My week of base building for Glass City Marathon in April has been going along well. I did run 24.76 miles this week (see, I don’t even care about getting even numbers on my run. It’s all chill!) I still have a stiff muscle in my back occasionally, but it’s not stopping me. I’ve been trying to keep up with my PT exercises, but also have been a bit busy with life this week.

I have also spent some time this week stressing about my WordPress hosting. My current hosting provider (HostPapa) has been a major pain in the ass about my resource usage. I’ve never had an issue until this company. I will probably need to move my site because no one needs to be stressed about crap like that!! I still have 2 years of paid hosting, but I’m willing to lose it. I think it’s a major shakedown to get me to upgrade. Ok, enough ranting for this week. But in case you visit my site and it’s down, that’s what’s happening. Either I’m in the process of moving or my account got suspended again!! 😩

Mon – 3.5 mile run, treadmill.  Here’s an exciting treadmill picture for you!

We went out for a taco night to celebrate some changes that are happening in 2025.  It’s not all official yet, but the wheels are in motion.

I got out for another lunch park walk with my mom.  Maybe this will be the last one of the year.  We were quite bundled up and there were very few people on the trail.  It’s also a challenge to pick an outfit which will be office appropriate and also warm enough for a park walk!

Tues – 4 mile run.  Snowy run??  Yes please!  My neighborhood was a winter wonderland.  The roads were  a little slippery which showed in my pace and heart rate, but it was an enjoyable run!

Weds – 30 mins elliptical.  I hadn’t planned on working out this morning but I was up early.  I had an early morning nightmare that someone was going to steal my road bike!  LOL! I woke up in a sweat, stressed about my bike.  Maybe that is separation anxiety 😉  I was a bit bummed when I learned that the show I am watching was the final show.  Boo! Lots of relaxation time tonight watching a holiday show.

Thurs – 3.5 miles.  Holy smokes, 21 mph winds?? That wind froze my face. Luckily it was a westerly wind so all directions other than going west felt ok.  Brrrrr

I have decided to mark some days on my calendar as “project days”.  Today’s project was to clean up the pantry.  A bit ago (much longer than I care to admit!) a can of mandarin oranges exploded in my panty.  We had wiped it all up, but of course it splashed on the flat paint of the walls and made a mess. But you know, with kids and things to do we never got around to repainting it. Finally, today is the day!  I honestly thought that this project was going to last a few hours.  Oh no.  To my surprise the stains just kept bleeding through the paint!!  So, three coats of regular paint, two coat of Kilz and another coat of paint were in order.  Ugh.  I spent most of the day painting the walls and the trim. (warning: disturbing picture of a dirty wall and yellowed trim shown here. 😬 LOL!)

Fri – 4 miles.  A little less chilly feeling today since the wind had dropped down.  Gotta get the body moving because today is road trip day!  Dayton is our destination (about 2.5 hours away).

We went to the Dayton Air Force Museum and to see the light show at Clifton Mill.

Clifton Mill was so pretty!!  The white lights sparkled like a stream.  I may have shrieked a little in joy when I saw Santa up on top the rooftop!  He came out of the chimney.  Those reindeer were really cute with their wagging tails.

Sat – 9 mile long run.  Once again I stuck to my plan of purposely slowing down and guess what?  The miles were easy.  The last mile was my hopeful race pace for Glass City.   All went well. I tried to get up to see the sunrise, but with our late night I only got to see it peek over my fence.

We went to the gym, and ran some errands, then it was back into the kitchen to put my pantry back together.  It was quite the drawn out affair, but the end result was worth it!

Sun – Rest day!  Holiday party day!  Dave’s Running has a party for the “team” – coaches, Run Toledo Ambassadors, and employees.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Need some more inspiration? I’m linking up with Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Kim from Running on the Fly for their Weekly Run Down. Check out all of the fun blogs there!

Q: Do you have any large holiday lights in your town?

The Toledo Zoo has an amazing lights display. We will be going there soon!

  1. LOOK AT ALL THOSE LIGHTS!
So I live in St. Augustine, home to one of the most famous holiday lights displays in the world. However, I love getting out to see the lights in other locations. Our zoo has some, as does our arboretum in Jacksonville. We also have a lifeguard stand lights display at Jax Beach, as well as some other places. Some of the tickets get pretty pricey so we have to pick and choose.

No winter wonderland for us, but it is freezing. Literally.

  2. I’m very proud of you for not running a quarter mile farther so you’d have a nice even number for the week. Many of us runners can’t do that. 😉

Ugh on the blog issues. I’m considering moving from WordPress because they seem so outrageously expensive, but I’m terrified to make the move.

Oh wow, that light show at Clifton Mill is beautiful! There are several different gardens and parks that have light displays for both driving and walking through, but we’re so bad about making the time to do stuff like that.

And yes, Kilz is a miracle worker. Enjoy checking those projects off your list!

Excited to learn what exciting news you’ll have to share about 2025!

    1. I just found a techie site which had some unbelievable prices for hosting. I’ll let you know how that turns out! 😁 I have always signed up for the cheap starter packages for hosting and then switched to a different host provider when the big renewal rate happened. It’s a bit of a pain to move the site, but it just seems like a lot of money for a hobby. But heck, it’s cheaper than my gym membership, so there’s that.

  3. Beautiful Christmas lights at Clifton Mill! I’m impressed with your pantry project. Our house needs so much work that it’s overwhelming. I don’t know where to start. My sister is coming over this week to help me with the bathrooms. Seems like a good place to start.

Hmmm something tells me you’re going to move. So many of our neighborhood friends have traded their homes here for something different now that they are empty nesters!

    1. Oh gosh, no! Not moving!! Our house is in need of small upkeep projects and I’ve been putting them off too long. Now that the weather is cold I can get some projects done because I would never take the time to do it during the summer! Bathrooms do seem like a good place to start. Good luck!

    1. We’ve been in this house for 20 years and it’s that age when things need to be repaired and replaced. Painting is pretty easy but boy, the devil is in the detail!

  4. That pantry painting project really sounds frustracting! I’m glad the Kilz did trick. Those holiday lights are beautiful…there are a lot of well-done (and well-lit) houses in my neighborhood. They make the cold and dark early morning/after work runs very enjoyable. I need to head to “the city” to check-out some more elaborate displays.

    1. The morning light displays are pretty nice around here. Wish everyone left their lights on all night! I really should have started with Kilz first on my project. I never expected such a light stain to be such a problem! I’m so glad it’s all done and my kitchen is clean again.

  5. I’m so sorry about the blog issues! I’m battling something very similar with resources peaking with no real reason, but in my case the hosting provider isn’t complaining, I just see it in cpanel and get annoyed over it. I get it if you want to move! With today’s WordPress tools it’s quick and easy.

Good work with your running – even in the snow 😵
    That light show is amazing!
Exciting about your upcoming change… whatever it is about.

    1. I don’t know if my website has been exceeding resources all year and they just started telling me about it, or something has changed. And now I’ve made so many changes to the site (plug ins, etc) I’m not sure if I’m helping things or making it worse. I’m just so over it all since I can’t pinpoint what the problem is.

  6. Those lights look fabulous!! We have a lighting display not too car from me at a GE plant/facility but have only visited it once. I love the lights and festive decor. Good luck with the wintry running!

  7. Nice job of getting those cold, snowy miles in! About the pantry- kudos to you. i’m being completely honest when I say that if that happened to me, we would have lived with stained walls for the rest of our lives. Or, at least until we sold the house and then tried to clean it up in a panic. So I would say you had a very successful week overall!

    1. I’m not sure what grossed me out more after I emptied out the pantry – the stains on the wall or the super yellowed trim! It was a lot of work for a room which you wouldn’t really see the walls much at all, but I’m glad I finally got it done.
