Wow, it’s been a busy week of travel! We barely got to sit down at home and unpack, and then we jetted off to Switzerland 🇨🇭 So here we are, I think it’s Sunday. Jet lag sucks but hopefully we’ll be back on track Monday. Here’s what went down in my world last week…

Mon – A final skiing day at Stowe Mountain.  As expected from an Eastern resort, we had lots of packed snow and some ice!  We are no strangers to those conditions though so we did just fine.  The temps were a bit brutal though.  It was -10 when we woke up, and no, that’s not the “feels like” temp!  But a hot chocolate break on the slopes kept us going.

We actually skied until the chairs were closed.  We took a wrong turn and ended up at the wrong part of the ski slope.  Not a problem because the local bus has a stop there.  Unfortunately, we had to run up a hill, on the road, carrying our skis to get to the bus stop.  I started waving at the bus driver because the bus was stopped and letting people off, but after picking up the people at the stop, he took off.  We were only 10 seconds from arriving at the bus stop.  WTF??!!  The next bus arrived 30 mins later.  Whomp whomp.

Tues – 14 hours in the truck driving home from Vermont 🙂 We had a fun trip overall but I think I’ll pass on Stowe again due to the drive time!

Weds – 3 miles treadmill run.  In an effort to reduce jetlag I’m following suggestions of Garmin.  I was supposed to go to bed earlier tonight, but actually I was so busy with other family things that I went to bed later than usual.  Fail!

Also, I was not selected for the NYC Marathon, nor was anyone I know.  With the odds (240,000 applied and 1% got in) it’s not a surprise.  Crazy!

Thurs – 3 miles treadmill run.  Due to my later than expected bed time last night, I accidentally incorrectly calculated how much time I needed in the morning to get ready before work.  I set my alarm for 6:30 instead of 6am.  I thought I had plenty of time to run and then realized I barely had any time at all!  No worries, I just committed to being super efficient getting ready and somehow I made it to work on time.  Well, I did notice that I forgot my glasses and earrings, but hey, I’m still calling it a win!  LOL  I got progressive glasses last year which are great for driving (sharpens my distance vision and I can actually read the car screens!) but I don’t like the look of them so you probably won’t see many pictures of my wearing them!

Fri – 4 miles treadmill. We have an evening flight to Europe which makes the journey to the airport so easy. First, we dropped off the cats at their “vacation home” (daughter’s boyfriend’s house) and by mid day we were on our way. How did my jet lag preparation go? Not great. I barely slept a wink 😣 ughhhh

Sat – connected in Amsterdam and arrived in Geneva at 8am. It’s spring in Geneva! Flowers, runners and cyclists everywhere. We rented a car and drove out to Nendaz, our ski town. It is crazy here – tiny roads that wind around the mountains. I’m surprised we didn’t get in a wreck!

We went through an area where the Tour de France will be held in August.

Our chalet is modest with a kick ass location next to the gondola and a beautiful view. We napped for a solid 2 hours when we got there. Sooooo tired.

Next week will be full of skiing and adventuring. The weather looks great (sunny skies). I can’t wait!

Au revoir for now! (We are in the French speaking part of Switzerland!)

  1. My head is spinning just reading about your week! Girl, do you ever rest? Your view in Switzerland looks amazing, and I can’t wait to read all about your ski adventures. Have so much fun!

  2. It sounds exhausting but worth it! Your slopeside location looks wonderful! I’m sure you will have an amazing time!

I can’t believe it was -10 at Stowe last week. It was not that cold in Okemo, thank goodness. The worst we had was a “feels like” of +1 that warmed up pretty quickly.

    1. Those below zero temps are challenging, but I do enjoy warming up with hot chocolate. I wore flannel PJ pants in addition to my leggings under my ski pants that day! The extra layer was perfect. The day after we left the temps were in the 40s at Stowe. Go figure 🙄

  3. I agree with the others. I’m exhausted reading about your travel adventures.

But do it while you can!

    Amusez-vous bien en Suisse.

You said you were in the French part. LOL!

  4. WOW what a fun and busy week! ! But it looks so cold. I’m glad to be feeling spring here in Ohio, at least for a week before it gets cold again (we’re due for snow soon I believe of course!). Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip – it looks amazing!!

  5. I agree with everyone else! It sounds exhausting! But, I hope you’ll enjoy your time in Switzerland and that you get some good skiing done. And enjoy the spring!

    1. It’s been an interesting trip so far. Getting some good sleep last night definitely improved the day. Everything is hard when you are sleep deprived! Looking forward to hitting the slopes tomorrow.

  6. I can see why you’re exhausted!!! The photos from Geneva look SO beautiful, and I can’t wait to hear all about this adventure. I love that your cats have a “vacation home.” Have a great time and I’m waiting impatiently to hear all the stories and see LOTS OF PICTURES!

  7. I’m exhausted just reading about your week with that fast turnaround from Vermont to home and on to Switzerland. Enjoy the slopes! I can’t wait to read all about your skiing adventures.

  8. Oh, I love this! Stowe sounded like a lot (even though it did look fun), but Switzerland is going to be epic! I can’t wait for more details!
