This week’s blog is coming to you from my hotel on vacation! Alan and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary and his birthday on this trip. ❤️ I wrapped up another week of training for the Garmin half marathon (Sept 21) and Columbus full (Oct 19). My long run was 20 miles and the weekly total should be 44 miles and I biked 30 miles. Solid training this week!

Mon – 9 miles, pace miles.  This run went pretty good.  Not sure if I was running my targeted marathon pace or my half marathon pace, but it doesn’t matter, it was a good workout!  I have to laugh at my outfit. It made more sense when I had a shirt on. Oh well, it was comfortable although mismatched.

The afternoon was spent at the county fair.  Burgers and milkshakes are a must!

Tues – 6 miles.  Feeling accomplished… once again I slept until the very last minute, got my run in, and successfully made it to work on time after washing my hair.  Woot!  It’s the little things.  Today I am showcasing another streak of tar which looks like a heart.

And you also get an artistic shot of my breath in the chilled air!  Such morning fun.  LOL

30 miles cycling.  Maybe my last group ride of the season?  The group rides are now starting a half hour earlier but since I enjoyed the post-ride social hour I barely got home before it was dark since I commuted to the group ride.  It was beautiful weather for the ride (other than a lot of gnats on the trail, yuck!) and I shared the job of leading the ride.  It was a little faster than I was expecting, but it went well.

Weds – Rest day!  30 mins elliptical only because my cat wouldn’t let me sleep in.  Geeeeeez.  But I did start watching Netflix The Hunting Wives.  Oh my!!  Spicy.

Thurs – 5 easy miles. Big news for today – I’ve got new headphones!  My old Shokz have been deteriorating after about 6 years of use, so I took advantage of a sale.  WOW.  The “Pro” version of OpenRun sound amazing.  I love to listen to music and I was impressed with the difference. I didn’t think I needed the Pro version, but I’m super happy I got them!

Fri – 20 mile long run. Thanks to the perfect weather I had another successful long run. My last mile as my fastest and everything went quite well. I was super happy to see the neighborhood cat Mr Meowy greeting me as I started my long run (especially since it had been many days since I’d seen him last).

I also saw a family of deer, a pretty sunrise, and enjoyed a post run Starbucks.

Sat – 5 mile walk. After a whopping 3 hours of sleep, we were out the door and on our way to the airport. Mexico here we come! That 6am flight was tough, but it was nice to arrive in Mexico so early. I napped by the pool a bit, and a longer nap later in our room. It’s beautiful here with lots of cool animals around the resort. We walked after dinner and it ended up being 5 miles. Phew, it was a long day!!

Sun – Running and tanning are on the agenda. Also lounging and eating of course! Check out my beautiful chafing lines. Tell me you are a runner without telling me 😉

Q: have you seen The Hunting Wives?

Q: have you been to Mexico?

  1. Wow! Really looks like a nice few days of training for you way to go on those long runs! And of course having time to do your hair before work LOL. Have such a fun trip!

  2. Lisa, you had a solid week of workouts! Good job!

Have so much fun on your vacation in Mexico. I’ve not been, in fact my answer is no to both of your questions.

Oh my, I remember how good burgers tasted at the country fair when I was little!

  3. Ahhhh, Happy Anniversary! Looks like you’re having an amazing time — and you got in some great runs before heading to Mexico.

I feel like the race to get ready for work after a run is its own workout!

    1. Blow drying my hair on a summer day after a run is quite a challenge. But with the cooler temps I can open the window and not be sweating afterwards. That’s a big win!

  4. Happy Anniversary!! That sand looks so inviting! Enjoy your time away.

I have chafing in a different spot today, and no, I won’t be sharing any photos. LOL

    1. Ha! Fair enough on not sharing the chaffing pics 😆 Mine heals up just in time for it to chafe again on the next long run! I think keeping my phone in the back bra pocket does it.

  5. Oooh, that looks like a fantastic place for some celebrations. Happy anniversary and Happy birthday to Alan!
You had a great week of running before the trip, Good job with that 20 mile run! Nice with some bonus deer too.

  6. Happy anniversary and happy birthday to your husband! Enjoy every minute of your getaway! 😉
You deserve that – especially after a great workout week! Feet up!

  7. Happy anniversary! Sounds like you’re having the most wonderful time!

Everyone is having fair season! We have a few fairs, but they feel so corporate and less local. They just don’t have the same vibe.

I get that chafing line too. So glad I’m not alone.

I’ve been to Mexico a few times and would really love to visit again.
