, gloves and ear band. Brrr! I think this has been the coldest day lately. But again, my neighborhood was asleep and the moon and stars were shining. A peaceful run.
2.2 mile walk – Lunch walk with Mom. I remembered to take a picture this time, although she protested because she needs a haircut. 🙂

2 mile walk with my She Runs This Town group! Thankfully someone reminded us that this event was happening because I forgot to put it on my calendar. We all dressed as black cats. I had to make my cat ears out of paper since I couldn’t find my daughters! I chose to walk instead of run. Dinner and drinks afterwards is always fun.

Tues – 3 miles running. I had done an update on my phone overnight and thought it was broken this morning when it showed 64 degrees for the temperature. What the what???? 64 degrees? Ok, I gotta get out the door to enjoy that. 3 miles done for the day. I am really enjoying the Halloween decorations around our neighborhood. And, it was my annual once a year day that I have a reason to wear my reflective shorts.

7.5 miles mountain biking. Yep, 78 degrees again after work (just like last week)! We hit the park trails for a wonderful ride through the crunchy leaves. Fun fact, dry leaves on wooden features are slippery. Ask me how I know LOL. This was the first time I’ve fallen on my mountain bike in a long time but no injuries were sustained. Phew!

It was so nice out we spent the evening on the patio drinking wine and watching Gilmore Girls. Ahhh, this was wonderful!

Weds – Rest day! See above. haha. Pumpkin carving was the only sport today.

Thurs – Happy Halloween!! 6.2 miles running. Without a half marathon on my training plan I had to run long enough to reward myself with a fancy iced coffee. A 10K seemed like a good number. It was 70 degrees out which felt quite warm. My post run treat was the Reese’s Iced Capp from Tim Horton. Delish!!!

With the good weather for Halloween we got a lot of kids trick or treating. I counted 144 but I know I missed several kids when they arrived in groups. We ran out of candy at 7:45 which was luckily the time it slowed down.

30 min treadmill walk, 12% incline. I’m going to try to incorporate more of these hill walks into my week. My husband does them and said they have helped him. And, I get to watch TV 🙂
Fri – 4 miles running. Guess what? It’s cold again. 46 degrees and wearing tights again. I was shocked to only find one piece of candy around the neighborhood after trick or treating last night!

Camping time! This is the 2nd trip with our new camper. The first trip helped us figure out additional things what we needed in our camper. We made a few dozen purchases to Amazon to get what we needed (yay free returns!) and now our camper is perfect. I even had a DIY project to put a backsplash in (no grout needed!). It’s been fun personalizing our new space.

Sam has been camping, so now it was time for Luna to try camping. She did even better than Sam did! Hopefully next year they will be friends (they are not yet!) so they can both join us.

Sat – 4 miles running at the campground! There was frost on the ground this morning. Brrrr. The route was quite hilly so I worked up a sweat. We also took long walks on the trails with crunchy leaves.

Sun – 3 mile hike. It was a bit warmer so we enjoyed our extra hour (thank you daylight savings!) with another trail hike before we packed up the camper and headed home.

Q: Have you seen any Christmas lights up in your neighborhood?
A: Our nextdoor neighbor just had lights installed at their house on Friday and they were turned on when we got home today. Ughhhhhhhh. Too soon.
I love how you got your black cat to pose with the Jack o lanterns! Sounds like a lovely, chilly and festive week. I was doing treadmill walks at 12% incline for a while and really enjoyed them- thanks for reminding me! I should get back to that.
Treadmill walking will be a good way for me to clean up our DVR! Hopefully it will also be a good workout for my legs.
I’ve noticed several houses with Christmas lights on already. I LOVE Christmas, but it’s too soon for lights (IMO). Then again, there were Halloween decs up, everywhere, in September as well. I haven’t had any crunchy leaf runs or walks yet. I’m looking forward to a few of those, maybe this next weekend (though it may be a bit too muddy from all the forecasted rain).
Ok, I guess I can’t complain anymore – my neighbor turned the lights off. He just got them installed so maybe he was just testing them out for a few days.
Tell your mom I love the picture of you and her – due for a haircut or not! Love that you got to go walking together.
Also, going from a half to a 5k is an adjustment. Are you going to try and go for speed? Love the cute Halloween-themed running group 🙂
I was hoping for a slightly speedy 5K, but man, I am having an off week!! So, just getting to the end will be the goal now.
It sounds like you had a fantastic camping weekend and I love that Sam did so well. I do hope he and Luna become friends eventually.
One of our neighbors already has lights up on their house, but they strung orange lights on some bushes in their front yard for Halloween. I haven’t been by in the dark since Halloween, so I don’t know if they’ve switched them over to red and green yet.
I really do hope the kitties will be buddies soon. It’s stressful listening to them hiss and fight! Our camper is not big enough for that kind of craziness.
