Happy Tuesday everyone! My weekend fly by so fast, even though it was a long holiday weekend, it was busy with fun stuff… and now, it’s Tuesday already!
Weekly Stats:
- Training for: Owens Corning Half marathon @ the Glass City Marathon
- Days of running: 4
- Miles run: 37
- Gym visits: 2
Monday
9 miles “endurance”, 9:47 pace I hate to say this out loud for fear of jinxing myself, but this was day TWO of not having glute pain on my run. Soooooooo excited about this. I did, however, get a pain in my left shin at 8.5 miles – and I spent the rest of the day icing it. WTF??
Tuesday
XT day + yoga. No running, but I was on the stair master for 15 mins. Phew, what a sweaty workout for only 15 mins! Happily, that shin pain was not around. Odd.
Wednesday
Speedwork – LT run 8 miles, including 18 mins at race pace, 4 mins rest, 15 mins race pace Oh man, another killer workout. I ran this on the treadmill. I really felt like puking after the first fast 18 mins segment. I ran this at the 8:13 pace and was able to hang on for the whole 18 mins. After the rest, the 15 mins wasn’t quite so easy and I stepped off the treadmill a few times. I wasn’t discouraged though, because this was better than it had been in the last two weeks. Small progress people!! On a side note, I found a new fun song to add to my “energy” running playlist!
Thursday
Rest day! Jasyoga videos. Luna was very interested in the whole workout.
Friday
Long run, 12 miles, progressive – last 2 at race pace. I programmed this one in on my Garmin. It was going to start me out slow, and take me to my race pace. Running it with a pace threshold was funny because it kept beeping at me to slow down for the first half, and speed up for the second half! I’m not going to go into the details on this run. More on this later this week! ** check back Thurs, it’s very exciting!! **
I took some fun pictures…
And a funny fail (oops, didn’t know where the camera was pointing)
Saturday
Rest day! I did a couple of Jasyoga videos. Unrelated to running, I went to see a musical at our high school with Sydney, and then went to a dinner party at my bosses house. A pretty social day!
Sunday
8 miles, with intervals. I made good on my “rain check” run with my friend that I bailed on last weekend. Since she gets to me to run faster, I considered the 3 miles I ran with her as my necessary speed work for this run and called it a day! And honestly, I just couldn’t get my body running any faster to get my intervals done.
Well, that wraps up my weekly workouts!
You can find my other Training Tuesday recaps here! Linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC again this week. (there are a lot of fun blogs linked there in case you are looking for something new to read!)

Q: Have you ever hosted a dinner party?
I have not. I used to think I’d like to, but then decided it would be a stressful night!
Q: Have you ever had shin splints?
Q: Did you do anything Presidential to honor our founding father for President’s day??
I drank some Sam Adams this weekend. I believe there is a connection somewhere in that!
I’ve hosted dinner parties and we had a really fun tree trimming party last December. I have unfortunately had shin splints before. They are the worst! Really good week – kudos!

I do love going to parties, so I’m glad there are people that enjoy hosting them! 🙂
I am truly amazed at your selfie ability while running….. I have another friend that is really good at that!! I am practicing…..lol…
I think you are killing the work outs!!!! You are going to rock that half marathon!!! I think we get fatigued which makes the work outs tougher….but builds strength. Kinda like a cumulative effect… know what I mean? Taper prior and boom!!! Bang out an awesome run on race day!!!!
Love dinner parties and if I didn’t work full time, I would so do dinner parties!!!
Sadly, I didn’t do anything presidential for President’s day…. I was one of the this lucky ones that had to work…… and, my son even had to go to school!!! Catholic school doesn’t take that day off….. but, they get out on good Friday…so balances out! 🙂
Shins splints once, luckily went away quick….. I couldn’t narrow down what caused them either…. strange!
My husband was surprised that more people didn’t have the day off. Nope, just one of those banking holidays!
Luna is beautiful! Kristina is doing a lot of JasYoga right now too. Hey my PIMA popped up Sat!!! I think it is gone now. What musical was that? Grease? Bye Bye Birdie?

Lucky your PIMA went away! Mine has been OK, but I am still feeling an injury from last years speedwork on one side. Ugh. The show was All Shook Up (with Elvis music!). Really great performance.
Wow you’re going strong in your training!! Keep it up Lisa 🙂
I did host a dinner party once. Pasta Carbonara sounded like something really easy and yummy to make for six people, and it actually came up very well. I also put together a cheese plate and baked Tres Leches Cake ahead of time. Keeping things simple definitely made it less stressful.
Now, the cleaning is another story haha.

Kudos on your party!! I have hosted a bunco group several times, but it wasn’t a sit down dinner, just “grazing”. I didn’t even like the stress of that!
That’s a solid week of training! No more pain. Sending all the good vibes.
Thanks!! I can always use good vibes for sure!! 😉
