Happy Tuesday everyone – and happy Valentine’s Day!! Hope it’s just a pile ‘o love where ever you are!
Weekly Stats:
- Training for: Owens Corning Half marathon @ the Glass City Marathon
- Days of running: 4
- Miles run: 35
- Yoga: many minutes!
- Gym visits: 2
Monday
8 miles “endurance”, 10:00 pace – treadmill run this morning. Surprisingly I wasn’t as sore as I thought I would be. Maybe icing my glute was helpful Sunday night.
Tuesday
XT day – gym + yoga. No running, but went to the gym for core exercises and did Jasyoga at night. I had the whole gym space to myself! Disclaimer – I do weights in the “womens only” area because it’s far less crowded… and I don’t like sweaty dudes.
Wednesday
Speedwork – LT run, 9:15 pace overall For this run, it was warm up, 18 mins of LT pace (half marathon), 4 mins jog recovery, 12 mins LT, and cool down. I learned from last week’s crash and burn. I felt it would be better to run a little slower and complete the challenge instead of just failing at a pace I couldn’t run yet. So, instead of 8:13 for the LT, I ran 8:27. That was still very challenging, but it went better than last week. I was able to run the full 18 mins, and only stepped off for one rest during the 12 min section. I call that a win! Can you tell from this post run picture that my ass was kicked??
Thursday
Full rest day, except did a quick Jasyoga video in the morning. My glutes were feeling better than I expected, but still a bit tight, so I did the “running cool down” video. I think it’s helping! Most times I do my yoga in my bedroom, but this morning I did it in my closet instead. It’s all good!
Friday
Long run, 11 miles, 9:36 pace + yoga – This was not my best run. I felt sore most of the run. A bit depressing 🙁 Also, it was freaking cold out and I had to layer up gloves and mittens. Was not excited to be running today! I’ll admit – it was one of those “I have to run” days instead of “I get to run” days. I did several Jasyoga videos after running.
Saturday
Yoga 20 mins, 8 mins abs. Rest from running! I thought all of these rest days in my plan was too “easy” but in actuality these rest days are much needed! I did a “how to activate your glutes” video in Jasyoga. I definitely felt the glute work all day!
Sunday
8 miles with 6 x 12 sec uphill & strides + yoga I was a lame friend today. I was supposed to meet up with my friend and join her on her 3 miler, but since it was drizzly and yucky looking outside, I cancelled with her and stayed on my treadmill (sorry Sarah!!). I know, I suck. BUT, something great did happen… I had no glute pain on my run!! For once in the longest time, I felt NORMAL again. Woohoo!! Wow, this is what it feels like to run pain free??
Could it be my Jasyoga is working?? I’m not sure, but just in case, I’m making time to incorporate into each day! No need to jinx a great run!
Well, that wraps up my weekly workouts!
You can find my other Training Tuesday recaps here! Linking up with Courtney at Eat Pray Run DC again this week. (there are a lot of fun blogs linked there in case you are looking for something new to read!)

Q: Has anyone been watching the New Celebrity Apprentice? What do you think of it?
Q: Closet organization – do you group yours by color, style, season or occasion?
Mine is functional – workout clothes, then work clothes, and “other stuff”
Q: Did you have plans for Valentine’s day?
Chocolate and romantic dinners are always a hit with me. (Hope Alan’s reading this!)
Hey yay for no glute pain!!!!!! I hope the yoga is helping. Why did you do it in your closet? Well hey you have enough room in there! My closet is so tiny. I have organized like this: fancy dresses, work dresses, non work appropriate dresses, long sleeve dressy shirts, long sleeve casual shirts, short sleeve dressy shirts, short sleeve casual shirts, dressy tanks, casual tanks, sweaters/blazers, skirts, pants. Is that detailed enough for you? I have never watched celebrity apprentice, not even before I started hating DT. Although I know Arnold is on now and I do like Arnold. That pic of you running on the trail looks pretty! But cold.

I had to think about why I was in my closet… true confession – I took a shower and was in my underwear with a towel in my hair!! Hey, time is a limited commodity in the AM before work 🙂 The closet is really big. Love it! It’s the space above our part of our garage, so it’s a little chilly sometimes, but never lacking in size.
Wow!! That was an amazing week of training.
Your closet is really big!! Mine has only the necessary space for my clothes and shoes. I used to organize my clothes by color but now I’ve been organizing it to be more functional. It is way easier and faster to put together an outfit by doing it this way.
I really hope Alan has read this post and that now you’re having a nice dinner with chocolates 🙂 I will be going out for dinner in a little bit. Happy Valentine’s day!

We did have a good dinner at home! Alan made steaks, green beans, potatoes, and we even enjoyed a glass of wine. Delicious!
Your closet is huge! I love that you can make it a mini yoga studio. I arrange my hanging clothes by color (white, light blues and purples, dark blues and purples, black). It is a pretty minimalist closet since I manage to hide my complete mess of workout clothes in a drawer.
Hooray for no glute pain!

I really need to do an annual purge of stuff in my closet. It’s time!! I pick up stuff at garage sales and some are really hits, but others never get worn, so time to part with them. My workout clothes are starting to encroach on my dressy working clothes! I never have a hard time finding workout clothes I like 😉
Great job with your workouts and Im glad you have been feeling good! I love jasyoga- that glute workout is a killer!
I’m really surprised how well Jasyoga is working for me. I’m a pretty skeptical person… but I’m sold on it!
