Just as I was complaining about the heat and humidity last week, the weather took a turn and it was wonderful. I packed in a lot of things this week, from volunteering and riding roller coasters to running and riding. 37 miles of running and 80 miles of riding.
Sun – Just a couple of pics from last Sunday. I made it out for a 40 mile ride in the morning before breakfast. My rear was feeling a bit sore after that. It was my longest ride of the season so far.
Also, my husband made good on his promise to go kayaking with me 🙂 The water in the quarry was really warm!
Mon – 5 easy miles. A little left over water around my hood. Hello Monday! I took Muchacha in for a little cough she has. We’ll only have her for another week. She’s a short term visitor! I was glad it was a drizzly day. Bad weather forces me to stay inside and get things done. Like all of the housework I have been avoiding because it’s “too nice to be inside”.
Tues – 8 miles with 6 at race pace. This run was good, but also a fail! The purpose of this run was to get comfortable with race pace, but honestly, the weather was feeling so good it made this run easy! Recently I would cringe at having to run pace miles, but not today folks. Not today! It was 68 degrees and drizzly. It felt amazing. Instead of 9:00, I was easily hitting 8:50. Hooray for that!
17.5 miles, Ladies Ride Night! How about when you randomly show up in your Cyclewerks gear and so does everyone else? I think we make good models for the bike shop! 😉
It was another fun group ride with pretty big groups. We enjoyed tacos afterwards too. Yum!
Weds – Rest day! No group ride tonight – my day was filled with our last high school registration day. (sniff, sniff!) I helped at the band info table and with registration. It was fun to see all of the kids!
Thurs – 3 miles, running. Just a quick run around the neighborhood to start my morning. Today was a tour of the University of Toledo with our son. It was a good tour and we got to visit the college of engineering too. Good information!
Fri – 21 miles, long run. I had some great luck for my loooong run today. It was only 55 degrees at the start and less humidity. It felt great!! I went to a trail I haven’t been on in a long time and kept taking pictures. It was really pretty!
I even took the time to stretch while I was at the park instead of my usual MO of driving straight over to Starbucks after my run. It felt good – I jumped for joy, it was great start to my day! 21 miles with avg 9:24 pace.
We decided to make the most of the remaining time together before school starts, so we played mini golf. Fun times!
And then, let’s go to Cedar Point! Seriously, it would be a shame to pass up 70 degree weather. I ended my day with 51,337 steps! We couldn’t stay super late because we had a big bike ride in the morning.
Sat – 64 miles, biking! We started at 7:30am and rode with a big group. At one point there were 30 of us riding together! Riding in a big group like that made it soooo easy.
My legs didn’t feel sore at all from my long run, and we rode fast. Overall rolling speed was 18.5 average. We finished in 3 ½ hours on the bike, but time flew by so fast it seemed much quicker.
Someone in our group made a video and I grabbed a couple of screenshots. We were a rolling party!
Sun – Rest day. We do have a Toledo Hens game (minor league baseball) on our schedule, so hopefully the rain won’t stop the game.
We sure will miss Muchacha! What a cutie 😊

Q: Do you find it hard to stay inside and work during the summer?
Q: What’s the last movie you saw (recent release, at home or in the theatre)?
Last week was Minions, which was good. We just watched Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Dislike!! So confusing.
My husband didn’t rate the Dr Strange film so highly, either – he had a Marvel binge when we were off work the other week!
What great running and cycling you’ve had – I am pleased for you.
And a thank you to you – the runs I DID get in this week (we’ve been having another heat wave, slightly less heat, very much longer wave and it was too much to run this weekend), I had to wear first cycling shorts and then my shortest shorts (not that short but still short enough for me), and I felt really self-conscious so I pretended that I looked like the photos you post of yourself flying along, strong and fit, and managed to push through the negative thoughts. That might sound a bit weird but I’ve pretended I’m Usain Bolt to get up the hill back onto my road before, so …!
Good for you on the shorts! We will always look different in our minds than in the mirror, but that shouldn’t stop anyone for being comfortable and feeling good!! Way to push through your workouts.
I’m not a big Marvel fan, but I liked the Spiderman movie with Dr Strange in it so I thought I might like this one. I didn’t know the backstory of the characters so that made it extra confusing I think.
OMG, over 50K steps! That’s a lot of time on your feet — sounds like a fun day though.
We had temps in the 60s the past few mornings — I might feel cold in the 50s!
I’m in a weekly 100K step challenge on Garmin. If I don’t get 1st place this week I’m going to be very suspicious!! haha! It was just such a beautiful day, I couldn’t resist doing all of the things!
You sure did pack a ton into your week! Nice job on those race pace miles. Glad you have also had some nicer weather makes all the difference
The cooler temps were much needed to build my confidence this week! My Garmin status changed to Peaking this week. Not sure that is good timing, but it was great to see something other than Unproductive for a change.
Oh yes, it’s definitely hard to get that housework in — and then in the Winter I’m not motivated either, LOL!
Great mix of workouts for you this week, and that trail looks amazing!
It’s true – I am not motivated to do housework at any time of the year! haha
It sounds like you had a great ride yesterday! Our Saturday gravel rides are like that with three huge groups (different speeds). I’m part of another group that rides roads, but I don’t ride with them regularly. We are doing the century they put on each year next Sunday.
What great weather for your long run on Friday. Yay for nailing it!

Hope you have a great Century ride! We were lonely doing the Century last year by ourselves, so that’s why we decided on the 64 mile ride instead! There was one group who rode the 100 mile ride in 4:15!! I don’t think they stopped at all. Impressive pace ! (23.6 mph!)
23.6 MPH century pace? I can’t even imagine! Good for them!

Impressive week Lisa! Very well done. You’re very ready for your marathon!
When I added up my weekly mileage I thought I had missed something. Only 37 miles for the week and 21 of them were on one day? Hmmm. But I did follow the plan, so I guess I’m on track! This is definitely not a high mileage training plan.
I’m exhausted after reading about your week, lol! 55,000 steps in one day? And a bike ride the next day? If I do too much, I have trouble sleeping at night. Does that happen to you?
On IG, I saw you rode a metric century today! Congrats!
I very rarely have problems falling asleep. The night sweats were waking me a bit, but I think a change of PJs has lessened that issue. I know, it was a lot of freaking steps that day!! But what a great day it was.
Nice week, Lisa! Lots of miles on the feet and on the wheels! My house definitely is low on the priorities when the weather is nice…big surprise, right? 😉
I think I’ll target a chilly Fall day for my Spring cleaning this year. Yep, it never got done earlier this year!
So you ran 21 miles on Friday and rode 64 miles on Saturday? I hope you enjoyed a rest day today! Sounds like you had an incredible week.
Muchacha…sniff, sniff. I want her to stay so I can see more pictures.
I did read somewhere that black cats aren’t popular because they aren’t Instagramable! But true, most of her pictures look like a black blob. She is yet another kitten that my husband said he’d love to keep. 😂
Yep, I was Superwoman over the weekend. And I took a big nap after the bike ride. Cumulative fatigue hit me hard!!
What a fun week. A little bit of everything and the weather helped.
Yes. I hate to be indoors. ESP on the weekend. The housework is lacking.
Aww on the kitty? A new one coming?
I just went to see Mac and Rita. A fun chick flick.
We just picked up a pair of kittens! A boy and a girl. More details later!
Love the variety of all your workouts this week!
Muchacha is so pretty! I wish she staying so we could see more photos of her 🙂
Muchacha was a sweetie for sure! I’m sure she will find a home pretty fast.
