The Glass City Marathon is rapidly approaching us on April 24th. If you are coming in to town for this race, welcome!! There are many things to do on that weekend while you are here, besides racing and crushing those PRs.
Findley Davies Kid’s Marathon
While you are stopping by the expo, why not get the kids involved too? The Findley Davies Kid’s Marathon is an event that we have attended many years and my kids always look forward to. See my recap of last year’s race here! There are 3 race distances from 1/4 mile to 1 mile, based on the child’s age. There are also fun games and prizes! And don’t forgot those cute bears they give the kid’s every year….
Race Expo
On Saturday, when you are on campus for the Findley Davies Kids Marathon, you’ll also be able to attend the expo. While there, you can pick up your race packet, visit the 40+ vendors on site, purchase official Glass City Marathon merchandise and even stop by the information table in the lobby for some FAQ help. There are going to be some awesome helpers at the info table… the super race Ambassadors! Stop by and say Hi!
Toledo Zoo
The Toledo Zoo is a great destination for everyone! They have recently put in a new aquarium which is fascinating. Yep, you’ve seen me blog about our family going there. Let The Toledo Zoo take you from the Arctic tundra to the wilds of Africa, from the tropical rainforest to the Sonoran Desert and all points between—all in one great day.
Toledo Mud Hens
It’s always a good idea to stay off your feet a bit before your big race, so how about catching a baseball game instead? The world famous Toledo Mud Hens will be playing home games during race weekend. The Fifth Third field is exceptional – not a bad seat in the house! Oh yeah, I’ve blogged about going there too!….
Toledo Museum of Art
One more favorite of our family is the Toledo Museum of Art. The museum is recipient of numerous awards and is the perfect place to just chill out and relax while taking in the beauty of their vast collection. Just don’t use your selfie stick in the galleries. Lesson learned.
There are many more great places to see, and things to do in Toledo. Click this link for more ideas.
Oh…. and don’t forget the party AFTER the race. After you cross the finish line you will be presented with a Glass City Marathon mug which you can fill with beer (if you’re old enough!!) at the party going on. Gatorade or water is also an option, don’t worry! They even have craft beer from Great Black Swamp brewery as a choice. You’ll get two beer tickets and delicious post-race food from the Original Gino’s which has included pasta and pizza. And cookies 🙂 Need I saw more? But wait, there is more! They have a band playing too! It’s a lot of fun meeting up with your friends and celebrating race day.
I’ll be covering more race topics in the upcoming weeks. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

Q: Will you be coming in to town for the Glass City Marathon?
Q: Do you have any favorite race swag other than a shirt?
We use our race mugs and glasses all the time!
I’ll be there supporting my favorite runner on the course! Hopefully she can score some extra beer tickets for me.
Ambassadors do have great powers. Fingers crossed!
