And I mean… go to the campground so we can run on Saturday 🙂
So here’s goes nothing, and I’m all packed and ready for the Mohican Trail marathon tomorrow. (As ready as I’ll ever be that is!) I’ve got numerous outfits, just in case. Mostly it’s going to be in the mid to upper 80’s so a tank top is all I will really need. And bug spray. Who knows what’s out there on those trails!
We’re making our journey to the campground right now and tonight we’ll be hanging out with some friends, sharing some beers, and carb loading. I’m looking forward to a fun weekend! Oh, and running that marathon.
Race facts:
- We’re running the “kids run”, the marathon distance in an event including 50 and 100 mile races. Last year it was 26.7 miles. When I hit 26.3 miles I’m going to yell “Ultra marathon runner here!!!” and then ask them where my belt buckle is. hahaha!!
- Race start time 12:00 noon on Saturday
- My anticipated/goal finish time: 7 hrs (but really it’s just for fun)
- My rockstar finish time goal: 6 1/2 hrs
- Trail elevation change during the race: 12,684 ft !!
- Farthest distance I’ve run this training cycle: 16 miles . Yikes!!
Wish me luck!

Q: Got any fun plans this weekend? Staying home or traveling?
Q: What is the longest amount of time you’ve been out on a race course?
I finished a 50K in 6 1/2 hours. Dang, that was a long time.

Good luck! I have absolutely no desire to ever run more than 26.2 miles and to be honest I am having difficulty getting motivated to do THAT! I have a friend who has DNFd at Leadville 3 times because she starts to go blind from the altitude but she keeps going back to try! My only “fun” plans for this weekend are a 14 mile training run Saturday morning. The longest I have been out on a race course was 5.5 hours at the Revel Rockies Marathon. Ran the first half but walked the second half. Met 2 other injured runners who were walking and we actually had an enjoyable 3.5 hour walk to the finish through some beautiful scenery.
That’s crazy about Leadville! That race sounds grueling. It’s that the best part of a marathon though – when you get to sharing your woes with the others in the same boat, walk/running it in. Been there before!!
GO GIRL, HAVE FUN!!! I too ran a 50k around 6.5 hours but my 50 miler was 11.5!
That’s a great time for a 50 miler! Was it a trail run? Would you do a 50 miler again?
Yes it was on trail. I probably won’t do one again. Not because it wasn’t a good experience, just because I don’t think my body would hold up anymore!
You go Girl! You got this.
Home this weekend. Running the Muddy Mini 1/2 marathon tomorrow.
4 hrs and 36 minutes of the longest I’ve been on course. 26.2 miles.
Well, I know you survived at Muddy – but I heard it was rough!!! Hope your race went well. And, Happy Birthday 🙂
