Hold on tight, it’s homecoming week!! Our high school was non stop fun for the kids and I got to enjoy a lot of it too. With my son being a senior, this will be our last one so I tried to make the most of it. As the activities piled on, so did my miles. I ran 38 miles this week! The weather was really conducive for running and I also made the most of it 😉 Even though it was a busy week, it was a lot of fun and I felt really good.
Mon – 4.5 miles, treadmill. Hello again treadmill! Treadmill runs will probably be my new norm as it’s so dark outside now. No problem for me!
Tues – 6.5 miles. It was a WFH day so I got to chase the sunrise. 47 degrees felt good and it was fun to bust out my long sleeve shirts again.

Weds – Rest day! My son dressed up in 80’s fashion for spirit day at school. I even had my old Sony Walkman cassette player to finish off his look (complete with my Hard Rock cafe shirt and pegged jeans!).

Thurs – 15 miles, long run. I shifted my long run around due to some events happening this week.

I was not disappointed with the weather, although I did underestimate the temperature a bit. Started with a quarter zip, ended in my sports bra. 51 felt great for it!

Homecoming fun – it was Flag Football night (aka, powderpuff football). I volunteered at the snack table. The senior girls won but the freshman were tough competition and got 2nd place. All classes had male cheerleaders. I might be bias, but I think the senior boys did the best! Not a great picture, but that’s my son doing the cartwheels across the front.

Fri – Kayaking and 3 mile run. We enjoyed another kayak trip around the quarry, and then went garage sale shopping. I scored several deals including a BOSU ball for $5! I look forward to using it (and I told my husband that we’d get rid of it in our next garage sale if I didn’t. The stakes are high!)

Homecoming parade! Keeping with the 80’s theme of the seniors, one of the families drove their DeLorean!! It was so fun to see it!

It was the first sold out game in our school’s history – 5,900 people!! The competition was tough (and the visiting school was actually a bit rude!), and we sadly lost. This was our first loss the season. Whomp whomp. But the half time show was good and the Jr High kids marched on the field too. 263 kids total!

And our daughter joined us ❤️

Sat – 9 miles running. Another great weather morning! The whole day was beautiful, which was perfect for the homecoming dance. My son went with friends. I think they really nailed their pictures, don’t you?? What a fun group of kids.

Sun – Rest day! Time to decorate the house with some fall stuff! We also picked up a car!! We have been searching for a car for my son for months now. The market for used cars really sucks! But then, my Dad decided they only need one car and sold their car to us. A 2005 CRV, one owner, with only 29,000 miles on it??? unheard of. Woohoo!

Funny picture of the week… this is an unflattering look into the daily life of foster kitten parents! Crazy cat lady. I’m just trying to read a magazine!!

Need some more inspiration? I’m linking up with Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Kim from Running on the Fly for their Weekly Run Down. Check out all of the fun blogs there!
Thanks for making it this far. I had a lot of pictures this week 🙂 🙂
Q: Did you have any homecoming activities in your town?
Hee hee…the kitten siege is The Best Picture on The Internet Ever
Oh those kittens and their tiny knifelike claws!! Never a peaceful moment when they are awake.
you all really do get into homecoming at your school! Looks like you had some great runs this week too. Nice!
The community came out in full force for our homecoming week. It was a lot of fun to see the kids having a normal year and enjoying it!
What a fun week!!! I love how you had beautiful fall weather for homecoming week. My daughter is in eighth grade, and they’re joining the high school band for the football game next week- I can’t wait!
You really lucked out with the car. I know how hard it was to find one because we went through the same thing with my son over the summer (he’s very happy having his Kia Soul at school now.)
You’ll have to let us know who wins the battle of the BOSU ball! Will you use it, or will it go out in a garage sale? Suspense!
You know I love the kitten picture!!! Yep, that’s kittens.
It was HOCO 2022 in my town as well, but we’re well outta that loop now. I want a BOSU!!!! What a deal you got on that one! You must be maintaining your mileage for another race (?)…looks like you had a great week of running!
I surely couldn’t pass up $5 for the BOSU! I might have some crazy marathon idea in my mind. Maybe.
I am definitely LOL at the photo of the kittens climbing all over you — thanks for the laugh!
That’s so great that your Dad sold the car to your son.
Everyone thinks I’m such a grandma because my 2000 Honda Civic has just shy of 80,000 miles on it. Look, I’m not so bad, LOL! I WFH before it was an acronym and we never used my car for long trips.
The fall temps feel so good, don’t they? Score on the Bosu!
I knew the CRV didn’t get used much but I had no idea the miles were so low on it. Score!!! No wonder my mom thought my 116,000 miles sounded really high on my car.
It was homecoming here too, but a lot of activities were rained out. Looks like you had great weather and your son had fun with his friends.
LOL on the kitties. Never a moment’s peace!
A few of the kittens have discovered we have an upstairs to our house. God help us now. Haha!!
I remember homecoming being such a fun week in high school. It’s nice to be totally silly with classmates!
Love the photo with the kitties!
Those kittens are getting a bit rambunctious. You can tell it’s almost time for them to leave us. They need to spread their wings!
It’s been so great having a normal school year.
This will be our first homecoming. Our town doesn’t have any specific activities, but our school sure does. And A decided to go to the dance! Eek! It’s at the end of the month, and I can’t wait.
In the meantime, our band competition season starts on Saturday and I am so ready!
Great runs, gorgeous weather for you!
How exciting for your son!! I think my son has always gone with friends. They had a lot of fun this year! Yay band! I can’t believe we only have one more home game (2 more away games). I’m going to get weepy seeing that one!
That last pic is my favorite of the post.
Congrats on a full week with lots of running nd fun activities.
My car has 160K lol
I can’t remember how I happened upon your blog. But I am a band mom from your rival school. 😉 That game was crazy! I have never seen so many people at a high school game! Your band was great, as always. 🙂
What? Perrysburg? Boo, hiss! 😆 Ok, sad we lost our homecoming game – it WAS crazy! A good game with some tough competition. I can’t believe the season is almost over. I will really miss it! Thanks for stopping by my blog. And, I do believe we will be seeing your band again at DISNEY too!! Yay for both of the bands!
