Yes, that really is a word. Well, at least “niggle” is a word that is heard a lot in the running community and it often appears around “taper madness”.
As for taper madness, I think this article sums it up perfectly for me…
Read more about it here… it’s pretty funny (and ALL true!!) And really, “should I buy new shorts?”. Of course! If only I could find a pair that fits correctly. Sigh.
And about those niggles. That happened to me this morning. For reasons unknown to me, my right shin decided to hurt. Just out of the blue as I started my run this morning. I simply ignored it (of course!) and iced it after my run. But on a good note, my left knee didn’t hurt one bit. Go figure. By 4:00pm, the pain was gone.
I did some more kick butt intervals this morning. Five 1/2 mile intervals from a pace of 7:30 up to 6:40! I was very happy with this set because the last one was faster than the last time I ran intervals.
We took a day off on Tuesday and went to the new aquarium at our zoo. It was pretty great taking a day off in the middle of the week because it made it seem like the weekend already!
The day started with some wholesome breakfast. I mean, a bunch of sugar. Rock on!!
Then we spent a long time at the zoo.
The coolest thing was this stingray who really wanted to be our friend! He was practically jumping out of the tank to get petted. Awwwww!
We also made friends with some parakeets who also really enjoyed our company. And the treat on a stick.
After our long day at the zoo, we went out for pizza. It was a well rounded family fun day!
Q: Are you doing anything special this week? Enjoying Spring Break maybe?
Q: Favorite donut flavors?
A: 1) Those things with the creme fillings. 2) Frosted with sprinkles 3) Pretty much anything at the bakery.
Q: Dream pet – stingray or parakeet??
A: Stingray, because that means I would live at the beach, right?
I’m doing lots of special things – taking 3 days off work and spending extra time with my awesome family. And running a lot to burn off those donuts!
I just had 3 wonderful low key days with my 5 year old on a little stay-cation! It was great! bike riding, coloring eggs, etc. Went by too fast though!!! Back to work for me today! UGH! Long day too! Work until 7pm! But, bless to have a job I enjoy!
hmmm, favorite donut?! Pretty much anything with chocolate!!! But, if I had to narrow it down…. boston cream donut! Love the custard middle with chocolate on top! YUM! YUM! 🙂 And, worry about the calories? Uh, no! That is why we run, right? LOL 🙂
A bird verus stingray… I pick stingray! Not only because it would mean I was at the beach like you stated, but simply because I tend to suffer from ornithophobia (and yes, i goggled that-of course I didn’t have that word on the tip of my tongue!). It is defined as an irrational fear of birds, but I tend to think I have a rational fear of birds because those things are unpredictable! I have been pecked by one just out of the blue! Had one fly out of the dog food section of wal-mart at me! So, yes, I am rational to have a fear of birds! LOL 🙂
You would not have liked our experience in Mexico last summer… our family posed with a toucan. Of course they had to put that bird on *my* shoulder. I don’t have a fear of birds, but I wasn’t comfortable with it being so close to my face. Sure enough, I showed a bit of fear and it bit my nose!! ACCCK!! My reaction scared off the other families that were waiting to get their pictures taken. oops.
this is best said in all caps…
I AM DYING TO GO TO THE NEW AQUARIUM!!!!!!!!!!
Grandma took the kids yesterday (spring break) and I really can’t wait to go. BUT, I want the crowd to die down a bit. How was it?????
It was really cool! We got to the zoo super early, which is unheard of in our family, so we got in to the zoo right away and went to aquarium. The crowds were not bad at all at that time, and we didn’t have to wait to get in. I don’t know how it was later in the day. They also had some cute baby sharks you could touch!
Is that Village Pizza?
J&G’s (Sylvania). We haven’t been there in probably 15 years! Good stuff.
