This week started out super stressful but ended well. I got completely fed up with my hosting provider (HostPapa) and decided it was time to jump ship. The process to migrate a WordPress site really isn’t that difficult, but it is a bit technical. There are tools to make it easy, but those don’t work well for larger sites. I decided to manually move it (copying files and database) but failed twice (ugghh!!) before I finally got it right. Once I finally found a really great video on how to do it I had it moved in under 20 mins! What a relief! I spent days and days stressing about it before I got it right. My new hosting provider is super cheap, which might seem like a red flag, but from the research I’ve done it seems legit. I’m not worried if it isn’t adequate because I could just move it again – now I’m a pro on WordPress migration and could do it in my sleep!! If you are considering moving your WordPress site, follow this video. It’s a lifesaver! I still have a few things to figure out, but otherwise I’d say this blog is 90% back up and running.
A quick rundown of my workouts… I ran 26 miles this week. My base training for Glass City Marathon in April is going pretty good. I have had an ongoing questionable feeling in my lower back and I decided to stop using the Float Run harness to see if that is causing an issue. To be determined! The feeling is not always there so I’m not really sure what is going on.
Mon – 4 mile run. Too cold and dark outside for me. Treadmill time! My afternoon walk with my mom at the park included a trip to the Manor House which is at the park. It is decorated for Christmas. My aunt joined us.
Tues – 4 mile run. Today’s accomplishment was making treats to pass out to my coworkers. Caramel cinnamon chex mix. Delish!
Weds – 4.3 mile run – Christmas Lights run! This was the 10th anniversary of this friend’s run. I know we’ve gone several times, but not sure how many. I’m always the slowest runner of the group and this year I held my own and kept up with everyone. Yay! Pizza and beer afterwards is always a highlight of this event.
Thurs – Rest day. We drove to Columbus and back today to pick up our son from Ohio State, with quite a few stops at the EV charging stations! Cold weather really kills the range of my car, especially when it’s under 20 degrees. We watched Red One today. Can’t say I’d recommend it! A weird mix of a Christmas theme and PG-13 language.
Fri – 4 miles running. The treadmill deck is replaced and feeling all new again!
Rock climbing! It’s been quite awhile since I’ve climbed. I missed it! We practically had the gym to ourselves. It was nice.
Sat – 10 mile long run. It was a busy, busy day for me so of course I spent more time than necessary running! haha It was decent out so 10 miles worked out well. I did have a frozen face when I got home but otherwise the festive outfit was perfect. This was my “fancy pants” run for a challenge in the Joy To The Run program.
The rest of the afternoon was spent cooking some chili, grocery shopping, Christmas shopping and eventually picking up my Mom to join us at the Nutcracker. This performance was put on by a different ballet company than we usually see. There were some interesting differences between the two! My mom had never seen the Nutcracker. When asked how she liked it, she replied “well, I don’t think I’ll see it again.” Gotta love my Mom! She tells it like it is.
Sun – Rest day! We started our day with another trip to the Manor House (this time with the whole family!). Another year of very pretty displays.
Another afternoon on climbing with my son. His girlfriend joined us. She climbs a lot with him on campus.
It’s so nice to have both kids home. It’s been a really good week!
Need some more inspiration? I’m linking up with Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Kim from Running on the Fly for their Weekly Run Down. Check out all of the fun blogs there!
Q: Did anyone see Red One? Do you recommend any other new holiday movies?
We saw it on Paramount Plus but it’s also showing in our theaters right now.
Q: Have you seen the Nutcracker, or are a fan of any other ballets?
Oh wow, well done on migrating your blog to a different host. There’s no way I’d be able to do it myself, but perhaps with the help of that video and my hubby we could do. I would be a nervous wreck during the process, though.
Enjoy your time with your kiddos while they’re home for the holidays!

I was completely stressed when my blog failed to load properly the first two times I tried the migration, but after following along with that video it seemed easy peasy!! And I learned all about the structure of a WP site, so it was a good experience in the end. Hopefully it will be a long, long time until I need to do that again!

I know you enjoy your time with your kids home as much as I do! Rock climbing is fun! Love all the holiday cheer. have a fab week ahead
Rock climbing was a nice stress relief as well as some great bonding time with Zach.
I saw the Nutcracker 31 winters ago, and I was pregnant & fell asleep through the performance! That’s how tired I was, LOL. Seeing your festive running outfit made me realize I haven’t worn any of my holiday running gear yet! I’m gonna have to change that tonight 😉 Enjoy your time with both kids home!
The ballet music was pretty peaceful, so I guess it could lull you to sleep LOL! I just wish we could have seen the orchestra playing at the Nutcracker too, but they were in the pit and hidden. They sounded great!
Congrats on the blog migration! It sounds annoying and tedious. Yay for having the kids home and getting in some activity with them. I have never been really rock climbing before but there’s a gym near me everyone loves that I need to check out!
I watched The Holiday and Biltmore Christmas this year – both are cheesy romances and I’m a fan!
Oooooh – thanks for the tip on the Biltmore movie! I have added it to my list!
Gotta get that run in no matter how busy you are, am I right? Priorities…
I haven’t seen Red One and I don’t think I will! I love all the old traditional Christmas movies, like Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, A Christmas Story–that kind of movie. I do love the Nutcracker-I’ve seen it many times, including the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. So funny that your mom didn’t like it.
Home Alone one of my favorite xmas movies! Wow, that would be a great performance to see the Joffrey Ballet.

What a fun week! And both kids are home, hooray! My son’s schedule is late this year and he doesn’t get home until the 22nd.
I’m impressed with your blog migration!!! I can’t even figure out how to fix the sidebar on mine (although- I probably could if I tried a little harder!) Anyway, everything looks great. Nice job! And, nice job getting the runs in amidst the craziness. And… one last thing… caramel cinnamon Chex mix??? That sounds insanely good!
I don’t have any idea about the layouts for WordPress unfortunately. My solution to fixing the sidebar would probably be to pick a different theme and see if that fixes it! I might switch to a different theme. Heck, maybe the theme was the issue all along for my blog. Who knows! I’m just saying “good riddance!d” to my old hosting company.
The 22nd seems late, but he probably will be home longer in January? Zach starts classes on Jan 6th, which is far too short for a winter break in my opinion!
How great to have your son home! Both of my kids arrive tonight, which means two trips to ORD but who’s counting? A Christmas Lights run sounds so festive and fun. Migrating a website, not so much! Haha!
There were some pretty stressful nights trying to figure out that blog migration! It really is pretty simple though.
Hope you are enjoying your family time!!
Well done on the migration! I keep meaning to move mine (I have two, one not very active any more but useful for gaining clients) but I fear it, even though techy husband could probably support me.
And I’ve seen the Nutcracker multiple times as a child for Christmas treats but never as an adult …
