Looking back through my pictures this week it doesn’t even seem like the same week! It was toasty warm at the start of the week (AC at home!) and ended with the furnace on again. In between there were a lot of late nights and a very messy kitchen (spoiler alert, it wasn’t messy with food!). My body was out of whack and the countdown is on for both college graduation AND for the Glass City Marathon. Relay team, here I come!! Let’s just get into the craziness of the week…

Sun – 12 miles mountain biking.  We did the “long” trail today, which I have only done a handful of times.  It was long indeed!  By the time we made it back to the start we were starving.  A food truck was there and we had a beer.  Funny thing was we saw our daughter’s boyfriend who rode 50 miles that day.  After each loop his group of friends rested and hydrated with beer..  OMG, after just one beer I was ready to go home and nap.  I can’t even imagine all of that riding and beer.  I certainly could not hang with that group!

Mon – 6.5 miles running.  I was a bit surprised when I saw a 7 mile run on my plan, even though I ran an 8 mile long run on Saturday, but I made it 6.5 miles and that was good enough!  It was 64 degrees, which was challenging.

After running errands and doing my tasks I went out for a bike ride.  75 degrees!  It was a nice ride and we turned on the air conditioning for the first time at the house.  Oh boy. This part of the trail is my favorite. You can smell the pine trees!

Tues – 3 mile run.  Another dark morning run because it was 65 degrees!  I don’t love running in the dark but I do enjoy it when it’s warm out.  A saw an odd thing on my run… a neighbor runner.  As I started down my road he came sprinting from his garage.  Next thing I knew he was doing sprints on the sidewalk.  Why is this odd?  For one, he had a long sleeve shirt on. Even I think that is overdressed for 65 degrees.  But more importantly was that he was running sprints on the sidewalk in the dark.  I guess he’s never tripped on our sidewalks!  That’s something you only have to experience once and you never do it again.  With his sprinting and resting he kept running right next to me. I wasn’t weirded out by him, or feeling unsafe, but I just wanted my own peaceful run so I took a turn as soon as it came.

Weds –  1.75 mile walk after work.  The college graduation finish line is in sight! Less than a month to go. Sydney leveraged Alan’s technical and soldering skills on a capstone project.  Unfortunately they ran into some issues and were working on the project until 3am at our house last night!!  It was a bit stressful to say the least. Little did we know that this picture was taken when the project was just beginning. MANY more project hours ahead.

Thurs – 4 miles, treadmill.  A rainy day!  I did a few intervals.  It was OK.  Feeling pretty “meh” about my training this week, but I got it done. Here’s what is bringing me lots of joy… my tulips!!

It was another late night (3am) on the technical project. Yes, I was sleeping through it! Kudos to them for working so hard. Do you like Alan’s shirt? LOL

Fri – 4 miles.  The stream nearby was overflowing with all of the rain lately!

It was a big day… graduation pictures for my daughter!  And I am the photographer!! I was a bit nervous because “take some pictures of me” turned into a 3 hour photo session with Sydney, along with her graduating roommate and another roommate who came along and helped pose the girls.  I was very thankful for the help!  I think they really turned out good. #shotonmyiphone

Sat – 7 mile treadmill run.  I woke to heavy rainstorms, so it was a treadmill run again!  This was good because I am in the process of doing some vacation prep.  Today’s movie was “Letters to Juliet”.  Maybe you can guess where we are headed next?

We went to see Zach and watch the Spring Game at Ohio State.  Thankfully we had covered seats because it was raining for most of the game!  It was great to see him and his girlfriend.

Sun – I will be picking up my volunteer gear for the Glass City Marathon!! I am working packet pickup. I can’t believe it’s race week already. And hey, my birthday week too (yo, 420 club!)

Need some more inspiration? I’m linking up with Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Kim from Running on the Fly for their Weekly Run Down. Check out all of the fun blogs there!

This week has been a bit challenging.  Just when I was feeling a bit more “lean” after cutting back from vacation treats, I had a setback due to some medication.  I started a new medicine that made me really bloated.  Running didn’t feel great and the tummy bloat bulge was visible to me.  Ugh. How frustrating!!  Thankfully it went away after several days.  But the really good news – the technical project is working! Hooray!!

Q: Does anyone know how to solder??

Nope, not me. But 3 of my family members do!

Also, I’m starting to post some of my Switzerland trip. It’s a work in process, but you can start here!

  1. So glad their perseverance paid off and they got it working! I have no idea how to solder but my husband probably has a lot to say as a materials engineer. 😉

    The graduation photos look lovely!!

    Happy Birthday!!

  2. Happy birthday a day early!

I bet your husband and daughter are happy to have that project behind them, and I bet you’re even happier that you weren’t involved! I’ve never soldered, but have watched both my dad and husband do it.

You did a great job taking your daughter’s graduation photos. It’s amazing how good our iPhone cameras are these days.

  3. Wait. Your daughter is graduating already??? Did she do some kind of accelerated program or has it really been FOUR YEARS since she went to college!? The photos are great. What is she doing next?
It’s your birthday week! I hope you’re doing some fun things to celebrate.
To answer your question- no I do not know how to solder!!! That looks like quite a project.
