My week started out slow, and a bit frustrating, but picked up by the end of the week. Here’s what went down last week….
Monday – No running, all stuffy from my cold.
Tuesday – 3.5 miles, treadmill. Still clogged up from my cold. Boo.
Wednesday – SUCKY day. My back hurt, and I was on the couch with a heating pad most of the night. It was so uncomfortable to sit at my desk all day. I feel so bad for people with chronic back pain. Not sure how you get through it!
Thursday – 3.3 miles. Feeling better (hooray!!) I ran outside!! In the cold!! In the (partial) dark! The Christmas lights in the neighborhood were the real reason I went outside 🙂
Big news…. We got a gym membership! Alan really wanted to get more cardio in, because he’s still not running a lot, so we went to our local “gym at the mall”. Turns out they were having a $0 sign up event, and it’s only $10 a month. Deal! I did all of the weight machines. This is my new favorite – assisted pull ups. Someday I will have big muscles and do it all on my own 🙂
Friday – Back at the gym! 30 mins on elliptical, 15 mins on stair machine (ugh!!) and 5 on the rowing machine. I had to get home for a tech call. I got to watch Big Brother on my phone (Dish to Go!). I like queuing up shows to watch at the gym!
Run = 1.25 miles. I really wanted to get a picture of me running for a contest they were having in the Another Mother Runner “Stride into the Holidays” group, so I ran a short 1.25 miles.
Saturday – 9 miles, long run! My plan was to slow it down, and feel good at the end of the run. That didn’t quite happen. I really should have stopped at 8 miles on this run, but I still had a mile to get home, so I took a walk break and then finished it up. My glutes/hammies were a bit annoyed by the run. Boo! It was also freaking cold by the end of my run, despite wearing my fleece tights – my booty was freezing! It was 28 degrees but sure felt a lot colder. I found this woolly bear on my run. He was alive! It’s a bit late for him to be around.
Sunday – My plan said Rest Day, and my body said Rest Day, but after doing a 10 min video of stretches, I was hankering to get outside. I mean, when the temps hit 52 degrees on a December day in Ohio, you just GOT to get outside. I took the kids to a nearby park and we ran the 1.6 mile loop. Large hawks were seen, and we stomped through the leaves. And you know what? They had fun despite them both whining about going out there!! 🙂
Linking up with Hoho and Wendy for the weekly workout wrap up.
Q: Did you have warmer temperatures on Sunday? Did you get to enjoy them??
Q: Do you keep your outdoor Christmas lights on all night?
We do now. Our automatic timer broke!!
Poured rain all Saturday but the upside was that it washed away most of the snow. Sunday was overcast and a little dreary but warmer. Managed to get our 8 miler done that was postponed from Saturday. Boston training starts 3 weeks from today so I need to ramp up the mileage. I usually leave the Xmas lights on until I leave the house in the morning.
If it’s going to be cold, I want to see some snow on the ground! 🙂 The break in the weather was a good chance for everyone to put their xmas lights out. Our neighborhood is getting all lit up now! My marathon training will start 1st week of January. Eek, did I just say that outloud?
Glad you were able to get in some good workouts later in the week! The warm weather was such a nice treat these past couple of days. That gym membership is a great deal! I think for that price I wouldn’t feel too bad if I only used it once in awhile.

My husband will go to the gym a lot… that will more than make up for me only going once or twice a week! 🙂 He really needs the cardio/cross training, and he’ll have a lot of choices there. I’m super excited they have free wifi. I’m going to have a lot of entertainment options!
We don’t have outdoor lights but I’ve never known people to keep them on all night. Most people here put them on a timer to turn off around 11 or so. For $10 a month, you can’t beat a gym membership even if you only go maybe twice a week… that’s still just over $1 per trip, so I don’t blame you to both join. Plus no sign up fee is great.

I think I’ll go to the gym at least once a week, but Alan will go a lot more. It’s all good! I’m glad several people in our hood leave their lights on all night. It makes for such a pretty morning run!
I’m working on pullups-my coach helps me do assisted pullups and they are hard! I don’t know if I’ll ever do one on my own. Sigh.
Great week of training! That poor caterpillar. Brrrr….
It was kind of crazy to see that little caterpillar. But I checked, he moved! I’m guessing he won’t be making it a moth though 🙁
That’s a fantastic deal on gym membership. Our YMCA monthly fee has gotten a bit extreme. I don’t keep my lights on overnight, but I adore an early morning run and seeing everyone else who does! I think your foggy jump picture is awesome! Good luck with the contest. Thanks very much for linking with us too!
The gym is missing a track, and a pool, but other than that it’s got everything I need. I never did get into the pool at my former gym (LA Fitness) so I’m not missing that. And the fact that it’s only 4 miles away – which I know because I’ve run that route before – makes it even better! Well, that, and when I’m done working out I can go shopping at the mall. 🙂
Ooh look at those back muscles!!!! That is a DEAL for a gym. My PF membership is $10 a month and that is why I keep it ALWAYS, even if I don’t go for months in a row. We do not keep our lights on all night, I’m scared of fires!!! But I do appreciate my neighbors who do because it makes my morning runs very cheerful. 🙂 Why did your back hurt? Lower back?
