Dreaming… because I’m practically asleep at my desk this morning after a late flight home from Boston! My family arrived at Detroit airport at 11:30pm last night, and our heads hit the pillows around 1:30am. And yes, school doesn’t wait for anyone, so that meant “up and at ’em” at 6:30am like always.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….. oh, and did I mentioned it’s MY BIRTHDAY TODAY?!
Woot!!
Such a lovely day outside too, but my only thoughts right now are to be home snuggling in my bed for a few more hours. I made a stop on the way to work this morning for a special Birthday Cake latte. I’d seen this advertised around town, and it looked like the perfect day to try it out. With an extra shot in it for good measure.
I won’t be telling you all about the Boston marathon quite yet, but I will tell you that it was a good weekend – maybe not for running a marathon, but for family time 🙂
When we arrived on Saturday we had some insider information that there were some running “celebrities” at the finish line meeting people. We got to meet Meb…
Ryan Hall…
And Desiree Linden!
I’m hoping a little bit of her speediness rubbed off on me when I met her!
I also got to talk to Sarah Bowen Shea from my fav Another Mother Runner. That was another highlight of the race weekend for me.
As was the free Sam Adams beer! 🙂
Alright, that’s all I’ve got time for right now. More Boston info coming up soon!…

Q: Did you get to watch any of the Boston marathon?
We were pretty awesome spectators if I do say so myself! 🙂
Q: Do you have any special birthday rituals?
My birthday celebration will be postponed until this weekend due to our traveling this week. Hopefully it will be a birthday/Boston Qualifying race celebration for me!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I went to Boston in 2010 to run it and then I went in 2011 to watch my friend run it and I have to say I loved watching it way better than running it! And I LOVE running. So, it’s just such an incredible race with so much energy and spirit.

Spectating is a whole other challenge of logistics vs the physical challenge of running. We were pretty tired at the end of our day too!
Happy Birthday! I was watching the race from a barstool at The Pour House on Boylston. I think I was the only one drinking coffee. Looked like everyone else was pounding beers! Good luck on your BQ race. If I can heal up a few nagging dings, I may try to BQ in September.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope your late night doesn’t leave you feeling too exhausted today.
I loved seeing all of your pictures on instagram last weekend/Monday. It sounds like it was an amazing experience. So super jealous that you got to meet Desi. Maybe someday if I ever qualify I will get a chance to say hi to her.
