We got a new foster this week… Moo! I’ll get into that later, but overall I guess you could recap this week with “rain, eggs, kitten, closet and workouts”. I ran almost 28 miles this week, and by Sunday night I should have 47 miles of cycling. I went to the gym several times, did elliptical and walked too. It was a well rounded week of fitness and fun.

Mon – 4.5 mile run.  Last week started out odd with mismatched shoes on Monday, but this week was even more “Monday”.  I planned my morning around the fact I had to wash and style my hair.  This process takes awhile since I have curly hair, but I like to blow it out.  When I get done blow drying my hair it is a big fuzzy mess and it needs to be straightened.  Guess what?  My flat iron is missing.  MISSING!!!  OMG.  Luckily I have a small travel size, but that barely gets the job done and takes forever.  So much for me being prepared today.  And then, they decided to close a lane of the road resulting in a traffic jam, making me late.  Sigh.  And I thought I was going out to lunch today.  Thankfully I took along an emergency lunch of “can of soup” just in case… and yep, my luncheon is on Tuesday.  Doh. I did get to go to to dinner with some friends, to that was a great end to my day.

Tues – 4 mile run.  Lunch was worth waiting for – just look at the size of these items! I got the “small” size salad and took half of it home. My friend got an omelet. Yes, that is an omelet, not an armadillo! Crazy. She had enough for lunch, dinner and lunch and probably dinner again the next day.

Fun thing happened today… Moo arrived!  We had a choice of a few options (single kittens, multiple litters) but the one that worked best for our schedule was a short term gig for this little cutie!  Moo only needs to gain ½ pound and she’ll be with us until June 2nd.  She’s so well behaved (as much as a kitten can be!) and is allowed to run around the house and play with our cats.

Weds –  30 mins elliptical.  I made waffles and a blueberry compote for the family breakfast. Delish!

We were supposed to go on a two night camping trip starting tonight, but there’s a lot of rain in the forecast and the high temps are supposed to be 58!  Not the best combo for camping.  I rescheduled that trip and decided to finally tackle the tubs of summer clothes that I have been tripping over in my closet for a few weeks now.  Putting away the winter stuff and finding space for the summer clothes.  Did my clothes multiply while they were in the tubs??  So much stuff.  Time to do some purging.

Thurs – 6 mile treadmill run, gym visit.  More rain this morning so I opted for a treadmill run.  Got to watch a new Apple TV show, the Studio.  Pretty funny.  I spent a large part of the day working on the closet again.  Not only am I washing all clothes that are hanging up, I’m also washing off the hangers.  Dust was gathering, so clearly I haven’t worn some of these things in a long time and they need to be donated!

1.6 mile walk with my son.  After the rainy day we needed to get out for some fresh air when the weather cleared up.

Fri – 3 mile run, gym visit, PT exercises.  This morning was chilly, 44 degrees!  Thankfully I didn’t put away all of my cool weather workout clothes.  And yes, the closet project continued!  I now have only 2 more sections of clothes to wash and go through.  Getting so close!

Sat – 10 mile long run.  What a beautiful sunny morning!  There was standing water on my path, but luckily it was at my turn around point.  It was quite the social morning.  I stopped and chatted with 5 groups of people and I ran my last 1.5 miles with my friend whom I haven’t talked to in ages.  Good times!

I even enjoyed a second breakfast because my husband was cooking.  Yummy!  My kitties were enjoying a lazy morning.  They are such buddies!

I took advantage of the nice day and went for a 17 mile ride in the afternoon.  After organizing all of my summer workout gear I am getting even more excited about the cycling season! Nothing like a wardrobe refresh to motivate you 😉

Sun – 30 mile bike ride on tap for today, along with a family cookout.

The mystery of my missing flat iron has still not been solved, so a new one was purchased. How crazy! The closet project is almost wrapped up (sidetracked by the sunshine, haha!) and Moo is enjoying her cozy tent when not speeding around the house.

Q: Have you ever done a complete closet clean out?

Goodbye unneeded stuff! It has been a rewarding project. I hope having less choices will help me get dressed faster in the morning!

  1. GAAAAAHHH!! Miss Moo! She’s so, so cute. So your cats don’t mind another cat in the house? I’m guessing they don’t feel threatened because she’s so little.
Sounds like you had a great week of workouts, AND that closet cleaning! That must feel amazing. I probably wear about 1/4 of what’s in my closet- i’m in desperate need of a purge.
I’m laughing at your Monday… and where in the world did that flat iron go??? i’ll bet you find it eventually in a really weird place.

    1. Sam (the 1 yr old) quite enjoys playing and wrestling with Moo. He is gentle though and they have fun. Luna (10 yrs old) just ignores both Moo and Sam! It’s good that Sam has temporarily stopped pestering Luna.
The closet situation was in serious need of purging. Sooooo many things not being worn. Also helpful just to get the winter stuff out of there.
Hopefully I’m not just having a senior moment and put the flat iron somewhere stupid, but it hasn’t surfaced yet!

  2. I love Miss Moo! So sweet!
As always in these discussions… I envy anyone with curly hair and I would never flatten it. I have straighter than straight hair and I curl it whenever I have the time, to look somewhat decent. Ultra straight hair doesn’t suit me.
Enjoy the cycling season! It’s lovely to do some closet cleanouts. I’ve done that several times and it’s so refreshing!

    1. I think straight hair is so easy! I can wear it that way for days without doing much to it (up to 5 days!), but if it’s curly it needs serums and creams to calm the fuzz down. Not to mention it’s a big mess in the morning and I have to style it all again. I am going to try an embrace my curly hair more this summer though. I have a couple of new products which I hope will help and maybe my hair will be healthier with less heat stylers!

  3. Miss Moo looks like a sweetie! I did a major closet clean-out last spring when I moved to my new place. I have a much bigger walk-in set-up here, which means I have A LOT of stuff I probably should purge (but everything fits, LOL). I’m hoping for a long bike ride this afternoon…hoping the weather mellows and warms a bit…

    1. Bigger closet, more stuff! We did have a nice warm afternoon, but the planned bike ride had some technical difficulties. More on that next week!

  4. Moo is toooooo sweet! Awww! Husband needs to do his wardrobes as he’s lost a lot of weight since he was diagnosed as diabetic. But he has so much else to do. Mine are pretty pared down now, if dull! I have big fuzzy hair too and yesterday I got it really nice then left the house and went to parkrun, it was muggy and windy – BOOF up it went and I had to tie it back almost immediately!

    1. Humidity is not my friend! I cannot figure out how my hair stylist can make my hair so silky smooth with just a blow dryer and a brush. That’s some talent! I wish I could do that on my own!!

  5. I did just clean out my closet, but oddly enough, it’s filling back up! Haha
Your hair sounds like mine–and i’d be lost without my flatiron!
    Miss Moo is so cute!

  6. It sounds like we have the same hair! I’ve had a similar thing happen at my mom’s house when I dropped and broke my flatiron mid flattening session. We were on our way Christmas shopping so I had to stop by her hairdresser’s salon and have someone finish it for me, and buy a new flatiron while out shopping. I’ve been switching out my winter/summer stuff, too, but have to keep getting out winter stuff because we keep getting cold snaps.

Yay for getting back out on your bike! 🙂

Miss Moo is so cute, and it’s great that she gets along well with your other cats.

    1. Oh no, my bike is now in the shop! I’ll explain next week but I had to ride my old bike, which I gave to my daughter. It was actually a nice bike, so no complaints there but boo on bike repair needed!!

  7. That was the Mondayest Monday to ever Monday! You’re going to find that flat iron in about eight months lol! I’ve had that happen and it’s so annoying.

    Moo is adorable. I’m obsessed!

Sorry about your camping trip. I always feel like if I go ahead with trips like it, it will be miserable. But then if I cancel, the weather will be incredible. I can’t win.

    Great workouts this week!

    1. I was determined to go camping and then my mom texted me the night before and said “I don’t know about this camping trip…”. She was going with us and apparently thought hanging out in a rainy campground in 50 degrees wouldn’t be much fun. haha!!
I can’t figure out why my flat iron would have even left my bathroom. That never happens! Such a mystery.

  8. Great mileage that week and way to go on the closet purge! It feels so good to let go of stuff!!

Moo is so sweet. I love that you foster but it must be so hard to part with these cuties again!

  9. Your closet looks a lot like mine these days! It is a never ending project. I do like swapping out the old stuff for new so it never ends. Enjoy your new kitten! Have a fantastic week!

    1. The closet reorganization has been quite the project! I think just putting an item away in a storage box is helpful since I sometimes feel like I don’t want to part with it. Out of sight, out of mind! Then I won’t miss it at all.
