It was another week of temperatures in the upper 80’s and low 90’s. It did make workouts a bit challenging. We did have a lot of family time and went on camping trip. I like being able to go camping in the middle of the week! I ran 31 miles this week and bike 54 miles so far. It was a good week of training and family time.
Mon – 6 miles, tempo run. Yet another sweatfest. Phew!! At 74 degrees I was soaked by the time I got home. Luckily I could jump in my 87 degree pool and it actually did feel good. I also went to the gym this morning.

1.35 mile walk – Dave’s Running Metropark Monday cookout! Another run day for Zach, and a walk for Alan and I. The park felt like a jungle with the damp weather. It rained all afternoon and it was a bit swampy. But that didn’t put a damper on the cookout. I even won a really nice Saucony hat at the giveaway!

Tues – 6 easy miles. FINALLY, some good running weather! It was 61 degrees and felt marvelous! This was supposed to be just a slow run, but it turned into a progression run due to the fact I needed to wash my hair before work.

30 miles cycling – Ladies Ride Night. I also commuted to the group ride, which doubles my mileage for the night. This weekly ride is really getting big! We had around 60 ladies and split into 3 groups tonight.

Weds – Ok, those nice temps didn’t last too long. It’s back to hot again. Just in time for our camping trip! This was a rescheduled camping trip from earlier this year when it was too cold and rainy. We usually aren’t “July campers”, but this was when it fit into our schedule. It was also my Mom’s first camping trip in our camper! Our kids were not able to join us due to their schedules, but Zach did come out for dinner one night.
The sky turned a beautiful color, and then it rained. Time for card games in the camper 🙂

Thurs – 6 miles, running. The temps made running tough, but the change of scenery was nice.

My aunt and uncle have been visiting from Florida and traveled in their RV. They joined us at the campgroup too. It was nice to spend time with them.

Fri – 3 miles running. The campground ponds have swans. It’s been a great way to keep the Canada geese population down (which isn’t great for the swimming beach and pond), and they are just pretty to look at! There are also a lot of deer here.

And just like that, the camping trip was done. We headed back home.

Sat – 11 miles long run. Phew, so sweaty!!! Another hot long run. I’ve really had enough of this weather. I started early enough that it wan’t completely awful, but I would be happy if the temps went down about 10 degrees.

20 miles riding. You know what’s good after a long run? A bike ride to the coffee shop! As soon as our long runs were done, Alan and I went with Zach for an iced coffee. It was a bit exhausting when we started the ride, but it got better. That iced coffee really hit the spot!

It’s been fun hearing all about my daughter’s trip to Europe. They started in Ireland and spent the rest of the trip in France. The south of France looks amazing! Their Airbnb is a boat. Boat life looks pretty great.

On tap for Sunday? Maybe biking. Maybe Cedar Point! Who knows, but the EV is charged up and ready to go.
Need some more inspiration? I’m linking up with Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner and Kim from Running on the Fly for their Weekly Run Down. Check out all of the fun blogs there!
Q: Would you stay in a boat on vacation?
I would. It looks fun!

Sounds like a great mid-week getaway! A change of scenery to more greenery is always rejuvenating. 😉
Yes! A change of scenery is always a good thing. It was nice to see Lake Erie and the animals.
How fun that your mom was able to join you for your camping trip! I would definitely stay in a boat Airbnb. I bet your daughter is having a lot of fun.
Your ladies night rides are really growing.
I thought my daughter was kidding when she said she was going to stay on a boat. After seeing it I think I would do it too! It was cozy and a good deal
I love that you were able to get in a long bike ride after a long run! Way to go. After a long run sometimes I sit down and never get up LOL. I bet that coffee tasted really good! Nice job this week.
Going for the coffee ride at 9am definitely motivated me to get up early and get my long run done. I’ll never say no to a coffee shop visit with my kids!
What a nice camping trip with your mom! How fun that your aunt and uncle could join too.
I’m glad to hear your daughter had a good time in Ireland and France. France had some insane temperatures lately! Perhaps she’s used to it?
Well done running in the heat!
I haven’t heard any complaints from her yet about the temperatures, so yes, maybe she’s used to it! She did bring a lot of tank tops and sleeveless shirts should she should be all set.
I did a long-ish ride yesterday (22 miles), after having run a few hours earlier. I think it really helped with the recovery!
That first half a mile was pretty rough on my legs after my run. That heat took a lot out of me!
What a fun week! I wish I had a pool to jump into after a run. That would feel so good. I bet your mom loved having your aunt and uncle join you for camping. I love how much you do with her.
The cycling group was huge! Do you stagger groups to keep it safe?
The split in groups is mostly for speed – just called “the faster group” and the “not as fast group”. The ideal size for the group is around 20 riders. As for safety, we actually have more miles on the bike trail than roads this year. Some drivers are just jerks around large groups of riders so we try to avoid that situation! I think that’s unfortunate because I liked discovering new road routes.
Another fun week of adventures for you all! Staying cool in the pool is the best! That’s nice that your mom was blue to join in for the fun
I’m really happy that our new camper worked out good with her as our guest. She had a good time!
How cool to have the airbnb be a boat! I love that idea!
Looks like a super fun week with plenty of great travel and things going on.
We also did some camping, although it looked a little different from yours. I realize how much I miss it. I have this gorgeous tent that I’ve never used, but I really want to break it out at some point.
How cool to have a boat airbnb!
I used to be more adventurous. We don’t camp. Now we don’t sleep on our boat. I like the comforts of a bed.
Love the air bnb! What an adventure, looks like so much fun! And well done fitting in the fitness with/around the fun!
