It’s been a busy week – a week with my face stuck in my computer working on projects! More about that later but the big project is completed and hopefully I’ll have more time to not be looking at my laptop all day (but what about the 1,442 unread emails I have?? no joke). Oh well, I’ll get caught up eventually. I did check all of the boxes this week: workouts ✅ taxes ✅ being social ✅. I biked 7 miles, ran 29 miles, walked 5 miles and actually made it to the gym twice. Here’s what went down this week…

Mon – 4 mile treadmill run.  Early morning run, I stayed indoors because it looked too cold outside.  It’s so nice to have options for my morning runs!  A gym visit followed and they had the saddest sign at Planet Fitness.  Oh noooooooo!  I love the hydromassage beds! Thankfully they were fixed within a few days.

Tues – 4 mile treadmill run.  For dinner we had the most delicious sourdough bread grilled cheese sandwiches.  My husband is a master of sourdough!

Weds – 2.25 miles, park walk with Mom at lunch time.  Then, 2.75 miles running – After work I decided to be social by meeting up with some coworkers who are on our relay teams for the Glass City Marathon.  This started out as a big fail because when I arrived at the park I couldn’t find anyone, and I didn’t have anyone’s phone numbers.  Uggghhhh.  But thankfully I ran into someone after I walked for a bit.  I jogged with my coworker for the rest of the time.

Thurs – 6 miles running.  Gym visit.  Biking.  A great day!!  The goal of my morning run was “pace miles in the middle”… but phew, “pace miles” are a bit of stretch at this point.  I did get my goal pace (8:45) but I had to stop and take a break after each one.  Hey, that’s still a win!  I was pleased with my efforts.  A gym visit followed.

7 miles mountain biking.  The weather was great for some miles on the trails.  Due to an afternoon appointment we got a late start.  By the time we got done biking it was 4:30pm.  We got home at 4:45… and then we both had to shower and get all dressed up for an annual meeting for my work… by 5pm!  Yes, only 15 mins to shower and get ready. Huge kudos to us as we actually did make it on time and looked pretty good.  And the food and drinks were delish.

Fri – 4 easy miles.  Yay for catching a beautiful sunrise!  I needed the positive energy to power me through a challenging tax issue.  Somehow Michigan thinks my Mom owes money yet our software said there’s a small refund.  I feel like they are for sure going to find some user error involved but for the life of me I can’t see where it is!! Letter was written and now waiting for a response (fingers crossed!).

I also went to the gym and an afternoon walk with a neighbor netted me 2.5 miles.  We watched Artemis II splash down as they returned from their mission. Woohoo!

Sat – 8 miles, long run!  It’s me being social yet again 🙂 I met up with a friend for this run and the miles flew by.  We have different definitions of “cold”.  I wore a long sleeve shirt and she was sweating in a tank top LOL  The temp was 45 but “feels like 39”.  That’s a tough one to figure out!

The rest of the afternoon was spent finishing up a project which has kept me busy for HOURS recently.  I created a photobook of our holiday season from 2025.  The book ended up with 93 pages!!  There was a really good “free pages” sale going on so I had a deadline.  I’m so glad it’s done.  I think I’m blind from staring at my computer for so long! I did save $153 with that coupon, so it was worth it.

Sun – mountain biking is on tap for today. It should be a nice warm afternoon. Post ride we are going to check out the new brewery at the bike trail. Yay!

Need some more inspiration? I’m linking up with Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Kim from Running on the Fly for their Weekly Run Down. Check out all of the fun blogs there!

Q: Did you watch Artemis II land on Friday?

The whole thing was quite an impressive feat!

  1. Social activity is my favorite type of activity! Looks like you go a lot of it this week. I’ve been slacking on the photo album thing. It does take a lot of time to put together. I’m sure you will be glad you did it. Yes we did watch the shuttle splash down-amazing indeed. Have a great week ahead

    1. Sometimes I just need to get out of my bubble and interact with others 🙂 It is always so nice to catch up with my friends, but I do enjoy the alone time when running to listen to audiobooks, so both are nice!

  2. You had a well-balanced week and I love that you added social activities to the list, Lisa! Good job on completing your Christmas photo book – I still haven’t made our youngest son and daughter-in-law’s wedding book! Oops!

    1. I felt very accomplished when I finished that photobook. However, it also left me very burned out and I’m no longer excited about making another one!! Hopefully taking a break will help. I still need to make a book of our trip to the Berlin marathon and Europe, and then one for our recent trip to Switzerland!

  3. I love photo books. I do make them for big trips (and big races) but I haven’t made one lately.

This weather is strange .. for my race yesterday, there were runners wearing jackets and other in bras.

    The splash down was amazing.

    1. I know it’s math and science, but we were so impressed how they knew when and where the splash down was going to be! It was a pretty cool mission, but one I’d never want to do.

  4. Every time I read one of your posts, I feel kind of lazy, lol. I mean I felt like I had a pretty full week, but I did not meet up with friends, go mountain biking, get all dressed up for a work event, create a photo book… SHEESH! You have a lot of energy. Oh, I did watch the shuttle splash down, but that was courtesy of my husband- he turned it on and I happened to be sitting there. Otherwise I would have had no idea it was happening.
Sounds like your running is going well. I assume the knee issue is resolved?
    Now I’m craving sourdough…

    1. To be fair, we did have the splash down marked on our calendar, so that’s why we watched it!
My knee issue is finally resolved! This week my back feels OK too. I think all of the activity agrees with my body. I HATED spending so much time in one place working on my computer. But I had a strict deadline and I was committed. Otherwise, nope, you will never see me working on my computer for so long!

  5. As much as I’m an astronomy geek, I totally missed the live coverage of blastoff & their return. I did catch several videos & pics on social media. Quite an amazing endeavor! You had an action-packed week, I need to do some albums. I have numerous scrapbooks (from when they were trending), but that’s where it ended…

    1. I used to create the “December Daily” books with just one page for each day of December for our family, and then it crept into November (Thanksgiving), and into January (family ski trip)… and next thing you know it’s 93 pages instead of 31 days of December! But with the “unlimited free pages” sale I figured why not use all the pictures I can. It is a labor of love for sure!

  6. We didn’t watch Artemis land, but it was fun to see the updates on the news! I was so absorbed with my family drama that I feel as if I’ve been on a different planet the past couple of weeks. I hope things settle down for a while!

Your photo project makes me feel like a slacker!!!

    1. Well, I know people sit down and spend hours reading books (which I don’t do), so spending hours MAKING books is kind of similar, right? It’s just a different use of time 🙂 But maybe you are now inspired to create one!

  7. Oh what a week! Beautiful sunrises and I love that you were able to meet up with your group!

Photo books stress me out. They always end up so freaking long and I abandon them. Ugh.

I watched the Artemis take off in person… I am about 2.5 hours from Cape Canaveral and you can see the rockets from my neighborhood, but I didn’t watch splash down. I’m glad it was successful!

    1. I have relatives in Florida but they said it was too cloudy in their area and they did not see the take off. That is so cool that you can see that!!

  8. Looks like a great week! Regarding cold or not, I remember some year ago you said something like 60F (can’t remember the exact number but it was equivalent to our 18-20C) is too cold for biking and I laughed to myself and thought well, that’s the norm for Irish summer weather! But, with 45F I definitely would have long sleeves too.

How fun to make a photo book!! Especially with all the fun things you and your family do constantly! I’m supposed to make a photo book this spring as a project for the camera club but I have ZERO ideas. Obviously it’s a lot more serious than Christmas fun and I guess that’s what holding me back.

    1. So I guess no one in Ireland bikes? haha!! My favorite spring/fall biking accessory is arm sleeves. I tend to start out with them and then can pull them off whenever I warm up. I love having that option!
Good luck finding your creativity to start that book! Sometimes you just have to start it, and see where it takes you.

      1. Biking is super big here! There are several cycling clubs in the area and all of them do their weekly ride on the Sunday, in (almost) all weathers! They just layer up. Arm warmers are fantastic! I have a pair myself, probably should start using them now when I want to walk outside and don’t know what to wear.

  9. I haven’t done anything with photos in ages — it is such a time suck— but I am glad for what I’ve gotten done.

LOL on getting ready in 15 min. I can get ready for work in ~ 20 but not trying to be fancy. 😉

I had a tax dispute in the early days of some new tax credit (earned income deduction? Child care?) and was so nervous stating my case, but they agreed I was the one doing the math right — I hope your issue is resolved the same way.
