Howdy!! This week was all about getting back in routine. We had a super fun trip to Germany and France. My recap of the Berlin Marathon is here if you haven’t seen it yet. I do need to write up a little vacation recap too. It was an unforgettable experience! We saw so many cool things on vacation and yet it went by so fast. But there was a lot of fun Fall things happening back in Ohio which made reentry back into reality a bit better :). Here’s what happened since I’ve been back…
Sun – 3.5 mile run. I’ve got a bit of jet lag from our trip and I woke up at 4am. Oh great. Finally at 6:30am I decided to go for a run, because what else am I supposed to do? I have had a bit of glute soreness with these first runs but no other pains. Yay!
Mon – 6 mile run. Had the day off work today, and woke up at 6am. Getting a little better! I was surprised how cold 45 degrees felt! My last run a few weeks ago was in tank top and shorts, and now it’s really Fall. Not sure how I feel about that!

Tues – 3 mile run. I actually had to be woken up by my alarm today, so I guess that means jet lag is over! It was 38 degrees outside! Brrrrr Remembering the chill from yesterday I wore tights, long sleeve, a light jacket and gloves/earband today!! It was my first day back to work and I needed this sense of routine to start out on a good note. It worked and my first day back to work went smooth.

Weds – 3 mile walk. The weather was beautiful after work so I took advantage of it and walked with my neighbor. Always nice to catch up with my friend!

Thurs – 6.5 mile run. Yep, frost again. Didn’t really have a plan this morning so I ended up running 6.5 miles. It felt a bit challenging!

Fri – 4 mile run. Again, frost! The temps were going to climb 30 degrees today so I’m not complaining. This run was a little faster because I was testing out those pink race shoes I got a few weeks ago (Saucony Endorphin Pro 3). They felt great!!

We got everything packed into our new camper so now it’s time to try it out. I am not kidding when I say there were no campsites available in the tri-state area. With the amazing weather it’s no surprise! I did find one site left at a campground close by. It turned out to be a super great site! Sam got to go camping again and he’s a fan of the new camper.

Sat – 4 miles hiking, and kayaking. The campground has a very calm lake with a trail around it, so we hiked the trail and kayaked on the lake! What beautiful fall views.

We checked out a farm in the area but they didn’t quite have the pumpkins I was looking for. They did have some cute pigs!

Sun – 20 mile bike ride. After coming back home I couldn’t resist a bike rice. It was 74 degrees. Can’t pass that up! I practically forgot how to ride my bike. Ok, I kid, but still, it’s been awhile since I’ve rode! Afterwards we went to a local pumpkin patch and I finally decorated the house for Halloween!

Here’s a couple of fun pictures of Sam 😆 He’s such a big kitty now! Sure doesn’t look like a kitten anymore. He has such expressive eyes!

Q: Do you pass out candy for Halloween?
We still need to buy some. Best to wait until the last minute so we don’t eat it all 😉

Wait… kayaking with those cold temperatures? It must have heated up nicely during the day! It looks beautiful!
Great for you to be back home and running post-marathon with no pains.
We usually keep some sweets at home for Halloween just in case but haven’t had any visits yet since we moved here. Perhaps because we live a bit away from the nearest village and along a main road so it isn’t really an area where kids would walk around.
As we flew from Paris to Iceland for a connecting flight home I got excited when I saw Cork on the map. I know someone there!! 🙂
Gotta love when it feels like summer here in October! Still good weather for kayaking!
Oh yes you do! Hint, there’s the Cork city marathon the first weekend of June! 😀
Your getaway looks great! This fall weather has been so nice. But like your campgrounds, everything is so crowded. I guess that’s not a bad thing.
I need to pick up some candy for Halloween. I usually buy chocolate because that’s what I like and we usually have leftovers.
Off to read your Berlin recap!
I’m glad we tried a different campground. It was a nice surprise how much we liked it!
I like how you got back from a European vacation (with a marathon thrown in) and then headed off for camping. Don’t you ever rest??? Just kidding- but I do think your energy levels are higher than mine!
Glad everything is feeling good. Sam is beautiful! They grow out of kittenhood so fast, it seems. And he does have huge, beautiful eyes (like our black cat, Charlotte.)
To answer your question, yes we do give out candy! A couple weeks ago when we were at Target buying hurricane supplies, candy was on sale so we got it then. We are ready!
We were very excited to try out the camper – especially since it’s been sitting in our driveway for at least 3 weeks now! (Glad the HOA hasn’t said anything about it 🤣) It was impossible to pass up a camping trip with our beautiful weather.
Saw a bunch of your photos on IG-your trip looked great. Congratulations again on your marathon. So glad you were able to recover and get there. It’s nice to come home to fall!
I really tried to keep up with some vacation photos on IG but also on Facebook and Snapchat… and it was a lot of work! It was great to be able to run Berlin AND feel healthy at the end.
We had frost advisories, but none of the real stuff yet. I know it’s coming, though. This delayed fall has been nice! We’re now getting the colors, but the temps have been warmer than usual. I’m liking that!
I thought we had seen the last of 70+ degree temps, but wow, these last few days have been really great. A perfect weekend too!
I am so happy you had such a great trip to Germany and France. And now you’re back and fall is in full swing – beautiful foliage!
Wow, frost already! We have fog today which is always nice and autumnal (and handy for when you’re doing a photo-a-day project!). Sam’s looking amazing, what a cutie and so grown up!
