Training plan update – I have not picked a plan yet, but really appreciate the comments on different plans which I had not heard of!  I have been busy researching. Thanks for the info!

The first Holiday Light Run that I was invited to this year ended up getting overruled because my son’s band concert was rescheduled for that night. But no worries, I joined the group for the drink & gift portion of the evening!  We all brought a small gift to exchange – a favorite running item.  I was happy to be treated to the gift of super warm and comfy Alpaca socks for post run relaxation!  This is such a great group of ladies and I’m happy to be part of them.  I’ve met several great running partners in this group.  Looking forward to running many more miles with them!

The next night was another Holiday Light Run hosted by my husband’s running friend.  We also ran this last year, when we wore short sleeve t-shirts (what a warm day it was!!).  This year it was right around 32 degrees, so full tights and layers were needed.

I had already run 4.5 miles on the treadmill in the morning, and we ran another 4.5 miles together at this group run.  Yeah to getting in 9 miles today.  I’m on my way to my goal!  We had a route that led us past some beautiful (huge!) trees, and many other houses all decorated.

The downtown area was quite scenic (also the location of that holiday 5K that I got my PR at a few weeks ago!!).

We actually got some good pictures!  I was a little nervous about being the slowest runner in the group, but it was no problem at all.

After the run, we had post race food and drinks.  Beer and pizza of course!  Full disclosure: by the end of the day I had eaten 5 pieces of pizza that day!  I also had pizza at my office Christmas luncheon.  Carb overload!!  Hey, it’s the holidays! 🙂

It was as great night, with a great group of friends.  I thought about the fun running related events I’ve been going to lately and I feel very blessed to be surrounded by people who are a lot of fun, and share the passion of running.  I hope you too feel blessed in your life!

Q:  Did you go on any holiday light runs this season?

I also like running in our neighborhood in the morning.  The lights are really great around here!

Q: Do you run with any groups, or mostly by yourself?

Q:  Are the houses decorated where you live?

  1. Sounds like a very fun night! I live in a condo so there isn’t a lot of outside the house decorations going on in my neighborhood, but my neighbor has a beautiful Christmas tree right in front of a huge window. I see it every morning when I am leaving for work and it makes leaving while it is still pitch black a bit easier to deal with.

    1. We used to turn our outside lights off around midnight, but this year I am keeping them on until “dawn”. I love seeing our in the morning. LED for the win!! Hey, thanks for the heads up on the Pfitz book too. I had no idea!

  2. It just isn’t a run with my friends unless we play frogger in the dark on the road with all the oncoming traffic! Great run though!

    1. He plays trumpet! He’s actually quite good. My daughter plays clarinet. I also played clarinet, and coming from that, I was baffled on how so many sounds could come out of the trumpet with only three valves!!
