It’s that time of the year again… my time off work is over, the kids are back to school. Even though I only skipped one week of work this holiday, it seemed like much longer – and I’m not complaining! We did a lot of fun things together as a family. Call me sappy, but I see the next few years of my kids life going by super fast and I want to enjoy it all I can. Sydney will be graduating from high school in a just 2 years!! Ok, it’s 2 1/2 years, but still, tooooooo soon. And Zach? Why is he taller than me now??

One thing I missed out on last week was everyone posting their 2019 New Years Resolutions. I mentioned a few of these on my 2018 recap, but here’s a more well defined list of stuff I’d like to see happen in 2019…

  1. Meal planning! This just means sitting down, ideally once a month, or every other week, and put some recipes on our meal calendar. I despise going to the store several times a week. It stresses me out not having a plan. Planning… I can do it. It’s not that hard to plan!
  2. Use my new cookbook! This is related to item #1, but I want to incorporate a recipe from my new cookbook into each week and try everything in the cookbook. Kinda like Julia and Julia.
  3. Get a BQ and run Boston 2020. Yep, there, I said it. My goal for running Glass City Marathon is to BQ. Boston 2020 will be on my birthday, and I’d love to be running it!
  4. Follow the training plan. This is related to item #3. I’m going to try my darnedest to stick with the training plan for Dave’s MIT and run the proper paces. I’m hoping running my long runs slower will get to me to the start line injury free!
  5. Strength Train! This is a repeat from every year. Maybe this will be the year?? I have NO excuse – I have a gym membership now in addition to my own home gym. Do it.
  6. Do at least ONE trail race. I did none in 2018. I’d like to do at least one in 2019.
  7. Do at least ONE triathlon. In fact, I’d like to up my distance to the Olympic! (because that sounds way tougher than Sprint! haha)
  8. Practice patience and understanding. Did I mention Sydney will start learning how to drive soon??? Yep, going to need this.

Beyond those ideas, I always have an ongoing list of goals and projects I need to accomplish. Clean my closet, record my finances, clean my office… a lot of them tend to be centered around being more organized! I’m seeing a trend here.

How about you?

Q: Do you consider yourself an organized person? Dread the thought of “cleaning out a closet” or consider it a fun goal to accomplish??

Q: Do you remember learning how to drive?

Q: Do you plan out the meals at your house? If so, how often?

  1. You have some great goals! Meal planning has not happened in my house in many years. There were so many years of school activities and events (our three kids were all three years apart in grades), that it was impossible to have all (or any) of us here at meal time. Bad excuse, but it’s what I knew. And I have so many closets to clean out and purge….procrastination keeps winning that battle.

    1. I know what you mean about busy kids schedules. And then there’s the times when the best plans are spoiled when we all decide Taco Tuesday at the restaurant sounds way better than my crockpot meal 🙂 I used to also use coupons. How did I manage that?? Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I LOVE cleaning out closets but I feel like I have to savor it for like when I have a few days in a row off…lol.

Every year I say I want to meal plan, but I never do.

I do have a plan to go to the Boston Marathon this year (as spectator to watch my sister run). That will be the only time I will ever get to the marathon and that’s okay by me because trying to BQ sounds like too much work….haha

    1. Spectating Boston is actually more fun than running it! But I feel like I need to go back. I ran Boston on a rainy day and I want a sunny day. But not too hot. And not too windy. Just right. Not too much to ask. Haha! You will have a great time with your sister. Boston loves its marathon!!

  3. Yeah on the BQ goal! Hopefully there will be 2 happy runners in our house after the Glass City Marathon!
