First, let me present my family artistically enhanced by my daughter.
She learned this technique in school and gave us all an update. Would you like to see your picture updated? She’ll do it for $1. 🙂 (or probably just for free if you asked!)
Following along with the artsy theme for today’s post, I’ll tell you about a date I had with my dude on Friday. Yep, that dude!
We went out to dinner and then went to the Toledo Art Museum. They stay open late on Friday night. I love being around all of the hip people that stay out past 8pm in the winter! 🙂 (which is not me usually)
We had a lot of fun taking pictures, and selfies. Imagine my surprise when they asked to hold on to my selfie stick when we went into the main gallery! Guess they are not allowed there 🙁
They had a special exhibit all about “sneakers”, so we got to play a few fun shoe related games there too. This one was a version of Chutes and Ladders.
It was really nice spending time with my son. Dinner at BW3 (wings!) and a stop for ice cream after the museum topped the evening off.
On Saturday we all took a trip to the Perrysburg Winterfest going on nearby. “Winter” was a pretty odd term since it was almost 60 degrees outside! Not surprisingly, the ice carvings did not last long. But we did catch this one since it was newly carved. It’s a shame they all melted so fast because there was a lot of talent and time spent on the ice creations.
BTW, the Toledo Art Museum is just one of the cool places you can visit if you coming into town for the Glass City Marathon!

Q: Do you enjoy drawing or painting?
I enjoyed it in Art class, but don’t do much of it now!
Q: Have you ever had a selfie stick confiscated??
Q: Did you get out and enjoy the warm weather this weekend?
Wow you guys are rebels, getting your selfie taken! 🙂
Those pictures are really neat! What does she do, trace certain portions? I am so not artistic.
Traces over parts to emphasize them. Because my nose needs more emphasis!! 😉
I enjoy painting and drawing, but was also smart enough to realize that I am not nearly talented enough to make money through it. Which is why I have a history of art degree and not an art degree (to be fair: history of art is also not very profitable, lol).
Sounds like a fun weekend! I don’t think I’ve been to Toledo Museum of Art since I was a student. The sneaker exhibit sounds like fun!
That’s interesting about your degree! I loved the art history class I had during college, which they held at the art museum. I was thinking I need to go on one of the museum’s tours again to get reacquainted with the works of art!
I am so far from being an artist!!! Stick figures all the way! LOL!
I selfie stick wasn’t confiscated, but dang, I can’t find it anywhere!!!!! LOL! I think I only got to use it a hand full of times and lost it!! hmmmmmmm
Maybe check in the backseat of your vehicle where your son sits… that’s where I find a lot of our missing things! Ha! 🙂
Ha! Ha! that is actually a brilliant idea!!!! It is amazing what I find in the back seat!!!!! LOL 😀
Haha I love Sydney’s art! There should be an Instagram filter for that haha it looks awesome. I have always loved doing art and especially making birthday cards for people! So much fun 🙂
As a kid I used to make lots of cards – set up my own little card shop when I played. I had my sights set on a career in the greeting card industry for sure! huh, I wonder when that path took a turn to computer programming?
