So many fun things are happening around here regarding COVID/Get Back To Life (that’s my name for it!)…. Many companies are allowing customers to shop without masks for vaccinated people! My office no longer requires masks in the common spaces for vaccinated people! AND… Ohio is having a contest to give away 1 million dollars to people who are vaccinated (5 people total).  For those 12-17 year olds, they get a full ride scholarship!!  Yes indeed, I signed up to win!!

As for my workouts this week, I did run 28 miles and did 2 days of strength workouts. Overall it was a busy week and getting even busier next week! But here’s how things were going…

Mon – 5 miles, Monday Runday #3!  The third of five Monday 5 milers are done.  It’s officially “morning outdoor running” time for me.  Running time coincides with the sunrise which is wonderful!  (not to mention the great temperatures too!)

Tue – 1.5 miles at bootcamp, evening 5K.  The river was so calm and peaceful for my 2nd time back to bootcamp.  I need to bring a variety of weights because the 10 lbs were a bit challenging on a few of the exercises.

We also got to celebrate awards for my son, the sophomore, this week. He received “highest scholastic honors”. I’m very proud of him!

5K Frantic Finish.  This is a fun, free club run in which we (theoretically) should all finish the race at the same time.  We start running when the countdown clock reaches our goal finish time.  You’re actually supposed to run a fast 5K, but I’m not really in racing mode so I just guessed 28:30 for our finish.  With my speedy partner (my husband) we came in with only 10 seconds on the clock.  Not too bad!  Then we enjoyed some beers with our club friends.

Weds – 5 miles.  This was only going to be an easy run, but some contributing factors made this a progressive run!  Factors were 1) running in my super shoes, always speedy 2) the weather was perfect, 55 degrees! 3) I had an early morning zoom meeting I had to attend 4) I woke up late!!  Things were going great on this run and each mile clicked off faster with the last sprint in at 7:10.  Woot!! The morning sun was casting a nice glow.

Thurs – Rest day! Today we started our 3 day garage sale and I needed to be ready! Of course I wasn’t. Always a few last minute things to do… like, hmmm, did I ever get around to properly adverting my sale?? Luckily it’s a neighborhood sale so hopefully other people will draw in the customers.

Fri – Bootcamp. Instead of running stairs and a hill between our weight workouts, we did other cardio such as skaters, jumping jacks, and a few other things that I can’t remember, but my hamstrings sure do. Ugh. This wasn’t the best workout for me in terms of the activity choices. The company was good though, and I do enjoy working out with these ladies!

3.3 mile run. Just an easy few miles before garage sale day 2! This is the other Lululemon shirt I got as a gift from my training team. I really like it!

For dinner, we went to a microbrewery. Sadly, garage sale was really slow today and I spent more money than I earned on our dinner and drinks that night. LOL!! Also, we are in the process of upgrading our pool deck area. Loving our new fire pit!

Sat – 10 miles, long run. I’m still feeling a bit sore from yesterday’s bootcamp workout. But, given that I’d be sitting around all day at my garage sale, I made it a priority to get my run done early. The sale stayed open until 2pm and we did well considering we didn’t have any high priced items to sell.

This pretty much sums up my body today…

Sun – Rest day... Cedar Point! It was a great day at the park. We got there early. It wasn’t that busy, probably due to the graduations happening today. Our longest wait time was 30 mins! A fun day.

Q: Have there been a lot of changes in your area regarding COVID restrictions?

About half of the people are still wearing masks in the big stores, but otherwise I haven’t seen a lot of mask wearing around here!

Q: If you have been working remotely, has your company asked you to come back to the office?

  1. Sounds like you had a great week! I find garage sales really tiring. One of my neighbors did one last year, and my husband really wanted to, but I said NO!

The mask mandate has been lifted, but I still see a fair amount of mask wearing. It’ll probably catch up.

Sounds like you had a great week of workouts! You didn’t get our heat? I’m envious (but it cooled off big time last night).

  2. A nice week of running.

What a fun idea to have an evening 5k.

I do want to have a garage sale. I’ve been collecting stuff in the basement. But so much work. Maybe not.

  3. We still have to wear masks in shops and on transport and things like that, which is fine by me. All shops are now open and you can eat and drink indoors. Great work running while doing your garage sale – exhausting stuff!

  4. That evening 5K sounds like fun!

Mask mandate has been lifted here for all outdoor spaces – it’s a mixed bag indoors. Either way, most people are still wearing masks.

  5. Very productive week!! We always meant to hit Cedar Point, when we lived in Michigan, but never did. I love roller coasters, so it’s definitely a place I want to visit someday. I stopped at the grocery store, last week, after work…and it was SO WEIRD to have almost no one in a mask, not even the employees. I’m not complaining, but it was such a 180 from the last time I’d been there. I am definitely ready to move on 😉

    1. There were a lot of employees not wearing masks at Cedar Point, which seemed odd. But I can’t imagine having to work outside all day in the heat with one on!

  6. things are starting to feel like they are moving back to normal. Finally! I am still not all the way there. People are a little more conservative here. Looking forward to it though. Way to go this week!

  7. Huge congrats to your son – that’s fantastic. That evening race sounds cool. I like the strategy required!

We are just getting used to looser restrictions around here. It seemed like everyone still was wearing masks at the grocery store, which is fine with me. We went out to eat and the restaurant had a sign that masks are NOT required for those fully vaccinated. We ate outside anyway.

    1. I just remembered that in years past we were told not to wear a watch. That makes it much more interesting to get to the finish at the right time. And we got small prizes for coming the closest to our predicted time. But who runs without a watch anymore? Is that even possible? Ha! We were just happy they were able to have this event in person again.

  8. I hate garage sales. Our neighborhood hosts them twice a year and in 15 years, we have participated twice.

Congratulations to your son! That’s amazing!

I live in Florida, where things have always been pretty relaxed. We are both vaccinated (our 13 year old will be in August), and we still wear masks and stay out of big crowds. It’s a lot to just pop right back into things.

    1. I now hate garage sales too. 😂 wow, they have them twice a year? We skipped a year so we had a lot of stuff. But it’s so much work. I do love finding bargains though!

  9. Such a great week for you and congrats to your son!

As of last Wednesday vaccinated people do not have to wear masks indoors. I’m still wearing my mask indoors even though I’m vaccinated since I love with my parents and my mom cannot get the vaccine yet. I’m probably being overly cautious but wearing a mask doesn’t bother me. When I went to the grocery store this weekend, everyone except for one person had on a mask. I just think it’s going to take people some time to feel comfortable doing that.

    1. You’re making a good choice! I’m torn about the grocery store. It’s super annoying with the mask to try to use my phone and look at my grocery list (face recognition!) but I also feel like the grocery would potentially still be a place to spread COVID. I mean, it’s probably the most likely place someone would go even if they didn’t feel good. It’s a necessity.

  10. I want to join in the GBTL (Get Back To Life) celebrations! And a big YAY to Ohio for encouraging people to get vaccinated! Masks are optional just about everywhere down here now, but a lot of people (at least 50%) are still wearing them. We still have to wear them for work (sigh) but it’s just a matter of time.
Sounds like you had a great week of running! And lots of other fun things thrown in. Congrats to your son! I can see why you’re proud.

    1. I’m just waiting for my million to roll in! 🙂 It’s definitely weird to see so many faces again. I’m glad we have the ability to get the shots so easily now.

  11. I am not a fan of garage sales but I know sometimes it needs to be done to get rid of stuff. I’d like to donate mine to a group that resells it and the profit goes to help pay for tuition for a grammar school and high school it is affiliated with. My nephew went to both so I am happy to do it. That is awesome on the contest!

  12. Congrats to your son! That’s so impressive. What a beautiful shot of the river.
The mask mandate has been lifted but almost everyone still wears one. I went into a store sans mask and got the stink eye from a couple of other shoppers. Whatever!
Those are great incentives to get vaccinated. Illinois would never do anything that cool. Ha!
