This week was the big reveal of the Glass City Marathon medal designs! This is a big difference from the medals in the past which featured the same design, but different text on them.
I love the little medals for the Findley Davis kid’s marathon. Technically, they don’t make them run a marathon… but for little kids legs it may seem like it! haha! My kids had a good time running this event for many years now, and they are looking forward to it again in April.
This week I am enjoying time off from work (all week, woohoo!) and I’ve got the following workouts on my training plan:
- Tues: Rest
- Weds: 10 miles GA (general aerobic)
- Thurs: Rest
- Fri: 13 miles with 8 at marathon pace (I’m not really going to stress this one. If my hip is feeling up to it, I’ll do the “speed” part of this run too, if not, just slow pace.) Also scheduled for this day is a fun 5K (the Toledo Roadrunners Hangover Classic!).
- Sat: Rest again?!
- Sun: 8 miles with strides 10 x 100 m
I think I will probably switch these days around a little based on what things we have planned and the weather. Despite being a bit sore last week, I think the hip issue is minimizing but I’ll need to take it easy still.
Just a reminder that only a few more days remain of the early bird pricing for the Glass City Marathon races! If you’re thinking about running the full Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, you should have a training plan in the works, or starting soon in January. Why not save a few bucks and sign up now?
In addition, if you’re looking for some experienced coaching, extra motivation and camaraderie, the Dave’s Running GCM Training group starts January 5th. It’s a great way to stick with your plan and achieve your goals. For those planning on running the Owens Corning Half Marathon, Dave’s has you covered too!

Q: Do you have a favorite medal from a race?
Q: Do you normally train with a group, or on your own?
Favorite race medal???
That is a hard one, none of them actually jump out at me!
I would have to pick my very first medal earned – for the Glass City Half in 2011. My first half ever.
The first one earned is always special! I have a really cool handmade wooden one from my first (and only!) 50K. Definitely well earned!!
I registered for the Glass City 5k last night before the price increase. It will be my first race of 2016. Can’t wait for my training to start in February!
Woohoo!! I had my first race today… just posted it, it did not end well. haha (yours will go much better!)
